ttt...that's neat !

I'm watching video display of the Decorah Eagles in Iowa where mating is still going on and egg laying should start soon.

Spring is coming, though the temp in Iowa is minus 7 this morning.

Big Bear Bald Eagle cam.

I was watching this 3-4 days ago. If it's the same one(cam), she's sitting 2 eggs.

I check in every day for a few(3-4) minutes.

Good sign......7 bald eagles fishing at Lake Logan, Hocking County, Ohio

Convocation of bald eagles seen fishing at Ohio’s Lake Logan

Bald eagles at Lake Logan, Hocking County.

LOGAN, Ohio (WCMH) — A group of seven bald eagles fishing at Lake Logan, in Hocking County, was captured on film by an ODNR photographer.

Tim Daniel posted the picture. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website, winter is the perfect time to see bald eagles roosting along rivers, sitting on frozen lakes, or exploring open fields.

Eagles carry sticks this time of year to reinforce the nest, called an aerie. A group of eagles, like the one seen at Lake Logan, is called a convocation.

Bald eagles in Ohio typically lay eggs and incubate in February and March, nesting in large trees such as sycamores, oaks, and cottonwoods. Meanwhile, frozen lakes and rivers force the birds to expand their hunting grounds in search of fish and carrion, their foods of choice, the ODNR website said.

Bald eagles are protected under both state law and the federal Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, making it illegal to disturb bald eagles. When viewing these majestic birds, remember to respect the bird’s space and stay at least 100 yards away. Disturbing bald eagles at the nest site could lead the pair to abandon the eggs.

Here's a good chart showing the head plumage of bald eagles as they age.

Society is fragile, I can't believe, in my short lifetime, the majority of times I read anywhere, everywhere, people have shattered the language of this American speaker to where almost nobody uses the words were, or are anymore or appears to readily understand that plural or singular subjects matter. Is it subject, or object, I don't know those rules, but dang sure it still sounds terrible to me for someone to use the singular for the plural or vice versa, and for someone to not use a word an in front of words that start with a vowel, a vowel not a consonant, at least in the sounding pronounciation of them.

What Is the Current Price of Tea in China?

By Staff WriterLast Updated Mar 25, 2020 6:13:03 AM ET
The current cost of tea in China depends on several variables including the type of tea and worldwide demand for it. Other determining factors include whether or not it is considered fair trade tea, international tariffs and the state of the Chinese economy in regard to international relations.

High demand specialty teas are sold for in excess of $4,000 American dollars per 100 grams. Fair trade tea also commands a premium. For the past several years, the price of tea in China has been rising. An increase in the demand for tea, as well as the growing Chinese economy, are commanding higher prices on the international market.

Didn't know the Mentor Marsh had a bald eagle nest.

3 eaglet eggs hatch at Mentor Marsh nest
By Chris Anderson | April 25, 2021 at 10:01 AM EDT

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Mentor Marsh is home to three newborn baby bald eagles.

Three eaglets hatched from their eggs recently at the Mentor Marsh’s bald eagle nest, putting the “icing on the cake to end this Earth Week.”

Bald eagles were once classified as an endangered species, but because of decades-long efforts, the birds are no longer named on the federal endangered species list.

Mentor Marsh, accessible at 5185 Corduroy Road in Mentor, is a nature preserve partnership between the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

I didn't know there is a bald eagle nest in Eastlake.....

A bald eagle pair in Eastlake, Jackson and Kindness, have recently brought in a new addition to their lives - a new eaglet that hatched on April 3 this year.

A bald eagle pair in Eastlake, Jackson and Kindness, have recently brought in a new addition to their lives -- a new eaglet that hatched on April 3 this year.

The American Eagle Foundation has now launched their annual naming campaign for each nest, including Eastlake's, which is open to the public. On May 17, the new name for the eaglet will be announced, said Betty Delfosse-Henninger, an Eastlake nest liaison for the nest of Jackson and Kindness for the foundation.

