Not the same ad, but I remember being 8 or 9 when the McDonald's Menu song came out and my 12 or 13 year old cousin memorized it and sang it. I thought she was the coolest kid I had ever met!

I despise McDonalds and fast food, but like others I do get a craving for it every once in a while.

McD's fries and breakfast are spot on, though. Credit where it's due.

Fast food is a different experience for some more than others.

I'm not a big fan but will eat it on an occasion now and then.

While growing up we raised our own beef on my uncles farm. All grain fed Black Angus. My dad would buy a calf at the stock sale in the spring and it would be butchered in the fall. We were also hunters and fishermen.

We even picked berries for home made preserves.

My dad was an organic gardener before I even understood what the term meant. He bought a house out in the country just before I turned eight and a huge garden was his first priority.

When the beef was slaughtered, he only kept prime cuts. Rump roast and top steak cuts. Everything else was ground. As such, the ground beef was very lean. The burgers shrank very little from their original, raw size. And the taste was amazing.

As far as fast food goes it was a rarity for us. Playing sports the teams I played for would go for pizza after the games sometimes and we did do fast food on rare occasions. I think it was more a case that dad was giving mom a break in the kitchen than anything else. But even as a child I preferred the food we had at home.

It's hard to explain, but at least for me nothing can replace the food we had growing up. And while I do indulge in fast food from time to time, it's not very often. McDonald's is pretty much on the bottom of my fast food list. I will do a Hardee's burger from time to time. Luckily there's a McDonald's right across the street because my wife loves a Big Mac from time to time. And no arch, for the life of me I can't explain why.

I am a retired English teacher. FWIW, my class learned to diagram well enough to do the whole Menu song list.

I get misty remembering it. I was so proud!

No need to explain.

But, you mentioned something about berries.

I grew up with a woods for our back yard - well, beyond the yard.

Red raspberries and black berries........just go for a walk, and eat your fill, right off the vine.

I don't mind dill pickles on a sandwich. Or dill relish.

Put a sweet pickle or sweet relish on a sandwich and it will be removed.

I have a funny thing about tomatoes, I don't like them on sandwiches as they overwhelm the sandwich flavors.

There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

Hell no. Heathens. Should know pickles go on the side. And don’t get me started about pickles on a McRib. Yuk.

I think blueberries on a burger would be better than pickles.
But do you add them on the end or cook them in the meat.

I put dried cranberries in the burger meat before I cook them. Now that’s good. Never tried blueberries tho.

It's like a Carolina bbq... you get that vinegary bite/tang that goes with the sweet & savory. It's an extra layer of flavor happening.

I can't go with that. I like yellow mustard and I like butter pecan ice cream, but I would never eat them together. Its a crime against nature.

Reading the thread title at first I thought "Pickles"??? Buddys wife? On a sandwich?

Would have to be at least a 5' diameter bun.

Then I read the article.

There's some that will get it.

Hmmm?

If you know who Buddy Sorrell is, you get it. Clem is right. I think you need to be of a certain age.

Just think, in another decade or so we can use cursive writing as a code young people will not be able to read. wink

I was moreso thinking of a very old TV show. Early/mid 60's to 70"s-ish? Maury Amsterdam(Buddy) often talked about/mentioned/joked about his wife "Pickles" who, as I recall never was actually on the show??? Perhaps a cameo on the "very last episode? Can't recall.

Show ran for years.

Yep...Dick Van Dyke show. It didn't run in the 70's. Early sixties and ran maybe 5-6 seasons.

Pickle was Amsterdams wife...she was on the show, though not a regular. I don't know the name of the actress that played her.

I don't remember ever seeing her. In fact, I remember it was sort of the running gag.

As I recall, she was never on the show. Buddy made jokes about her at least 1-2 times an episode.

There was always rumor she would be on the last episode. For the life of me, can't remember. willynilly

It was a gag.

According to a quick search, Barbara Perry played "Pickles".

She didn't appear as much as I thought, though I never thought she appeared much. She appeared in 2 episodes in the first season.

Who was that tv star, that was not Morganna, the kissing bandit, and not Geenie from I dream of Geenie?

Computers couldn't help me. (The baseball just kept getting bigger and bigger,)

But when I remembered the catch phrase
computers could tell me

It was Charo, ( Charro

Coochie Coochie" Did you know it was Charro?

Some careers just wouldn't fly in 2020, that would never be accepted today. (A lady who just acts stupid and makes appearances on late night t.v. shows.)

Now a white guy? Don't get me started, ya they'd let a white guy act stupid, but anyone else, being portrayed as brainless or immature would be considered offensive.

Paris Hilton? The Kardashians? Cardi B?

The Dick Van Dyke Show is still on the air. I watched it last night, actually. It's on MeTV on Sunday nights; around 11pm, I think.

Not remotely so; they're just more current.
Like Zsa Zsa... they're just famous for being famous; it's off of that they got other opportunities.
