Game against Detroit is a guaranteed win. Lions will be one of the worst, if not the worst, teams in the NFL. My way too early prediction is Browns win the division with a 12-4 record.

On paper I agree with you. However, our lifetime record against Detroit is 5-19 and since 1958 they haven't exactly been very good. I've brought this topic up before about us not being able to beat certain teams. Denver and the LA chargers are 2 more we play lousy against. Yet, we have a winning record against the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles, franchises much more successful than Detroit. Can't understand it.

Yeah, when we were playing at Dallas I was strangely confident that we’d play well ... same thing against the Giants. (We also play well against the Saints for some reason)
Detroit definitely is one of those teams we’ve struggled with for whatever reason.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

According to Peter King the NFL will be adding a 17th game in 2021. Our game will be against Arizona in Cleveland.

Excellent!
Hopefully, that means one less preseason now on the schedule from a STH standpoint.

It does.
Looks like 1 more potential Cleveland trip assuming attendance gets back to normal. If not, I will go to as many games as I am allocated.
I opted out last year. Not this year. I miss my gameday weekends.

I'm assuming the extra wildcard spot was a one time thing? A shame,I think it is good for the league and fans

I believe it is here to stay.
16 extra regular season games 2 extra playoff games.
Too much TV money on the table to pass up.
I'm surprised they aren't adding a 2nd bye-week to stretch the season.

Would not be surprised or upset to see 2 more playoff teams added, 8 per conference with 2 byes (Teams 1-2) then 3 would play 8, 4-7 and 5-6 with 1 playing the lowest remaining seed and 2 playing the 2nd lowest remaining seed, had there been 8 teams last season MIAMI 10-6 would have made the playoffs in the AFC and ARIZONA 8-8 would have been team #8 in the NFC ...

You'd end up with 5 teams in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
If it went to 8 teams no one would have a bye week.

True didn't see that, still 1 Vs 8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 and no byes would be ok with me

REviewing the teams they play after free agency:
Broncos are looking to be a solid team... they shored up their defense.. But Lock is not frightening.
NE? Cam is back... kinda a wild card team they surrounded him with some help. Definitely improved
Pittsburgh is still going to be tough. THey have to shed cap... and JuJu is gone. I don't expect them to win the division but we can still probably see a 10 win season... just enough for the Rooneys to not fire tomlin. Cincy lost AJ Green but they have weapons stil. Burrow should bounce back.. but I don't think the Bengals have the tools to be consistently good
Chicago picked up Dalton... If they protect him, he will be serviceable. But they don't look good.
IMO 10-6 should be the basement for this team... 12-4 being very possible
Looking at the schedule I think every game is winnable. It jut comes down to execution IMO
at Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals Baltimore Ravens Cincinnati Bengals Pittsburgh Steelers Denver Broncos Las Vegas Raiders Chicago Bears Detroit Lions Houston Texans at Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers at Minnesota Vikings at New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers

We can play with all of them says the homer fan inmate. Wondering who on these teams leaves. We could be sitting well if we get after our defense. Tackling improves your chances mightily. Berry is making me optimistic.

I feel we should have a very good team that can play with anyone. However, that is a difficult schedule. We have our usual tough 6 division games. We have 3 teams on the schedule we hardly ever beat and have a poor lifetime record against namely Denver, Detroit and the Chargers. Green Bay is tough and so is KC. We should be in all these games but we may not win them. I feel 9-10 wins could be a real possibility. JMO

So I'm guessing the Steelers will play another first place team (Seahawks). That's good news.

So I'm guessing the Steelers will play another first place team (Seahawks). That's good news. I don't know. I think I might rather play Seattle than Arizona. It kind of feels like those two teams might be going opposite directions, though if Wilson and the team square things away and start winning that could change. QBs and HCs butting heads can lead to divided locker rooms and that rarely ends well. That and a pass rush led by Chandler Jones is a bit more worrisome than the one the Seahawks have. Plus, we got burnt by Chad Henne scrambling on us, Kyler is a different animal entirely. Steelers and Seahawks both feel a bit like they're still living on their old reputations. Both can be dangerous, but more in a "once as good as I ever was" kind of way than consistent week in and week out excellence. Each season is its own, though. There are always surprises. On paper, we should be good enough to play with anybody regardless.

9 and 8, yikes.
( A 17th game is now official, somewhere in the back of someone's mind, the "legacy of the 2017 Browns" draws a wry, sinister, slight, smile.)
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Just made it even more difficult to draw a perfect season/playoff/super bowl...
Ultimately making the 72 Dolphins a unique feature.
I was hearing that they're just going to slap all these games on as week 18? Feels kinda crap to do it that way. Because the Ravens playing The rams in week 8 is far different than the ravens playing the rams in week 18
They're also intending that they want to do an "international week" where everyone plays on a neutral site.... I dunno about "week" but As long as its in the middle of the season or before the BYE weeks I'd be intrigued. Also the teams all don't lose home games in this situation

I kind of like the idea of an international game played between two separate conference teams in the long run, I just don't think it will be good for the players.
If come 2023, they've added an extra bye-week and break up the international games in the middle of the season, sure.
17 games +2 bye-weeks. 19 weeks.
the 16 extra games go international in places like Toronto, London (of course), Mexico City (in winter :)), and a mainland Europe game (Germany?). Maybe even a British Columbia site for western Canada...sure.
There aren't 16 viable sites to do it all on one week though.
Toronto, London and Mexico City have been targets for the NFL for a while. Maybe 4 each in those, and a couple other sites for the remaining 4 games spread out between weeks 4 and 15 or some such.
Not at the end of the year though. It ruins the final week/playoff run. Not to mention it would be a competitive disadvantage for a team to play abroad and have to turn around and play a wild card game.
Just my 1 cent.

I just wish the NFL would deal with bye weeks fairly.
My idea would be to close down the entire NFC except one division and close down 1 division in the AFC. That allows all networks to have TV games to show. The following week close down the extire AFC except for the teams that played the previous week and NFC teams that played.
That way all team in a division would be off the same week and all teams would be getting a bye more or less in the middle of a season, or season split if they go to two byes per season.
I don't like this stringing out byes when some teams are getting them in week 4 and others in week 13. Let's try to balance this out. I think both fans and players would like this idea and the networks who's conference is on bye would still have 2 division rival games to televise.
As it stands with 17 games, all teams would get their bye in weeks 7-8 or 8-9 depending where the NFL decided the split would be with a odd numbered schedule.
As for international games, I am not a big fan, but at any rate, the teams that play those should play them the week before their bye to allow recovery from travel time.
