Start a little discussion, of various circumstances, that would be really beneficial to the Browns efforts to beat Pittsburgh and continue ON TO the Next hapless team for the Browns to take down on the road to the championship!

So One at at time!

The Browns will only beat the Steelers IF!

Chubb has at least one more yard than he had this past week.

Well for Instance Browns will only win this playoff game if.

1. If Ward plays, or

If they don't treat a 17 point lead as it's any kind of lead at all, because good teams like the steelers have, for years treated big games like as long as they stay within 17, they can use a quick turnover score, and an offensive score to get right back in, with momentum in a very small amount of game clock. or.

Browns will only win this next playoff game if

They hold the Steelers scoreless in the first quarter, because for years of study we can see that most steeler losses have the common characteristic of them being scoreless in the first quarter.

or Browns only win IF, They get lucky on defending deep pass attempts, and i.e. if covid doesn't effect any moreso the Browns secondary.

Stuff like that.

The Browns will only win IF: they can own the Line of Scrimmage.

In the first meeting, they were crushing us at the LoS on both sides of the ball. They ate us up and as a result we couldn't run and Baker had no time to do anything.

If our Lines don't get the job done, then we're done.
The don't have Bud Dupree any long, and they're missing a few other guys on D... and they will be without Haden.... these things help us immensely.

The Browns will only win if they actually run Nick Chubb. The past few games they've proved they don't know how to do that.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

This one may be tricky.

If, One Browns key offensive drive is helped out by either a defensive pass interference call,
or a roughing the passer call, at an opportune time.

or
I only see the Browns winning this next playoff game IF.

IF the Browns get a Strip fumble for six points
and an interception return,
one of which for six, and thus a +2 head start in turnovers.

They need to get ahead - If we get in a hole that front 7 will just tee off and strangle our offense. It’s genuinely the only facet of their team that scares me. If we can use their aggression against them - screens, etc - then fingers crossed.

Baker et al have a chance to make themselves legends if they win. It would also change the whole landscape in the division.

Run the ball successfully (+ 120 yards), control time of possession, win the turnover battle, get the defense off the field on 3rd down.

The offensive line is better in pass pro. They got too much pressure this week and it was without a couple of their key defensive players.

Good points made on this topic. Bottom line is we are going to have to play a nearly flawless game on both O and d as well as special teams. They have a good team and have had our # over the years. Spread the field, quick short passes to negate their rush, hit on those passes to open up the running game and no turnovers. On D try and put some heat on Ben to throw off their passing game which at this point short to medium range. It won't be easy and if we win I'll be surprised but I want to believe we have a good chance. A win at their place in a playoff game would be incredible.

Have to get ward, goodson and smith back to have a chance. Greedy said on twitter he wants to play but I'm pretty sure the doctors will say " no way"

Have to be able to somehow establish run game. The last 5 games we have become a passing offense. Need to get back to running. I dont remember seeing our FB out there much yesterday, we nees to punch the Steelers in the mouth.

On defense we have to limit big plays . Playing from behind takes away our running game

If we can handle their pressure (which means no sacks and TO’s)

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I hope we start early with screens and dump offs.. the extended run game. The Steelers are going to come hard after Baker and try to stop the run on the way to the QB.. to slow that down, execute a few nice screen passes for 20 yards.

Have to keep the game close (or be ahead) so the whole playbook is open. If we get behind far enough that we become one dimensional, we are in trouble.

The defense doesn't roll over and allow any opponent to do whatever they want whenever they want to. TEs have to be covered. Seam routes kill us and will end us. Blown coverages for quick scores cannot happen. We need pressure. And we have to figure out clayborn and juju.

Long odds but maybe.

The Browns will beat the Steelers by:
controlling the line of scrimmage and being physical. And getting Ward back would make me feel a bit better, especially if he can perform after the COVID.

We get our defensive players back from covid.

Mack Wilson is a healthy scratch

Our kicker makes his kicks

We win the turnover battle

Garrett gets his lungs back

First and foremost... we need to have our little COVID situation locked down and behind us. We start populating that list again and we're in real trouble.

Ben has been getting the ball out quick. I don't see Garrett having a big game at all. Vernon is also out, which means more attention will be sent Garrett's way. I think the main way the Dline can impact the game is by locking down what little run game Pitt has. As hard as it is to say, I think our secondary has to show up again. Getting Ward back will go a LONG way to handling their Claypool/JuJu combo. Let Ward lock down one of those, and then scheme the D for the other and the rest of the passcatchers.

Pitt's secondary was very pedestrian last game. I know they were missing Haden, but the rest were there, right? We need to have our Oline show up in a big big way to handle their up-front starters. Baker plays a huge role in making sure Watt and their D don't take over the game. Stefanski, too. Make sure Baker always has an option to get the ball out when he's in trouble, and feed Pitt a steady dose of Hunt and Chubb. I think we might want to start getting creative with Hunt... deliver him the ball out in space and let him go to work against LBs and DBs.

It seems to me that we've been playing from behind a lot lately, but I still think that we're a team that's best served by getting up a score or 2, and then just grinding away on their D with our run game.

If DPJ isn't back, then does that make Hodge our lone deep threat?

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

There was all kinds of moaning on this board because a certain referee was chosen to officiate last Sunday’s game. I thought it was the best officiated game I’ve seen all year in the NFL. The db’s were allowed to compete for passes for example. Enough of this nonsense about officiating. Players are paid to overcome adversity, including bad calls.

1) DL gets pressure on big ben consistently
2) Ward is back
3) We run better than we did last week (with exception of the long Chubb TD)
4) We win the turnover battle
5) The OL contains the Pitt pass rush

While I think the game Sunday was very well officiated, there are numbers that say the Steelers get a lot of breaks on penalties. I don't like to harp on blaming officials, but there do seem to be teams that consistently get calls.

This is an interesting analysis of penalties:

Last 5 games as the Steelers have struggled they are giving up 25 ppg. They have not given up over 30 all year... we might have to break the 30 point mark to win.
