Through 6 innings, his stats were comparable to Beckett's outside of pitch count. He gave up only 3 more hits than Beckett and I think only one more walk and one more run. The strikeout numbers were similar as well.

So after the 6th inning, did you feel that Sabathia and Beckett were having similar outings?

I'm surprised people are letting Grady slide and blaming it all on C.C. Sizemore misplayed 2 fly balls that led to 3 Boston runs.

Manny's single off the top of the wall could have been caught by a good high school outfielder. That's what, an 8ft wall? You maybe have to jump 6 inches off the ground to catch it. Instead of hustling to the wall and then coming back in (if it was short)......... Grady lazily drifted to his left, misplayed the ball and tried to adjust at the last minute only to hit the wall. Fundamentals 101 for an outfielder is to sprint back, find the wall with your off hand and then move in if you have to. Had he done that, that's a pretty routine catch on a ball hit that high.

Then in the 7th, he took his eye off the ball because he thought Gute was going to try to catch it. He looked to his left, realized it was his ball and had to then try to relocate it and make the play. As an outfielder the cardinal sin is to take your eye off the ball, especially on one hit in the gap like that. It went off the end of his glove and led to Boston knocking out C.C. and padding their lead.

Maybe I noticed these things because I played outfield for so long but they were MAJOR mistakes on Grady's part. They don't show up on the stat sheet but Grady easily cost us 3 runs last night because of his poor fundamentals.

there was alot that cost us the game, CC, Grady, and don't forget about hafner who's been useless in playoff and most of the year. Wish i knew what was up with Perez, the guy was incredible all year and then all of a sudden...

I'm a Red Sox fan so I probably shouldn't be posting on this thread lol. But, I've seen alot of Indian fans worried about the series going back to Boston. Don't be worried. Cleveland will finish us off in 6, I think. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't trust Schilling anymore. It's time for him to hang it up. If we can somehow pull out game 6, it will be because we put up alot of runs, and I don't see that happening against Carmona.

But, let's say we pull out Game 6. Then we throw Dice-K in a situation unlike any he's ever been in before. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see us being able to pull out this series.

On another note, I saw where someone mentioned the Cy Young. Josh Beckett should be the Cy Young winner. He is just better than everyone else lol.

i think cc will probably get the cy young, because of his innings logs and lack of run support this year, however, we've found out who's the much better pitcher... if the award were based on the postseason, it wouldn't even be debatable...

I'll say this, IF (and please God I hope theres not) there is a game 7, I totally want to see Byrd out there. Nothing against Jake, but Byrd is on and we need him out there in another big game. I just don't think Westbrook could do it for us. Like I said I hope it doesn't even come to that.

If it goes to 7, I would be shocked if Wedge doesn't go with Byrd. And on the other side, I'll be shocked if we go with Dice-K over Wakefield. JMO.

Dice-K pitches real good at Fenway right? Why wouldn't they start him and try to justify that huge salary?

BTW anyone going down to the Jake tomorrow night to watch the game?

I can't imagine Tito using anyone but DiceK in game 7. This is why we went after the kid and you have to give him the chance to come through. Wakefield can be waiting in the wing but give the ball to the alleged phee-nom first.

C'mon Game 7!

I guess it just depends on how you look at it. I'm the Romeo Crennel of baseball... I say give it to the guy who's been there before JMO.

Is Terry called Tito in Boston? Just wondering. Terry's Dad was one of my fave Indians when I was a kid. Anyway, I would start Dice K if I were them, but have Lester at the ready. He has pitched well vs Cleveland this year.

That said, I'm looking for an offensive rejuvenation out of the Tribe's bats tonight, and a big-game performance from Carmona. So, hopefully (for Cleveland fans) there ain't gonna be no Game 7.

Its funny how being up 3-2 in a series feels like a deficit ... it should be Boston that feels the pressure, but that's not my sense of things ... must be the Cleveland in me.

Come on Featherheads, bring it home!

I think tonight is when we really find out what we're made of.

With Fausto on the mound, we have an obvious pitching advantage. Tonight is the night to capitalize on the opportunity IMO. Carmona has been great all season and I don't see him having 2 so-so starts back to back. On the season he gave up 4 or more earned runs only 3 times, which is really an incredible stat. In bounce back games he pitched an average of 7 innings giving up only a TOTAL of 4 runs in 3 starts or an ERA of 1.71. 2 of those 3 bounce back starts were against two very good hitting teams in Detroit and NYY. We were 2-1 in the 3 games and Fausto left with the lead in all of them. The one loss was the famous JoBo blow up against NY early in the year (6 run 9th). I think the Red Sox hitters will be way too anxious tonight and help Carmona on pitches darting out of the zone. If he can get ahead of hitters they are toast.

Take a few deeps breaths, enjoy college football saturday and watch Carmona usher in a new era of dominant power throwing righty's. I just get the feeling that Schilling is going to finally pass the torch tonight. It's Fausto's time and I think he knows it.

Schilling is a competitor; he is not going to pass that torch easily. The Indians' hitters, and Fausto, are going to have to take it. And that's the way it should be. Its great theater - the kind that the sports fan in me looks forward to. The Indians fan in me wishes the Bosox were starting a Triple-A stiff.

and i think your forgetting one thing, one big thing

remember those blown saves last year? in fenway park?

you have to believe that carmona wants blood tonight... he wants revenge, he probably won't mention it, but you know he remembers those blown saves...

i think that plays into his favor, because it's an elimination game for US, our backs aren't against the wall but they kind of are because of everyone talking about 2004...

Trying to transfer as much positive karma as I can! I got $5.00 extra change back when I made my beer run. Needless to say I pointed it out and gave that back!

Anyone watch the pre-game? It was ALL about the Red Sox and how they're going to dominate - you'd think listening to them that the Sox were up 3-2!

Ugh, I wanted to hurl something at my tv.

No doubt...The female analyst just couldn't help herself from repeating "The Indians could've ended this DAYS ago" enough.
