Well, I just want to say I'm disapointed but thanks for a great season. I guess it wasn't our year this year. With pretty much the same team comming back next year I hope Travis can find his bat in the offseason. We have C.C. for one more year I hope we can make the best of it.

I couldn't even watch. I flipped back and forth to the Sunday Night Football game. Hey, at least the Steelers lost.

They buckled in the pressure. We weren't beat at the end, we just didn't show up.
I'm not too impressed with CC who had chances to be the CY Young and leader and he didn't step up.
Let's hope we round by this and get better in stead of worse.

Tribe needs a few things and should be OK. Their inexperience showed in the ALCS. Maybe got a bit over confident and lost focus and then gripped when it came time to refocus.
Tribe needs:
1a. A corner outfield power bat. I don't see Kenny Lofton or Trot Nixon being back. Knowing the Indians, they'll try to fill it within by moving Blake to Right again and trying Marte at third again (sigh).
1b. A shortstop with some range. This might be fixed by moving Blake to RF, Peralta to 3rd, Cabrara to short (natural position) and Barfield to 2nd. Its up to Barfield to get his head out of his butt and hit the ball. With Cabrara and Barfiled in the middle, our middle defense is a lot stronger.
2. Need another starter and late bully guy. They have enough arms in the system, they just are inexperienced. It wouldn't hurt to get another vet somewhere on the staff.
3. Sports Psychiatrist. What transformed in the ALCS was a choke job by some key members of this team. CC, Hafner, Carmona, Perez, and a couple others could benefit from some sessions.

It was a great season. IMHO, Boston was/is the best team in baseball. The Indians should be tough again next year.
Hey, just think if our Browns were consistently in the playoff race like the Indians. I think that'd be pretty exciting, personally.
It's disappointing, but it was a great run.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

BINGO.....
I dont see a few guys coming back, Lofton, J.Micheals, Delliiuci, Nixon, and your right we were talking about tthat last night, we need another power hitter in Left, Blake will play were needed and lets give Marta a try, I'm not a fan of breaking up Peralta & Cabera, as for Barfield, 2nd year here maybe he will settle down and hit like he should have.
Pitching, We will need another 4-5 spot for the rotation, and yes another Vet is needed, CC, FC, Westbrook and the 4-5 open between Byrd, Lee, sowers and another Vet. Where A. Miller fits we shall see.
I dont think we can leave what happened in the turn around of our bull pen ideal, if we can improve it with somebody we need to do it.
Great year guys, ya know what it takes,

Don't rule out Aaron Laffey. He went 4-2 with an ERA a hair over 4.5 in 9 starts this year... at age 22. He has good upside. Honestly, I don't think I'd worry about signing another starter. The top three spots are taken with CC, Fausto and Jake. After that, let Byrd, Laffey, Sowers, Lee, Miller, Slocum, etc. fight for it. If there is a vet starter out there late, looking for a job, sure, but with the way that pitching markets have been in the past few years, I wouldn't go out looking for a player. I'd like to see a bullpen arm brought in, Gomez resigned as a utility guy (or an improvement if there is one out there), and maybe an outfield bat. Realistically, the team has too many OFs already. Dellucci and Michaels are each signed for 2 more years. Plus, there are Gutierrez, Francisco, and Choo who will each be out of options next year. I imagine a trade will be coming to clear that out a little, but I'm not sure signing another OF is an answer.

It was a good season by the Indians, and you guys should be proud of a young team for making it so far. But, I hate this excuse. You can't blame a team for spending money to win. We have no advantage over any other team, other teams have the option to spend as much money as we do, they just don't.

No. Market size, local media revenues and the such have nothing to do with spending at all...

I didnt mean the Indians. But, are you saying Chicago teams don't have the revenue to spend like we do? I don't know the numbers, but I'm going to guess they do. We're playing by the rules that are in front of us. It's the same kind of situation with Ohio State football. I don't blame Ohio State for playing the schedule that was put in front of them, but I do blame the Big Ten. Same situation. Blame Major League Baseball if you want, but you can't blame the Boston Red Sox.

I do blame MLB. I blame them 110%. I put no blame on NY or Boston. Just don't tell me that Tampa Bay or Kansas City can spend $150 Million on payroll and still be in business the next day.
Wait until the New Yankee Stadium opens in 2009. You want to see a payroll?

