The only way you consider chemistry IMO is if you like the results that chemistry provides.
Another point-of-view: You should also consider chemistry when your squad is fragile. It's only been less than 2 seasons since this team was in Atlanta's situation, chemistry-wise. It's possible that Phil would rather not run the risk of seeing this team re-fractured after just now starting to get things right.

Can we seriously say we're happy with where we are right now on the D-line?
Of course not.
Quote:
I mean, really... if we bring Grady in, does Phil think he'd rip our defense apart, destroy their chemistry and fall from... 30th to 32nd against the run?
Possibly. Or, he could also be concerned that such a locker room cancer could rip even the O apart, as well. Once cancer attacks, it's pretty indiscriminate about where it spreads. Under this scenario, more is at stake than simply run D stats.
... just another way of looking at things, Spec. Not sure if that's really where Phil's head is at this point, but it makes a bit of sense to me...

Spectre,, if you take the time to listen to Phils Presser from today.. you will see that bringing Grady Jackson in was almost an after thought. Phil said he remembers scouting Jackson and called him a true nose tackle. My guess is that he knows more than we do about the guy's character..
As for how much damage a bad character guy can cause.,., look no further than the Cinncinnati Bengals..
Just because you either don't understand or will not accept the Browns decision to NOT bring Jackson in, is no reason for you to say that a bad Character guy can't affect the team that much. If I wanted to (and I don't) I can probably go back in time and site plenty of examples of what one bad apple can do to the whole bunch...
Lessening the effect of a guy like this just to make your point doesn't make it so my friend... it just doesn't!

Tim Anderson, Played DT for the Bills and formerly Ohio State. He wasn't a bad DT, just didn't fit in with the Tampa 2 they run in buffalo.

OK well hopefully the issue with him in Buffalo is that he is a 2 gapper in a one gapper Defense?

never really meshed there with the coaches, he knows where he was comfortable playing and they wanted him to play out of his comfort zone. Weight was another issue, the team wanted him to play at xxx weight and he felt more comfortable at xxx.

Please dont take this as directed at you, I just have a problem with players in any sport who ya hear make excuses like the ones listed above, ok i do agree to a certain point of playing a diffrent uncomfortable postion, I can buy that, but the weight issue when coming from a player making millions to me is a lazy excuse, or whinning about the coachs, he didnt mesh....you work for them, They tell you to run you run, see to me those are excuses, not reasons, and once again maybe I'm seeing things into something that isnt thier, but after hearing those things come out of G.Warrens mouth over the years Lazy come to mind, RAC wont sign Lazy players,

I don't see that as an excuse.....sometimes players fit better in other systems.
In baseball, you are going to have a hard time turning a homerun hitter into a leadoff hitter.

Some players aren't versitile and are comfortable playing one position... Those type of players are needed because that position is their specialty. If Anderson was playing DT and they had him playing DE..well thats out of his comfort zone.. If he is a one gapper and they're playing him two gapper he may not be strong doing that.. Good coaches put their players in position to win their individual battles..

Very well said Attack Dawg... and just a side note Tim has lost 5 lbs since being released by Buffalo alot of his problems in Buffalo dealt with the coaches and the type Defense they ran

Sentence taken from my statement.....I agreed players can have probelms playing out of thier postion...No argument from me here, my problem is when they complain about weight or coachs.....Sorry out here in the real world, we dont get to pick our bosses and we have our worl releated problems and we deal with them, I just dont have the tolerance for whinny atholetes..Just my opinon, right or wrong it's mine

I agree.
You want some control over playing weight, but you have to look at many things rather than just say gain 20 or lose 20.

It is only a waste of time if they sign him and he does zippo. At the present time I see no reason NOT to bring him for a look-see. Sign him if he can help, don't sign him if they don't think he can. The only way to find out is to take that look. We are so short on the DL, how can this hurt? Just my opinion though.
Hope springs eternal in the heart of a true Browns fan. GO BROWNS!!!!!

Who brushed him off? I saw were two guys were joking with him ( Clay and Attack) and said so after he responded. Besides, it is always wise to take what someone says with a grain of salt until they are proven to be trust worthy.

I will tell you as soon as i know, he's going to call us as soon as its done, his physical is at noon and he's going to work out for the coaches around 3 or 4. He worked out for the bengals last week. They wanted him but said they had to make some roster moves. He is going to TN to work out tues. but the browns told his agent they were very interested and to not sign with any team until they talked to them first. he's really excited about possibly coming here.

he is in the drivers seat. play better then the folks in cement shoes on the DL and he's got a spot.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

After how absolutely horrendous our d-line has been, I think it's safe to say the feeling's mutual.

I am far from being the football, GURU, but I do not understand why the Browns do not look at or consider other prospects during the season , especially during some of the cuts that I have seen from other teems that would immediatley help us, as we sorely need on the 'D'.

Call me BUT...we could use Tank Johnson a ton...AND if BE or JJ get hurt for a couple of games, we'll be wishing we had A Bryant. Look...I get the "bad apple" syndrome. But sometimes you've got to take a chance to get better. You can always cut these types. A few "risky apples" is a lot different than a bushel full of them (Bengals). We NEED to pick up someone...anyone...who MIGHT make this D better.