Delfosse-Henninger said people interested in submitting names are encouraged to avoid pet names, but rather choose a majestic name that would be fitting for an eagle. They should also avoid names being repeated. The week of May 10, members of the American Eagle Foundation will have their chance to vote before the new eaglet is named.

"This was his (Jackson's) first time mating and having an eaglet, so it's exciting that he was so young when he came in and now they're (Jackson and Kindness) a real bonded pair with an eaglet," Delfosse-Henninger said.

Kindness was previously with another bald eagle by the name of Justice and the two had their nest at Bruce Yee Park in Eastlake, she said. Nest cameras were then put up in the park so the activity could be monitored.

"Last spring, there were a lot of other eagles coming in and fighting, and they ended up chasing off Justice," Delfosse-Henninger said. "One of the intruders was Jackson and they were all fighting for Kindness, and he was a very young eagle then.

"They don't turn completely white until 5 1/2 years of age, and he still had a little bit of caramel color in his head and little bit on his tail feathers, so we knew he was a youngster."

Jackson now has all of his whites and his plumage, Delfosse-Henninger said.

Kindness accepted him and their bond began.

"What we believe happened is because there was a lot of fighting in that park, we believe Jackson wasn't comfortable using that nest, so they started building a nest by City Hall," Delfosse-Henninger said. "We weren't sure if that was really going to be their nest, but they really got busy on it and built a huge nest in a very short time. That is where they are now."

"To actually know the pair, our volunteers know every habit. They know when they fly a certain direction, what trees they're going to or if they're going to the lake or a river."

Volunteers, which are referred to as the boots on the ground by the American Eagle Foundation, assist in running video footage daily for six to eight hours to the nest. As liaison, Delfosse-Henninger puts together volunteers and others to track what's going on in the lives of the eagles.

"When I say track, I mean submit daily where they've been, what they've been doing and what's been going on at the nest," she said. "We have a record of their patterns and what they do, and this helps with conservation and further understanding of the life of the bald eagle.

"We all participate together and became a bunch of friends who did this," she added. "We have people in other countries who are looking for information about these eagles."

Delfosse-Henninger said it's always amazing when a bald eagle is sighted, but it goes beyond just that.

"To actually know the pair, our volunteers know every habit. They know when they fly a certain direction, what trees they're going to or if they're going to the lake or a river," she said. "They've been following them since 2017, so they know all their habits. It's really neat to come full circle with how sad we were last year when Justice got chased off and to see the new eagle come in, and then to just watch them bond, build another nest and now have an eaglet."

Delfosse-Henninger said Jackson's habits and his quirks are now known and something beautiful to watch.

"Most people don't even realize how many eagles we have around Ohio. They went from endangered to protected," she said.

Didn't know Condors have a 9 foot wingspan. Also didn't know condors were once considered extinct. A victim of DDT as well?

Flock of endangered California condors ‘trash’ woman’s house, delight bird enthusiasts
By NANCY DILLON
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
MAY 06, 2021 AT 2:19 PM

A flock of endangered condors are driving a California woman cuckoo after taking over her deck and creating a foul mess.

“Over the weekend, (approximately) 15 California condors descended on my mom’s house and absolutely trashed her deck,” daughter Seana Lyn shared in a Tuesday night Twitter post that went viral.

“It sucks but also this is unheard of, there’s only 160 of these birds flying free in the state and a flock of them decided to start a war with my mom,” she tweeted.

The massive birds, which have the largest wingspan of any North American bird at around 9 feet and weights similar to that of an average 3-year-old human, went extinct in the wild in the 1980s but have since been reintroduced thanks to conservation efforts.

“(My mom) does think this is pretty amazing but also the worst. They don’t have to leave her property but leave the house alone. They keep hanging out on her roof and railings messing with stuff and pooping everywhere. Trees are fine but not the house please,” she wrote.

“Tell you mom to give in and hand over the elk carcass. They know she has it,” one Twitter user joked.

A staffer with the U.S. Fish and Game Twitter eventually commented with some helpful information, saying the mom’s home “is located in historical condor habitat where natural food sources occur.”
