Trump taking this nations highest civilian award and turning it into a joke. This is a total insult to those who have received it and have actually deserved it.
Trump reportedly giving Presidential Medal of Freedom to GOP allies Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan Peter Weber Monday, January 4, 2021, 5:51 AM EST
President Trump is expected to give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) on Monday, followed a week later by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Axios and The Washington Post reported Sunday evening. Trump "is using his final days in the White House in part to reward friends and allies with pardons and other decorations," the Post notes, and Nunes and Jordan are two of Trump's closest allies in Congress.
Jordan was a vocal and passionate defender of Trump during his impeachment hearings, and Nunes was one of the president's biggest allies in his effort to undermine the Justice Department's investigations of Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump cited Nunes' "bravery" in the Russia imbroglio when suggesting to Fox & Friends in 2018 that he might give Nunes the "very important" Medal of Freedom, after first calling it the Medal of Honor, the Post reports. The Medal of Honor is a military decoration while the Medal of Freedom is the nation's highest civilian honor, though Trump has bestowed that honor on some controversial recipients.
He's allowed to do it, but in all honesty, I don't have any idea what these two guys have done (limbaugh as well) to earn that honor. Other than be loyal to trump.

While Obama kinda made a joke of the Medal of Freedom himself (Biden, for doing his job), Trump (per the usual) had to ratchet it up to new levels of yuck.
As bad as status quo is, I can't wait to get back to it.

At the time when Obama gave it to Biden, He had spent 48 years in service of Country. So, no, Biden at least earned it.
Nunes and Jordan have actually done nothing of note other than be trump supporters.

That sounds great and all. Problem being never in our history has a president claimed anyone who said or printed anything that disagreed with him was the enemy of our nation. That the opposing party would destroy America. No, this isn't quite the same.

Trump awards Medal of Freedom to three golfers after his supporters attacked U.S. Capitol
PUBLISHED THU, JAN 7 202111:08 AM Kevin Breuninger
KEY POINTS President Donald Trump awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to three professional golfers.
The closed-door ceremony came less than a day after his supporters rioted inside the U.S. Capitol. The medals were awarded to retired golfers Annika Sorenstam, Gary Player and the late Babe Didrikson Zaharias.
A day after his supporters rioted inside the U.S. Capitol, President Donald Trump turned his attention to golf.
Trump on Thursday awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to retired professional golfers Annika Sorenstam and Gary Player, and posthumously to Babe Didrikson Zaharias, who died in 1956.
Trump, who in his last public appearance Wednesday urged Vice President Mike Pence to reject the results of the November election, delivered the medals in a closed-door ceremony.
Trump’s remarks to supporters at the rally outside the White House came just before a joint session of Congress convened to confirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
Pence, who presided over the event, declined Trump’s demands to reject lawfully cast electoral votes.
Trump’s supporters swarmed the Capitol, breaking through lines of law enforcement officers and invading the halls of Congress. The riots halted the proceedings and resulted in lockdowns and evacuation and the deaths of at least four people. At least 50 police officers were injured, police said. The National Guard was activated to respond to the attack.
Congress reconvened that evening, eventually confirming Biden’s victory after 3 a.m. Thursday.
The President Medal of Freedom is the nation’s highest civilian honor. It recognizes individuals who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”
The three recipients Thursday will join Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Charlie Sifford and Tiger Woods as the only golfers to receive the award, according to NBC’s Golf Channel, which first reported Thursday’s award ceremony.
Trump is an avid golfer, and his business, the Trump Organization, owns numerous golf club resorts. The president has visited those clubs hundreds of times during his one term in office.

Is buttcheeks one word? Or should I spread them apart?
You believe theories of this past election that originate from a group that believes satanic cannibals that drink the blood of children control the government.
Please check where your theories originate from, fish.

I had to Google your "satanic cannibals that drink the blood of children control the government" claim and Q[Anon appeared.
I know nothing about Q[Anon and never heard of them before the mgh888 character posted his/her thread.
FYI, I made a personal sacrifice of 3 years of my life for this U.S of A and know exactly where my beliefs originated from.
Take a look in your own mirror, bud...you'll see a person totally consumed in hatred...and it apparently started at a young age of protesting everything and anything!
Still putting that "hate label" on reality I see. I guess even an attack on the Capital building can't teach you that nobody has the market cornered on hate.

