Said it before, I'll say it again, guns aren't the problem.. It's those that we allow to have them that cause the deaths

https://www.npr.org/2021/04/16/987929888...in-indianapolis

A man opened fire inside a FedEx warehouse facility in Indianapolis late Thursday night, killing eight people and injuring five others. The suspect is believed to have shot himself and is among the nine dead, according to police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said in a statement that eight people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Additionally, "preliminary information from evidence at the scene is that the alleged shooter has taken his own life," police said.

Five others with injuries "consistent with gunshot wounds" were transported to local hospitals for treatment and two victims were treated at the scene, the statement said.

The FedEx Ground Plainfield Center warehouse at 8951 Mirabel Road is about five miles from Indianapolis International Airport.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Public Information Officer Genae Cook told reporters at around 1 a.m. Friday that officers responded to the warehouse shortly after 11 p.m. following reports of gun shots. As officers arrived, they came upon an active shooter, she said.

She called the situation "very heartbreaking" and said officers "went in and they did their job. And a lot of them are trying to face this because this is a site that no one should ever have to see," Cook said.
Article continues after sponsor message

Interstate-70 near the airport was temporarily closed Thursday night in both directions as police responded to the scene of the shooting.

In a statement to NPR, FedEx said it was "deeply shocked and saddened by the loss of our team members following the tragic shooting at our FedEx Ground facility in Indianapolis."

"Our most heartfelt sympathies are with all those affected by this senseless act of violence. The safety of our team members is our top priority, and we are fully cooperating with investigating authorities," the statement said.

It's unclear how many workers were on duty at the time of the shooting.

Jeremiah Miller, who was about to start the second half of a double shift at the FedEx facility when the shooting took place, told WISH-TV that he and a coworker, Timothy Boillat, heard up to 10 shots.

Miller said he saw a man with what he described as "a submachine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle."

Boillat told the television station that he "didn't exactly see a person get shot but, after hearing the shooting, I did see a body on the floor behind a vehicle."

"Luckily, I was far enough away where he (the shooter) didn't notice me or see me. So, thank God for that," he said.

This is a developing story. Some things reported by the media will later turn out to be wrong. We will focus on reports from officials and other authorities, credible news outlets and reporters who are at the scene. We will update as the situation develops.

Probably an AR style rifle, I heard the term machine gun used on TV, but sure, the AR's have nothing to do with it, except they are common to all the shootings.

There's only one problem with that. In most places it's legal to buy a firearm from a private individual with no background check. Cash and carry. It's hard to regulate who is buying guns as long as that exists. It happens at gun shows all the time. In most places only licensed gun dealers are required to do a background check or report the purchase of a firearm.

This kind of thing shouldn't have to happen.

Am. Society has haves and have nots. And the have nots have no humanity,

Everything is controlled by billionaire corporations who don't give a rats turd about the lives of the people they keep at the bottom.

There are millions and millions of people at the bottom, 6 million on the southern border this 3 months.

A select few percentage, say 23%, get the elite education and the elite super sit down jobs and are clueless CLUELESS!

They Lord out supplies of falsehoods and Lies, putting science above God, and a false worship of education

tearing down families, souls, and people with ever more harsh circumstances, isolated
isolated from the effects by their eliteness.

No hope, no opportunity the 77% live in an ever more harsh reality of adevertised Hate, and demands for the interaction of a criminal element, a criminal element that pervades society because the legal system refuses to take them off the street or properly deter crimes.

