He'll fit right in. Could you imagine Ben and Dwayne at the err...gentleman's club?

Haha good point

What a relief, I was worried they'd sign someone good.

I hope this is their run of bad QBs for the next decade. IMO, this means Ben will be back, and with no cap space, they are taking a flier on him.

Don't Worry they'll get DeShaun Watson to join the Steelers if Ben is done, before the start of next year,

if just to make sure the Browns fans' lives remain miserable.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Let me tell you all something. They sign Hue Jackson as OC the way he develops QB's we are in trouble. You take Dwayne Haskins potential, raw talent and add Hues QB developmental skills, we as well as the rest of the AFC North are doomed. The Steelers could have a Pro Bowl QB for the next 10 years!!!! sick

The proof of Hues work is right in front for all to see. He developed Deshone Kizer, Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan. All top of the line career backups. Not to mention he had a hand in Robert Griffiths career. How many coaches have that on their resume?

( I forgot his name out of the blue in the middle of about to start this),

Ya, and he did whatever with uhh, what the heck is his name,
Tyrod Taylor, made Tyrod Taylor the #1 quarterback of the 2017-2018 Browns.

"he developed Dishone Kizer" - I kind of feel that belongs on a coffee mug somewhere.

(me playing devil's advocate)

I think Haskins is an example of the cautionary tale of making it to the NFL means you've made it. Haskins was so good in HS and OSU because he was talented and focused. He lost his focus. But he's still talented. I think PIT is taking a low risk flier on his being able to regain his focus and fulfill his promise. He was also in a poisonous situation in WAS. Snyder took Haskins over the objections of his coaching staff (at least that is what I've read. Don't have the reference on hand.) A new atmosphere with no pressure to perform right away may be exactly what he needs.

There is validity in what your saying. I was joking about Hue and Haskins but I'll say this. If there was a place that Haskins could resurrect his career and become a real pain in our backside it would be Pittsburgh. Let's hope it doesn't happen. The talent and potential is there if he is willing to learn and work. I hope not. fingerscrossed

This mug would start with his picture, maybe coach as well. Add your beverage. As things heat up, their pictures fade away and disappear.

I would buy one. I would gift someone with it. I can see it now . . . er, no, I can't see them now.

Sometimes the poetics are deafening.

exactly - it's almost no risk. Probably won't pay off, but maybe the Steelers can turn him around.

If that was the case, wouldn't they sign him to a normal contract vs a futures contact?

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Low percentage but almost no risk. Worth a try. I think he is being considered as a #3 quarterback, behind Ben and Mason.

I'd rather the Steelers be drafting 7 or 8 overall, not number 1.

It could be what he needs. There are many example of players who didn't make much of a splash right out of the gate.

It could also be that Haskins is one of those guys who never had much focus and was able to get by on raw talent at lower levels. It isn't as easy to do that in the pro ranks, so now might be the time for him to engage that part of his game, if he can.

j/c...
I guess more than anything this is confusing. Haskins seems like a bit of a basket case to date. I understand "upside", and you really can't fault the Steelers as far as that goes. Is upside worth a move that does nothing to improve your culture and is a danger towards making it worse? I guess not if he's a franchise QB, but to me, that is the only litmus test that would make sense. It's like you're churning this talent and hoping some cream rises to the top.

So look at the QB room now... Ben, whose better days are behind him (to put it mildly) making 41 million. Rudolph -- who can't move in the pocket, doesn't have a plus arm, isn't accurate. And now Haskins, who seems to have a decent arm but a low football IQ, has not played well, is a distraction off the field, has maturity issues, and seems pretty good at alienating teammates (particularly when bragging about his stat line after a 14 point loss).

To be fair to the kid, he hasn't done anything egregious, and people change every day. The fastest way to make a player walk tall and straight is to send him to a winning organization -- Pittsburgh has always been that. However, they're walking a fine line right now with some bad juju (pun intended) and this doesn't seem like it moves the needle in a positive direction.

You make it sound like they signed Tim Tebow or something.

He does have a baseball gig in the NY Mets minor league system (AAA Syracuse), and as a college football analyst for ESPN and SEC Network. He probably makes a tidy sum from endorsements and speaking appearances too. I'd say he's done pretty well for himself.

Yeah, but Brady Quinn never stuck a dagger into the Steelers' playoff hopes.