Hatred has never been a calling card. And any person with any experience with me knows that.
I've been called racist, on here, by more than 1. Because? I voted for Trump. So have I been called a Trumpian, and many other names. How do you like getting lumped into a class you aren't a part of? never mind, I can see how you like it.
Quote:
So for you of all people to put that label on me is as meaningless as your stance on a "stolen election." [/quote} Agreed.

So come again.
Then get in line with your pals who assaulted the capitol.
Get in line with your pals that burned and looted if you want to insinuate someone that voted for Trump supports what you just said.
That's the damn problem on here: labels.............and then just as you have done, you whine about it, and go right ahead and label others.
While I understand nobody likes it, when you try to claim everyone who protests are part of a riot, you get labeled. When you make excuses why people who riot at protests have a right to be violent, you get labeled. When you get to a point you refuse to expect accountability from the president and make excuses for obvious things he says and does that are insightful and full of hate, you get labeled.
Labels come from both sides and you aren't some special case here. Some people let this forum get under their skin more than others. Some people get more offended by those labels than others. But they fly freely from both sides.
It's no different than both sides on this forum accusing the other side of hate. Anyone who thinks either said has the market cornered on hate is a fool.
See, you just did exactly what you claim bothers you so much....

You're no better and or worse than those you claim are so terrible.

See, what I did there was exactly what you claim to do: I gave back what was given.
See, I don't care that you do it. A lot of that goes on here and it's to be expected I think. I'm not the one sitting here carrying on about it being done to me on a political forum. I know what I'm getting into when I post on here.
The difference is I'm not complaining about people doing to it to me at the same time I'm doing it to others. I guess it boils down to this. Don't be complaining about a problem when you have decided to be a part of that same problem yourself.
I know I'm going to get labeled. I get it from both sides sometimes and I still don't care. But you don't see me complaining about the meal being served while I'm helping to dish out the slop.
Actually, if you've bothered paying attention lately, I've been giving the left more crap about labeling people than the right doing it.
But carry on.

As we were told this summer........mostly peaceful protests. Despite the looting and burning.
The people that went into the capital building? I think/feel of them the same way I do the people in portland and other cities. Fry them - arrest, jail time.
I think of the rioters and looters this summer, the people that crashed the capital, and the guy that broke into my neighbors home, the same way. Put them in prison.
I'm sorry for Ashli (I think that's how her name is spelled), but she pushed it too far. JMO.
There were, apparently, leaders of our country (whether I like them or not) just down the hall. U.S. citizens can't just bum rush people they don't like. There are consequences. She paid the ultimate price, but what did it prevent? We'll never know for sure.
There can be no misinterpretation to what I stated.
They are criminals and should be prosecuted by a court of Law.
I peacefully protested against the Vietnam war. And watched innocent classmates murdered.
I protested peacefully for Civil Rights. Because I believed the cause was right.
I have never condoned violence and lawlessness.
My father served in WWII and was in Law enforcement.
We are a country of Laws. And I believe in Law and Order.
I also hold trump accountable for all the wrong that he has done. His presidency has been the worse thing that has ever happened to this country. As his presidency is dissected in years to come. History will show his stain on democracy.
Bill Belichick turns down Medal of Freedom from Trump
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will not take part in a White House ceremony honoring him with the presidential Medal of Freedom this week, he said on Monday.
In a statement obtained by ESPN, the Patriots head coach said while he was "flattered" by the honor, he cited the events of last week's violent riots at the U.S. Capitol as a reason for his decision to decline the award.
"Subsequently, the tragic events of last week occurred and the decision has been made not to move forward with the award," Belichick said in the statement. "Above all, I am an American citizen with great respect for our nation's values, freedom and democracy."
A longtime friend of the president's, Belichick and the Patriots previously visited the White House in 2017 after winning the Super Bowl, though the team did not do the same in 2019 after another win. Belichick was also named to the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition in 2018.
President Trump has faced widespread bipartisan criticism since the violent riot that overtook the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday in which he was cited with inciting the riot after he spoke to it, with lawmakers on both sides calling for his removal or resignation.
Trump's response and handling of the incident was widely condemned, particularly after he released a video message during the riot in which he stated his affection for his supporters and their efforts to pressure GOP lawmakers to overturn the 2020 election results by storming the Capitol.
The president has moved to honor a number of loyalists with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recent weeks including House members Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
