Steelers are poised to pay 40,000,000 to Ben next season. That's a lot of money to a QB that has an arm that makes Colt McCoy's look like a rocket.
What would you do with 40 million dollars?

I believe it is actually 41.25 million, but that's splitting hairs.
The team is about 28m over the cap as it currently stands, including anticipate rollover. Cutting him, means 22.25 million in dead cap, but changes them to be only 9 million over the cap. This is an option, as is another restructure.
I hope they keep him another year at full salary (as a matter of fact, give the guy a raise for exemplary service)- that'd mean the rest of the team has to take the brunt of the cap overage - cut Haden, Decastro, and Watt to save the 28m (closer to 32m, but they need to sign their draft picks). After re-reading this, my idea sounds lovely to me.

There's no way I would pay that to Ben unless it's mostly guaranteed.

Many years ago I remember saying something about guys like Ben's careers end quickly, when they end.
He has had a super career, but that quick end is happening.
Heck, the guy needs a bigger helmet just so his face fits inside.

What would you do with 40 million dollars? That's not super high compared to current contracts I looked at for NFL Qb's. Now, Tim Couch got 7 million per year in 1999 and I thought that was insanely high, I do think NFL Qb's even with inflation since 1999 could be just fine with 7 million per year, but in actuality, it's closer to 30 million plus for Qb's these days, if they're real good.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Did you honestly save your most lucid thought for the smack shack?
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
