https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/chick-corea-obit-1127283/Return to Forever, along with Mahavishnu Orchestra and Weather Report, were the best of the fusion '70's bands (imo). The Miles Davis tree was a large one. Still have Romantic Warrior on vinyl. Great musician. RIP

Return To Forever.
Josef Zawinul was the keyboardist for W. R.

A few years back I watched the Jaco Pastorius documentary "Jaco", and in it there was a really interesting interview with one of the musicians who described the few times in the mid '70's when those big three bands toured together.
He talked about the sort-of healthy rivalry between Corea and Zawinul plus that between Jaco and Stanley Clarke ( the second best bassist of the time, imo).
It makes me wish I'd been a bit older so that I could have seen them.

Got to see them all. Saw Chick's RTF quartet AND the Musicmagic Big Band Saw Weather Report on campus (tix were 5.50 with student ID) the last year they featured Alphonso Johnson on bass. Saw Jaco's Word of Mouth touring combo a few years before his death.
It was great to be in my 20's at this time. So much great groundbreaking stuff during that time- and it was great to be on the bleeding edge of the movement.

RIP Chick
A very talented individual, but he explored beyond bounds I found appealing.
