Anyone know of a place in Cleveland where I can get good deep dish pizza? I've had the biggest craving for one, and have no idea of any pizza joints that make it here.
I live on the west side in the city, but am definitely willing to travel around here, so if anyone knows a place, let me know!

DANNY BOY'S in Rocky River has hands down the best deep dish pizza in town. I miss it like crazy... all we have is the flat, foldable stuff out here on the east coast! Phil Dawson agrees... we saw him eating there once!

Yeah, I'm close by Rocky River, so that sounds like the best option for now.
And if Phil Dawson likes it, it must be good! I can only hope that see Ryan Pontbriand there!

They have Chicago style and it's GOOD. Best I have had outside of Chicago. Be sure to ask for extra sauce to dunk your crust in. Their sauce is so good sometimes I eat it with a spoon

The best deep dish I've ever had was in Kissimee (sp) Florida at a place called Giordano's. I don't normally have deep dish around though.

I hate that NY pizza.
Try to eat it nornally and sauce drips all over your shirt......I call it a Italian Burrito.......you have to wrap the darn thing up to eat it.

The pizza itself tastes really awesome, it's just a lot of work. Cut it with a fork and knife and you get funny looks. To be honest I don't like any crust, but there is much more filling and sauce when you have deep dish

I had some good deep dish in the Detroit airport at some place called Pizzapopolis. Otherwise, there's not many places you see around here serving it. I know Pizza Hut had it in the past, but it was decent, not great. Deep dish pizza is great, it's surprising that more places don't sell it. Any OU people here? Speaking of pizza, I visited some friends years back and stopped at Godfather's pizza. That stuff was awesome!

Godfather? where the hell are they? the only place I know of on Court Street is Goodfellas.
Otherwise we order Hungry Howies, Pizza Hut or Dominos.

They have a bunch of locations (Chicago and Orlando mostly), somehow, we need to convince to put one in Cleveland. I'd travel for that pizza!

OK you got me looking for deep dish now.....LOL And the one I can find that is not a Pizza Hut type of chain is Guy's Pizza in Eastlake but they also have shops in Euclid, Kent, Ravenna, and Cleveland Hts. I have heard Good things about them prior to this...but I have not had the pizza....so don't hang me if you aren't a fan.... Check them out at www.guyspizzaco.comThey are one of the few that actually advertises a Deep Dish....and in looking at their site...it is a TRUE "Deep Dish"

I can attest to the one in Kissimee, FL...It looks like it's a fairly large chain. Just need one here!

Lots of options in Chicago. Just drive about 5 hours West and you're here. Plus you gain an hour on the clock. Like any of you didn't know that already.... Pizzeria Uno is another option - isn't there one around Great Northern Mall.....

The closest Uno's around here is in Dublin (next to Columbus). I love Uno's and Giordano's in Chicago.

I believe the one at Great Northern closed, but I could be wrong.

Damn, send some to me. I just remember going down to visit friends and stopping there, and the stuff was great. Good crust from what I remember.

Agree....was just trying to think of a deep dish pizza place on the west side of Cleveland. Last time I was at that Uno's at Great Northern was probably 10 years ago - so I wouldn't be surprised if it was closed.

Pizza Hut is great. Pizza at the local places typically is better, but I like PIzza Hut a lot. Nice and greasy. My wife loves Papa Johns. I do like their pizza, but it's not my fave. For some reason, that's all she ever wants. Wedgewood is the best around here, so that's where I like to go. Plus its like 60 seconds down the road.

Wow, that's about a minute from my house! I love their sausage pizza.
As an update, I did pick up the deep dish pizza from Danny Boy's that Couch Girl recommended and it was pretty good! Definitely not as good as Geno's East in Chicago (my fave) but still enough to whet my appetite. Thanks for the heads up!

There's a little local pizzaria in downtown Gaet, Italy that serves the pizza I've ever tasted. You could buy it by the kilo. I could get a decent piece for 400 lira and a Peroni beer for 120 and it was 625 lira to the dollar. That was 40 years ago.

Excellent choice on both. Geno's East is OUTSTANDING and the best by far. It was so good, I took pictures of it when I was eating it. Glad you enjoyed Danny Boys. I'm jealous!

Mama Santa's in Little Italy is delicious. As far as deep dish, go to Giordano's in Chicago, I believe you can order from their web site.
Anybody remember Scotto's?
