Providers are working together with leading health insurance companies and will be charging co pays and other fees for administration of the vaccine. So the uninsured won’t be getting it free at all. I’m gathering data on this right now, here’s a link showing its a possibility but this comes from a very reliable source that it’s going to happen. https://www.rollcall.com/2020/09/02/doctors-fees-may-mean-a-free-covid-19-vaccine-isnt-free/Just another reason we need a single payer health insurance program more than ever now.

I don't know how all of that will work out.
One thing I do know is that nothing is free. Somebody is paying for "free" coverage.

The process of developing a vaccine, then dialing it in, then testing it for safety and efficacy is EXTREMELY arduous. And these companies are doing it, while blazing new trails (mRNA), and doing it all in record time.
Did you think that's going to be free? Do you think that would be free if we were in a single payer system?

He's talking about Biden and Trump saying it will be/should be free for every American. Just like the tests were supposed to be, but mine cost in excess of $400... Not all out of pocket but a portion was and I was even told by the doc that ordered it that it was not going to cost me anything.
As far as free costing somebody something, well of course it does. But you guys kill me on the government spending on things like this, they literally make money up out of thin air at will for everything they do. EVERYTHING. Your taxes come after the fact and are ONLY needed to keep you dependent on earning US dollars to pay taxes, thereby giving the government the ability to place real value on our currency globally. There was never any of this talk when it came to funding the endless wars that the corps want. And nobody cries about where the money comes from for the big business and wall street bailouts that seem to be becoming the regular norm these days... But hey, when it helps the poor or working people, all of a sudden the money matters. I call BS.
And to answer oobers question, yes it would be free to the recipient in a single payer system, but the government will tax everyone for that system. This is no different than insurance companies charging premiums, those healthcare dollars from insurance aren't FREE either. And the profits to those insurance companies represent about 30% of our healthcare expenses in America. 30%!!!

So no, it wouldn't be free.
And yes, there was plenty of this talk on our overspending related to policing the world, and definitely talk of this when govt bail out their corporate donors/cronies. Overspending/wasting is bad, no matter where it happens. So you call of BS (for me, at least) is ringing somewhat hollow.
And your explanation goes all the way back to the basis of our currency, but ignores the additional inefficiencies and waste that additional government involvement would bring. I'm not saying our current system is all that, and insurance companies still need to be put in their place, but this government silver bullet will only exascerbate the real problem.

Did you think that's going to be free? Do you think that would be free if we were in a single payer system? These pharmaceutical companies were given government funds to develop the vaccine at warp speed remember? I and every single tax paying american paid for it already. Now the insurance companies are going to cash in on it. Like they are owed something to just administrate the vaccine. Like I sad, this is just another reason for single payer health insurance.

I did not realize they were given so much (2 of them got almost 2 billion). Thank you for correcting me. That definitely changes the math.

I can only speak for myself and most of the civilized, industrialized nations on the planet:
WHEN WE TALK ABOTU FREE HEALTHCARE WE KNOW IT'S NOT MAGICALLY FREE FROM A POT OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES UNDER A LEPRECHAUN'S ARSE.
Of course "FREE" means it's free at the point of receiving/administration .... and TAXES are paying for it.
I mean it's like being in the school play ground again sometimes. Good God.

The way I understand it there are two doses required that are taken days apart from each other.

OMG .... I think you might be the first to spot this issue!
The Pfizer vaccine has to be taken twice - 21 days apart. At least one of the other vaccines has to be taken twice - not sure about other(s).
I don't know what news anyone listens to - but they've been talking since the first round of positive news on the 97% effectiveness of this Pfizer vaccine :
1. It has to be kept super cold. Creates challenges and limits availability to rural areas. 2. It's expensive. 3. Whatever number of vaccines doses have been ordered by whichever country .... the number of people that can be treated is HALF that total. 100,000 million doses = 50 million people treated.
Whichever vaccine has come out of the Cambridge (UK) efforts / companies... AstraZeneca ... is CHEAP, like $5 a shot and doesn't have the extreme refrigeration requirements needed.
Of course if you want to go to a good news source like the BBC where you will learn all this stuff - you'll also learn that Trump lost the election, that claims of mass voter fraud are without merit ... I get that reality is too much for some posters who prefer to stick with Breitbart etc.

I'm sure Americans are the most compliant, rule following, detail oriented followers of directon on the face of the earth, but there may be a couple of them that fail to get the 2nd shot.
There may be a couple that get the 2nd shot first,(out of order, if they are differet); and there may be a couple,
just a couple, out of 300 millon who get the first shot but can't be located 21 days later.
What are the effects of getting one of the stabs but not the 2nd one? Has there been a trial?

Seriously tho, you aren’t fully protected from the virus until about 2 weeks or so after the second stab.
