I'll take an older CB on a one-year deal until we know more about Greedy's long term...sold,sold,sold.

I always thought Geno Atkins was really good. He certainly gave our OL problems over the years. But I'm not sure about his health now, or why he played so little last year.

A couple buddies I play hockey with down here said that Carlos Dunlap was a bit of a headcase and low-key attitude problem a little before his getting sent out of town this year. I wonder if Atkins is a similar case.

There has also been local rumblings of Zac Taylor doing a pretty poor job of handling the vets on this team.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Shoulder injury, I believe.

I kind of doubt Atkins was a headcase. He always seemed like a high-motor type to me. 2 time All Pro and 8 Pro Bowls are good indicators of his production.

Thanks - your links says he had surgery in late December to repair the torn labrum. Bad injury for any football player, but especially for a DT.

Am I reading his stats correctly in this link? Doe she really have 75 sacks playing mostly DT? I am OK getting investigating a possible signing..

If our FO deems that Atkins still has gas in the tank for a year or two, sign him immediately

Whether or not he still is remains to be seen. If he can pass a physical, great. A shoulder injury in the trenches is worrisome in anyone, let alone someone going into season 12, though.

But that might make a one year deal make sense.

When compared to other players all time Geno Atkins is one of the best defensive linemen. I didn’t think that would need further explanation.

I was an English major at one point and also spent entirely too much time conjugating verbs in foreign languages. Unfortunately in English we don't have separate words to differentiate temporary "is" and pervasive "is" *Shrug*

We agree that he was one of the best ever.

Even at 32, I think he will demand a high price tag. One I'm not sure we'd take up.

This feels like an interior version JJ Watt, to me.

We'll see.

Grading out that high on a defense that bad really says something.

Sign him. Put him next to Richardson. Call our DLine done.
Takk McKinley would be the weak spot in that lineup and he is way more than good enough to excel with that much DLine next to him. He did well when paired with Vic Beasley with Grady Jarrett inside. This would be as good or better.

Apparently, he was injured the entire season and tried to play through it.

Bengals All-Pro DT Geno Atkins Underwent Season-Ending Shoulder Surgery

James Rapien
Dec 16, 2020

CINCINNATI — The Bengals placed defensive tackle Geno Atkins on injured reserve Wednesday morning.

The 32-year-old suffered a labrum tear in his right shoulder during Cincinnati's final scrimmage during training camp.

He missed four games with the injury, but returned to action in Week 5 against Baltimore.

Atkins underwent surgery to repair the damage in his shoulder this week. He signed a waiver to play this season, despite dealing with an injury that likely required surgery league sources told AllBengals insider Elise Jesse.

He was only on the field for 119 defensive snaps this year, which was a career-low. Atkins appeared in eight games, finishing with one tackle. He was on the field for just seven plays in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys.

The Bengals drafted Atkins in the fourth-round (120th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft. He's appeared in 161 career games (134 starts), and is third in team history with 75.5 sacks.

Atkins in an eight-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All-Pro. He signed a four-year, $65.2 million contract extension with Cincinnati in 2018. He has two years left on his deal.

His overall Defensive grade was 54 in 2020. His rush defense was particularly bad.

The shoulder injury was obviously a factor last year. But, there has been a negative trend in the couple years before the injury.

He could possibly bounce back and be a good pick up for us, but he should probably be vetted pretty thoroughly.

Is he dealing with depression issues or something? That sounds like it may be a mental health issue.

Then again, it's a twitter post, lol.

Living here in the Nashville area his antics were pretty well reported. While this article doesn't cover it all, it gives you at least a glimpse of what has been going on with him. And yes, while I'm not a doctor his actions seem as though they would or could very well be tied in with some type of mental struggles.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

kind of an unsurprising move, but still he was a good player for them