As much as I hate the payroll disparities...Boston and New York both do some investing and implement business strategies that we're years behind on.
When STO started up, the YES Network was pretty much perfected. STO, as much as I love it, feels like a backyard operation.
Roush-Fenway Racing? That has almost nothing to do with market size. But the revenues from NASCAR alone boost the Red Sox profit margins.
Hendrick-Tribe Motorsports would be awesome but I don't see it happening.
Will the Indians ever be able to spend as much as the Yankees or Red Sox? Hell no...but they need to be innovative in their business strategies to implement as much alternative revenue streams as possible, and NOW is the time to do it since you have a team that could be around for awhile.
As for next year...this is borderline crazy talk here...but should we go after A-Rod? That's blasphemous due to the money he commands plus Peralta really stepped it up with his bat in this playoffs. But here's my thinking behind it. Everyone talks about the outfield power bat. Personally, I wanna keep Lofton and Gutierrez out there...Lofton is experienced, consistent and is a leader. Plus he's the "Mayor of Cleveland," you don't just let true Indians walk. Gut is only gonna get better in time. Plus I like the concept of having 3 true centerfielders in the outfield as it gives us some serious range on D.
As far as A-Rod goes, he gives us that power bat in the lineup, suddenly Hafner and Martinez get pitched to. Plus, in the field, A-Rod would give us a shot in the arm on infield defense. Cabrera/A-Rod would be a very nice sight to behold in the infield.
That also doesn't add in the extra revenue nationally and even locally that A-Rod would bring in. It could possibly justify his insane salary. We also offer him a consistent chance of a winner outside of the limelight of New York. Think about how many games we lost due to our power outage in July/August...by adding a bat of A-Rod's caliber it virtually ensures we won't have a full-squad power outage like that next season. As far as him coming up short in the playoffs...he didn't come up short in Seattle, only in New York.
Crazy? Absolutely. Just crazy enough to work? You decide.
As for this season. This was the season that summer became fun again. I had always appreciated good pitching, but this was the summer that I learned to obsess and live for good pitching. Student ID nights, fireworks nights...always had a blast. This was the summer the magic returned.
Thanks for making me believe again...and judging by the attendance near the end and the playoff fever that ensued, thanks for making US believe again.

Even if STO was up to speed with YES, who will make more $$? YES will be in more homes and get more $$; market size again.
As for A-Rod, that's a pipe dream if for no other reason than it isn't worth the risk. Tie up 1/3 of the payroll on one guy? Due to guaranteed contracts, if he gets seriously injured, you're done for 7 years if not longer. We can't afford the risk.

I understand all of Pro sports are a business but MLB has fallen to the point where it's more privy to BUY a championship team than BUILD one.

I don't know how true this is, but I heard that Travis' father is very, very sick right now. His head may not have been completely on the game.
Thanks for a great season Tribe!

Things didnt work out ...understatment, but just a few things to remember
1. October baseball in Cleveland is just as magical as Yankee stadium & Fenway Park....still this run was alot of fun....
2. Lets not place blame on anyone or any area, if it wasnt for each and every player at some point this yera, we wouldnt have gotten to the post season.
3. Were young and have a good bunch of younger players coming up possibley for next year, ya it's hard to return as seen by the tiger fans, but we have a good chance next year.
great job tribe....Thanks

CC has always talked about being the ace of the staff. The staff has not had a true ace since Fartolo got shipped to Montreal. It would appear Carmona is just as much 'the guy' as CC. Well, it doesn't matter because a year from now CC will be signing a big money deal somewhere else.

Yeah Ammo, A Rod to the Indians.... OK if I don't hold my breath? And Clay? Whats with this "Great season BS"? They choked. They choked two years ago and they tried to choke this year but Detroit would'nt let them. Then they choked in the playoffs. They could'nt beat my Softball team in a big game, and don't any of you guys tell me to move on, the indians don't need fans like me. I will and have moved on.

Last year, the Indians narrowly missed making the playoffs,,, this year, they got in convincingly.. Who in thier right mind thought this team could make it to the World Series? Not me,, I was hopeful, but no, I didn't think they would make it all the way to the big show... So while I'm disappointed for the players and everything, I am happy for as far as they went... I'm damn proud of them!

I'm not a hardcore Tribe fan, but it was fun to watch this series. It's heartbreaking to get that close and lose, but the team does look very solid. For whatever reasons, our main guys just didn't step up when we needed them to. I was most frustrated with Hafner to be honest. He has one job - hit the ball. He doesn't field and only has to concentrate on hitting that little ball. Sometimes those hits go right to the defense, but at least hit the freaking thing. Just got a fat contract extension and buckles when that bat was needed most. That was most disappointing for me.

For the love of God, give the Red Sox some credit for beating a good team.
As for those who say the Sox 'bought' their pennant, take a look at our farm system. We've raised a lot of these kids from scratch. Not saying that the spending doesn't help but the team is solid from bottom to top.

You guys sure are taking this well. I know I would have been heartbroken to have been up 3-1 with only a game to win to get to the World Series and then lose those last three games the way they did.

Detroit wouldn't let us choke the season away? Wow.
All the Indians did this year was finish with the best record in all of baseball, win a division title, have a couple more young, core players emerge, topple the mighty Yankees in the first round, and take one of the two best teams in the game to 7 games in the ALCS. It hurts like hell but it was a good season. Not a perfect season but a good season.
