He was toast and should have been after that idiotic defense played on essentially the last play of the game, yesterday.
What a tool...

There were plenty of people on this Board who wanted him to be our head coach.
Greg has had some success as a defensive coordinator.
It just seems like in time his act grows old.
I wish him well but I am glad he was never a consideration here.

Shocking.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

I was wondering if he was getting his marching orders from upper management / ownership but I guess not. Maybe he thought by calling that defense, he was operating in the Jets best interest?

Maybe he was taking one for the team (ie. doing his part to ensure tanking remained in effect).

That's no less hilarious than it is (probably) true. Still, I'm going with the scapegoat explanation for this one. Williams isn't the real enemy in NJ. It's Gase.

Sure, we should beat the Jets ... but Williams had a good scheme against Baker last year. This actually probably helps us slightly
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

You mean that wasn't on purpose? Sure looked like it as that DB jogged the last 20 yards instead of going to get it...Rudd speed or not.

HC Adam Gase on firing Gregg Williams: "We talked for close to an hour this morning. Obviously, he wasn’t happy, like most of us are when this happens." On the all-out blitz call: "I obviously wasn't happy about that. ...I wish I would've called timeout, but I didn't. https://twitter.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1336034121710186498Who decided to fire Gregg Williams? "I did." -- Adam Gase On blitz: "I obviously wasn't happy about that call. That was a heartbreaking way for our guys to lose a game. ... We can't have that happen." Why didn't he overrule call? Reading that transcript, I see Gase doing everything he can to suppress the grin that allowed him to fire Williams and take the heat off of himself.

Honestly, I'd be more upset with the DB that bit hard on the double move in that situation.

I believed Williams was part of the reason Baker struggled last year (along with Freddie). He showed the NFL the blueprint to disrupt Baker in the 2nd game

Trevor Lawrence did not look very good when I watched on Sat, man, he had a nice touch on that deep ball, and 3 different times in the same spot, about perfect.
But nothing else he did, mid 2nd until the end of the game, looked like an NFL play to me.
I wouldn't be surprised if he struggles royaly in the NFL.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Honestly, I'd be more upset with the DB that bit hard on the double move in that situation. You mean the undrafted rookie corner? Lamar Jackson !!!! I'm guessing he was told not to let anyone behind him in that situation. The one thing he couldn't allow was himself to get beat deep. It's not like he was trying to stay deep and got beat-he jumped up and got himself beat. I didn't love the play call, but I get it. He wanted to force the ball out early and not risk a Waller jumpball hail mary. Let them catch it underneath, tackle them in the field of play and the game's over. At this point of the season, undrafted or not, he should know his assignments and the situation. At least that was how the highlight I saw looked to me. Ruggs is definitely a tough assignment in that situation, but that's why you play it super soft. You don't need to go for a gambling INT with the lead and time about to expire.

I was hoping for GW. Turns out at the time GW was the better choice. Nah we got Kitchens. And wasted a season.

It led to an awful season but also led to Coach Stefanski... which is better than either Kitchens or GW. If we’d kept GW maybe we’d still be looking for a real coach still.

I didn't want Williams but I'm convinced we'd have had a lot more success with him than we did with Kitchens.
Jets fans are singing Williams' praises as the Jets still own that first draft pick. The top rated draft prospects probably aren't as thrilled.

That's an interesting scenario.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I was one of those. I wanted him over Kitchens.. but they chose Kitchens and it was the Kitchens debacle that brought us Stefanski... it was a winding road but I'm happy where we are now.

Would not like to see Kwesi Adofo-Mensah poached after one year with the Browns.
I want as many nerds upstairs in Berea as possible.
Plus, what a great name.

What a strange season... not only are we not talking about who we're taking with a Top 3 pick in the Draft, but we also aren't talking about what hopeful "diamond in the rough" coordinator we'll get hoping to be the next BB.

It's refreshing to see that the Browns are now what appears to be rock solid and steady... What a freaking turn around
