While true (bad football isn't == poor running of franchise, in general) it definitely was in our case.

ESPN did an article for the ages about the whole Sashi/Hue saga. It was all about the hilariously inept management.

Add: the Texans are chasing off their best player(s) and dismantled a playoff team, but we couldn't ever assemble that roster to get to the stage where we could have it implode. That tells me we were the worse-run of the 2.

I'll end it with my being glad we can talk about those Browns in the past tense.

I just hope the Texans do something rare for them of late and make AFC teams wanting Watson pay a heavy price. There would be very little chance that teams like the Steelers, Dolphins etc. could afford the price I would ask for Watson.

The Lions got two 1st's, a 3rd and a starting QB (albeit not a very good one) for a 32 year-old QB with 2 years left on his contract.

The Texans would have to get at least three 1st's (if one is this year AND a top 10 pick). So the "starting" bid is probably 4 1st's.

Then again, the Rams have traded away nine 1st's for less (I think).

Seriously though, Aaron Donald was a 1st round pick in 2014. Their next first round pick is 2024. They have Ramsey and Stafford to show for it.

Considering they traded two 1st's, two 2nd's and two 3rd's to get Goff to begin with, I guess Stafford value is four 1st's, two 2nd's and three 3rd's.

And yet over the past week we have threads on Dorsey. We have people blaming many from past regimes. I'm just being a thorn in peoples sides and your post is the evidence of that. wink

The Lions got more than fair value for Stafford.

It was obvious that the Lions were not going to get better with Stafford at QB. So it appear that both franchises lost confidence in their QBs...BUT...was it the QB or the quality of coaching that taught the QBs...?

The Lions won this deal, hands down!

What the Lions do with the draft picks is a question mark but there is no doubt they are now loaded with draft picks that will help their rebuild process.

The Rams better hope nothing happens to Stafford, such as a season ending injury. The Rams risk factor in this deal is huge.

One other thought..we don't know that Goff will remain with the Lions or whether Dorsey and the Lions have more wheeling and dealing planned!

To some extent I do. It seems to actually be the objective of many people who post here. I just saved myself a lot of trouble in the delivery system I use to do it.

Some people you can discuss things with. Some people you can't. I discuss things with those who try to and the rest get the "thorn in the side" treatment.

Normally I can have discussions with you. Not so much with the fan that just liked your post. wink

Here’s a thought I had, and it may be a long shot: do the Ravens call the Texans and offer Lamar and a 1st round pick?

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

No doubt the Lions may still draft a QB if one falls to them in the 1st and look to trade Goff for yet another 1st to a team that drafts later, but that's pretty heavy conjecture at this point.

That would be pretty wild as far as a rebuild goes..."You've just drafted your QB of the future and in essence traded your previous QB for now three 1st round picks and a 3rd, what's next?"

Heck, there's a chance they could get more than a 1st for Goff if they re-dealt him. An extra (second) 3rd, perhaps?

That would be pretty hilarious. Imagine Goff's confidence level if that happened!

If I were the Texans I'd hang up the phone.

You have to completely re-haul your offense around Lamar. He's a good player but he does require a specific offense to thrive in.

Watson's starting bid is four 1st round picks to me. The Texans are going to release Watt anyway, without Watson the have no one to pull fans in. It would be straight back to expansion mode practically and Lamar would get destroyed while they tried to install that offense.

I mentioned it in another thread..the Stafford trade pretty much shot down Watsons desire to be traded.

The Stafford trade would only be the starting point for Houston.

I doubt anybody pays that.

Colin is 100% correct here.

I mostly don't disagree. The biggest problem for Watson is Watson just signed a contract extension.

If it sucked that bad, why did he do that? Was it because he was given a $27 mil signing bonus?

It looks much like a gold digger who marries someone, then a year later seeks a divorce and half the estate.

He signed his extension when he had weapons around him.

Then O'Brian comes in and trades away hopkins for pennies on the dollar.

They then tell him that they would include him in any hirings they make to the front office. And instead of doing that they hire Nick Caserio... which made it more difficult for them to go out and get Salah or Bienimey....

Then they go out and hire whatshiswhatever... I'd feel pretty betrayed by a team for doing all of that

Although some old school guys are disagreeing with Watson's demands for the most part fans, players and coaches are saying or thinking the Watson has a point and a "good for him" attitude.

Right a way Colin wants to look like the hero for a black QB as he definitely hints that because he is a black QB he is getting torn down. Not true the guys he is mentioning are all old school guys and they would be down on any QB doing it the way Watson is.

And its not the same situation as with Stafford.

Colin the emancipator...give me a break.

Me, Watson is getting killed out there. The team was tearing down and selling whatever they had. LT gone stud WR gone. He didn't want a strip down and rebuild I agree with him and he's going to get his due!

Sorry if I'm coming off as a pest, but I'll still point out that the situation itself hasn't changed... only more things are coming to light. The more this happens, the more it should inform people's response to Watson demanding a trade and/or holding out.
