Honestly i would sign Whitehead, Anderson and Shady grady. Those 3 with Roye and the Smiths would give this unit a massive boost in talent.

Those guys aren't buddies with Romeo the way Ted is.
Romeo thinks Ted is still playing well.

Willie Whitehead that played for the Saints. Never did have big numbers but a solid force in stopping the run.

I would say it's more that TW isn a POSITIVE influence in the locker room and not someone that flat out refuses to work within the system, complains about everything from contract to schemes in the locker room, and ignores the play calls because they want to get theirs and screw the team.

Not trying to argue this point with you, but wasn't there an article a couple weeks ago that said Washington "growls" at his teammates and Browns employees and they're starting to tune him out?

Just clicking away...
Grady Jackson can still be very effective against the run in a limited capacity. He's not Sam Adams, he can still play. The Falcons are mostly a one gap team, but they were lining him up in the zero gap on running downs.
I don't think he's worth signing, but I'm sure he doesn't stay unemployed.

Listening to Rac's presser he said they weren't interested in Grady at the time.

Not a shock. It seems like they are resigning themselves to poor DL play this year, build it up next year.

And that may very well be what's best. I personally can't think of too many mid season patchwork moves that really work out all that well.

At this point I find it hard to believe that one addition on the line won't improve if that guy is a upgrade from any of our linemen..

There's no question specifically about upgrade. He would most definitely be an upgrade to Big Ted for sure.
The thing I wonder, though, is: Can we pull this guy in for a decent, short term deal that would justify a midseason patchwork? I imagine that we won't just be able to sign the guy for the rest of the season which is what I would want, IMHO.

I think Phil doesn't want to go there as he said this morning..I think he feels Grady is a headcase.. He said he's bounced around a number of different teams plus Phil wants not only on field chemistry he looks at off field activity..

NRTU, but to the comments that Phil made. We can bring in former Bronco wide receiver David Kircus, who may be looking at 5-6 years in jail, for a tryout but Grady's not worth a look?

Not the way he disrupts the locker room. He's a cancer. You don't build a team with cancers in the locker room. You get rid of them.

I did a quick google search on Kircus.. geez, that kid has a bunch of unflattering issues in his past...
I wouldn't touch him,,, Hey,, speaking of that, when was he brought in for a look?

Yeah I read some quotes from Phil in his radio interviews where he states that he is not interested in Grady. Something about not wanting to upset the good chemistry we got going.
1. Our Defense - I want that chemistry changed a little as it is providing a little stink right now.
2. Our team is 3-3 and got a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way...I think we got a winning team going on and that is a cure all WINNING. Grady got thrown off teams that are losing and yes, he might be a cancer in those environments...I think we got an environment that does not dwell on what we do if we LOSE!
3. So his attitude stinks even though we are winning - can his butt after the season and we used his services for a gaping hole.
4. So we cut a guy like Sorenson for him...Sorenson came here to replace Baxter as the guy who sits down and goes on the inactive list. We don't have to cut TW or Kelley or Leonard. Its not like Sorenson is going anywhere?
I'm not sure if Grady is the answer...but the guy has GAME! and our Defense is ranked 31st(???) at the moment. I know we want Discipline across the board on our Defense but to what expense of TALENT?

Apparently our defense has such good chemistry and performance that we wouldn't even dream of adding another run stuffer.
I don't care if our chemistry is so good that Big Ted and Ethan Kelley hold hands while skipping through flower patches singing Happy Together - they can't stop the run worth a lick. For some unknown reason, Phil barely improved our defensive line last off-season and he isn't making a move to fix it mid-year, even if it means "changing chemistry".
The sad thing is... I'm not surprised in the slightest. Look at how long we waited and how many bums/late round picks we suffered through before Phil finally realized we needed QUALITY on the o-line. Come on Phil... if your line isn't functioning on either side of the ball, your unit isn't either.
We're... we're good?

Spectre,, I don't think they would have one problem at all looking at a Defensive line guy if he wasn't a problem child.. Grady Jackson has plenty of issues not least of which is he's suing the NFL and Falcons... So maybe they don't want him because of those issues..
Not sure, but maybe!

If that's true then I'm less discouraged. We NEED help.
Daman - I understand he "may" have some concerns about his character (even though his team seemed to be upset he was cut) but with how absolutely awful our line has been, we have to make a move somewhere. We can only win so many games giving up the yardage we do on the ground. It wouldn't be like bringing a guy like TO to the team on a long-term basis... I would consider it more of a 2007 bandaid that can bring us ever so slightly closer to respectability on D (even if we chuck him to the curb after the year).
The only way you consider chemistry IMO is if you like the results that chemistry provides. Can we seriously say we're happy with where we are right now on the D-line? I mean, really... if we bring Grady in, does Phil think he'd rip our defense apart, destroy their chemistry and fall from... 30th to 32nd against the run?
We can't get much worse with a change, but the sky's the limit for improvement... if only because we're so dangerously close to rock bottom.
We're... we're good?

Yeah, that's why I said that wouldn't make me feel as discouraged. We need some new blood on our D-line and Anderson/Jackson are at the top of my list.
