Here is how I hope the first 4 rounds go.

Defense, Defense, Defense, Defense, Defense, Defense.

Looking at Spotrac's list of 2021 free agents, it looks like we could poach a good chunk of Pitt & Balt's DLines.

There isn't a ton of younger talent at the Safety positions going to be available, it seems. There's a few options, but not a ton.

There are a TON of CB's going to be available, and most seem to be older than dirt. Maybe that's why the passing games are so prolific this season... the CB's are all geriatric?

Still, we can make some moves to shore things up.

The Houston Texans have successfully claimed running back Dontrell Hilliard off waivers from the Cleveland Browns. The move was made official on the NFL’s transaction wire on Tuesday.

Hilliard was waived by the Browns over the weekend in order to make room on the roster for Wyatt Teller when the starting right guard was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Any hope of bringing Hilliard back to the practice squad was thwarted when the Texans claimed him.

In Houston, Hilliard rejoins former Browns teammate Duke Johnson in the backfield. They were together in Cleveland in 2018, Hilliard’s first season with the Browns. In 30 games over three seasons with the Browns, Hilliard had 22 carries for 97 yards and 22 receptions for 199 yards. He also saw some action as the team’s return specialist.

I was worried this was going to happen

Why were you worried? Hasn't he been completely replaced by Johnson?

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Looks like the draft is going to be deep at safety

So, we pick a guy where it isn't as deep with our 1st, then come back to Safety with our 2nd.

Maybe a big, mauler DT that likes to play the run and hurt OG's.

It's not looking like a very good draft for 1st rnd talent at DT. Might have to go CB or hope that Zaven Collins the LB from Tulsa is there when we pick.

Josh McCown, Duke Johnson, Hilliard, Darren Fells, Pharaoh Brown, Roderick Johnson. Houston's offense has too much Browns' depth from our 2016-2018 squads.

If we are looking for a run-stuffing DT, that is more of a day 2 position.

Besides, there isn't a DT I'd take in the 1st round this year.

On a brighter note, Ogunjobi played better with Danny Shelton next to him covering up his run deficiencies and Sheldon Richardson played like a world-beater out of the gate his 1st 3 years lining up next to Snacks frickin Harrison. Thus far, Jordan Elliott seems to be the same mold.

If we decide to let Ogunjobi go next year and roll with Elliott, we really need to find a guy for the nose (long term, Billings is one-year and coming off a year without football). At least it would keep our LBers from having to cheat up in the box.

I agree. I think we’ll let Larry O go .. let’s not forget we also have Billings too

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I should probably preface my preference for a young, talented nose with the fact that we are about to face a guy I want in free agency in Dalvin Tomlinson.

I'd rather pay him 8 million per year than pay Ogunjobi the 6 million he will likely be wanting, run-stuffer or not.

Though as far as premium positions that you can't go into the draft with questions around, it would still be:

1a) DE
1b) CB

Safeties and off-ball LBer's (like run-stuffing DT's) are common day 2 picks for a reason.

Crazy that this roster has no offensive deficiencies (especially if the rumors are true that we are looking to extend Higgins), but holes at every single defensive position. Ugh.
