Or Patriots again

Gordon has met every one of my expectations. Ban him again? Who has done more damage to the game? Myles or Josh (or Goodell)?

Discipline should effectively change behavior.

Well, at least dude has some working capital while he's awaiting his sixth reinstatement...

Report: Josh Gordon sells Super Bowl LIII ring for $138K at auction

Mike Reiss
ESPN Staff Writer

Wide receiver Josh Gordon's championship ring from Super Bowl LIII, which he was gifted by the New England Patriots despite not playing in the game, has sold for $138,000 at a sports auction, according to SportsCollectorsDaily.com.

Gordon, 29, played in 12 games for the Patriots in their 2018 Super Bowl championship season but was suspended by the NFL in December of that year and missed the playoffs, which included a 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII.

He was reinstated in 2019, when he returned to the Patriots as a restricted free agent. Gordon played in six games for the team that season, totaling 20 receptions for 287 yards and one touchdown, before he was waived.

The Seattle Seahawks claimed Gordon, who appeared in seven games and totaled seven receptions for 139 yards, before the NFL suspended him on Dec. 16 for violations of the league's policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse.

It was his sixth suspension since the 2013 season and the fifth for some form of substance abuse, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Gordon's attorney, Adam Kenner, told ESPN that Gordon had a setback after the death of his brother in the fall of 2019.

Gordon officially applied for reinstatement in June, sources told ESPN. In early August, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said the team was "very open" to possibly bringing Gordon back if he was reinstated.

"Josh did a really good job with us last year," Carroll previously said. "He fit in really well. He was part of this team by the way we opened and embraced his coming to us, but also by the way he adapted. So we are very open to that thought, and we'll see what happens."

Can't believe the guy is still under 30. So much talent and time wasted. "Time wasted" if it was football he figured would build his life. If not, maybe he found something else more fruitful/enjoyable.

I've said this before but over the years I've been to dozens of training camps and I've never seen a better player up close than Josh Gordon.

Leigh Bodden is second.

what a disappointment.

literally anyone of us on this board would've done better if we had HALF of the talent this guy possessed.

Can't believe they would even consider giving him another shot.

Even more so, seems like that he got multiple shots, MUCH faster AFTER being released from the Browns.

I say this with a heavy heart and some hesitation, but I hope the guy lives past 40.

Enough. DQ him for life. Makes NFL look silly. I am all for fairness, but I draw the line at undue process where there is no bottom line to end the repeating loop. He has earned this, and everyone has worth, even if that is to serve as a bad example. JMO.

Lets face it, Gordon is a pretty darn impressive player. He's got skills. So if you can keep him on your team, he's an asset.

Can you imagine Landry, OBJ and him on the same team? Yikes.

But he can't stay off whatever drug he takes.... I'm glad he's not here anymore

Has Gordon ever finished a season without doing something to get suspended before the next?

I wish the NFL would just treat pot like alcohol and then put in a three strike rule for indefinite suspensions. I mean seriously, at this point, why does Gordon deserve to be reinstated? What could he have possibly done during this suspension that makes Goodell think he won't do it again? smh

Somewhere out there, there is a guy on the bubble that might have become a great player if he had that roster spot for a season or two to prove himself. Meanwhile Gordon will never get out of his own way to become a great player.

I'd suspend him for selling the ring.

I think 3 suspensions for the same infraction should be enough for permanent dismissal. At some point you realize they aren't going to change.

Point of discipline is to modify behavior. Goodell and a number of clubs haven't managed that. So he is a gifted player, and his time with us was proof. He seems to work hard and can follow rules at his convenience. Just will not. Has he finished a season, put in a full one for anyone in the NFL? Enough.

Josh Gordon's first two seasons were HISTORIC.

In their first 2 years, players with at least 2,450 rec yds and 130 rec:

JOSH GORDON
Jerry Rice
Randy Moss
Odell Beckham Jr.

Brandon Weeden: underappreciated around here, almost to the level of
William Green Rb.

Per source, Josh Gordon and the Seahawks were notified today that he has not satisfied all terms of his conditional reinstatement. He may attend team meetings and individual workouts but he is ineligible at this time to participate in practices or games.

Seahawks' Josh Gordon ineligible to practice after setback in battle with substance abuse, per report

By Jordan Dajani

It appears the Seattle Seahawks will not be adding wide receiver Josh Gordon this week. On Tuesday night, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reported that both Gordon and the Seahawks were notified that the troubled wideout had not satisfied all terms of his conditional reinstatement. At this point in time, he is reportedly allowed to attend team meetings and individual workouts but is ineligible to participate in practices or play in games. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Gordon had a "setback" in his battle with substance abuse, and won't be allowed to practice or play indefinitely.

On Sunday, it was reported that Gordon could join the team for the remaining two regular-season games. Per Pelissero, Gordon reported to the team with only seven percent body fat and at around 238 pounds. He appeared more than ready to suit up for the huge divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, but now it appears that won't happen.

The Seahawks were always big fans of Gordon, and even wanted to re-sign him after he was suspended for the fifth time due to violating the NFL's PED policy. Gordon was claimed off waivers by Seattle on Nov. 1 of last year, and caught seven passes for 139 yards in five games last season.

Unfortunately, Gordon's career has been defined more by his time off the field rather than his accomplishments on the gridiron, but when he has been on the field, he has been excellent. His 2013 season is still one for the Cleveland Browns history books, as he caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 games. In 63 career games, Gordon has caught 247 passes for 4,252 yards and 20 touchdowns while averaging 17.2 yards per reception.

This makes me sad. It really does.

As someone who found himself 'at the precipice' during his early adulthood, I have always pulled for folks like Josh. I suppose I always will.

I was lucky. I had an incredibly strong support system in my corner. They not only held me tight during my worst moments, but they also chewed me raw during my most stupid moments. I was just smart enough to let them help me- and I found the path that has led me to this moment. I got to save my future because of the influences of everyone who had always been with me in my past.

We all know Josh's backstory. It's what made me pull so hard for him all this time. I wanted him to make it to 60, look back, and say: "I got to have this in my life. I got to have all of it."

It just hurts every time I see The Story play out like this.

I try to never forget that these Sunday Superheroes are real people. This young man will still have a life after he leaves the NFL. Whatever will become of him?

I will still hope for the best for him.

What bugs me about it is that he doesn't seem to care.

He just keeps doing it.

Does nobody around him care enough to help him get help?

No, because he keeps surrounding himself with people that enable him - including the NFL itself that refuses to actually stick to holding him accountable for his actions.

I feel like, if he wants to smoke pot, it's not a big deal in the grand scale of life.

But it's against the NFL's rules.

So he needs to find an alternate career and that is where he needs help from a support system. Because "Just say no" doesn't work. Get a job, and then smoke all the weed he wants.

It'll be 24 years for me clean & sober on January 1st of this coming new year. Since I have some experience in matters like this I would just like to say I think there is a 'wising up' process that just isn't sinking in for Josh Gordon. Some people never learn, unfortunately.

Need to want it first, and he doesn't seem to want it. NFL has not provided consequences that have changed his behavior. Does Goodell have a number for barring him for good?

I hope JG gets better, somewhere other than the NFL.