Millions turn to drugs.
Many play right, eschew the wrong path, follow the rules, stay away from the drugs to pass the drug tests, slam away their waking hours in a greedy corporate economy that deters the worker,
until both parents must work and more than full time, 77 hours per week, is common
and child care is over priced,

So continually faced with a worse reality day after day, increasing, year after year, slaving away with no improvement, even after 25 years 30 years,

The psychologists, decades ago found the template, the recipe, the head games to control the masses, make it an unquestionable argument that the losers' circumstances are "their own fault"
"they just didn't do enough", it's a fancy trick of ever moving goals,

Each and every step of the way the "new deal" is to increase your burden, like some
like some mule pulling barges up the erie canal;
after all there are a hundred million of these type of folks in these situatuions, the worker
is easily replaced, in fact often replaced
because it makes the corporation more viable, competitive in an "all corporations market of survival of the stongest bottom line of a corporation"

I mean, you don't want fed ex to close down? then were would you be? You'd certainly want to stick around for a 33rd consecutive day without a day off, or maybe just 29+ of 33 days with 14.5 hours from the time you exit or enter the door of your home to the heck hole of work.

Oh it's not a heck hole, a place of fighting and hostility, adult aged people acting like babies, complaining, and whining, in a group huddled closely of 50 or more individuals who are all going to get in your face
all going to get in your face and attack you, on an every day basis

you guys fought last week, you fought this week, you fought 5 minutes ago. You tried to get along, last week, you had to prove your point last week, you tried to avoid each other last week, unsuccessfully,
Forced!
Forced by the elite who put you at odds with those around you with competiting agendas! on a minute by minute basis

We can't all accomplish the common goal, by rote! by definition, the goals are contrary to each other and
DEMANDED, OR ELSE!
and you get the memo of the increased expectations
and they get their memo of the increased expectations,

and it works, oh my gosh it works, the level of achievement is through the flipping roof!

and the elites... get excited, they think it worked! the bottom line is close to perfect,

So you'll have a laser focus, a 20 day, and a new guy, comes in , a new boss, of everybody, he comes in from outside, and says,
We're going to laser focus on a 20 day increase to reach that last milli-inch of the way to perfection

nevermind, never talk, never accept the perfect results this crappy environment has produced at the expense of humanity for anyone around,

and something unforeseen happens, and a little thing, is treated like the end of the world
next moment a huge thing, a literally huge problem, and it's not treated as if there is any problem whatsoever.

And of course, someone would look for answers, but, the elites weren't stupid, the psychologists, remember decades ago had figured this out,
how to control the masses and make them believe it's their fault,

there are 13 or 14 different levels of different divisions of different groups, all saying the same thing,

" If ya have problem go here" "if ya have a problem check this box"

and provide the hilarious if not sad, run around, solution that no problem will ever be addressed.

An 11 o clock at night probably starts a shift that goes all night,
After years of working many shifts, I find the overnight gets a lot of undeserved blame,
the daytime gets a lot of undeserved overseeing and interruption from the big whigs,

but in the overnights, the overnights brought in some of the craziest people, not individually, but just a, in the general
more stuff can go on because there are less overseers around.

So, oh you know
around the years 2002, plus or minus 5, the Republicans, seemed to decide the number of, well gun laws in all the states,
that seemed to suffice for freedom and adherence to the 2nd admendment for the last 40 years prior,
all of a sudden weren't good enough, and had to be expanded

new expansions, to "conceal carry' and then constitutional carry, and eventually who knows where it will end.

I didn't know what I felt about it, at the time, but uhh, kind of figure, then and now

" all this conceal carry stuff seems alright but if it just ends up with more and more people shooting everybody then it wasn't a good idea"

Well I know back then, these shootings weren't as common, but,
you know back then, the 77% still had more hope.

Ya American Society is failing, I'd say.

Hey guess what?
You really think you need to have 500 straight days of 5 news broadcasts telling you about the number of virus cases or vaccine cases?

Because you know, it might just drive some people insane,
I don't know, cause them to lose all hope,

What happened to Amy Winehouse? Kurt Kobane?

Robyn Williams, he was rich, and famous.

You know it hit me yesterday...

The over over, over, over advertising on the """network news""" of the death of Bernie Madoff.

Aww and they just, aww they just hate the guy!
well I don't hate the guy, that much I mean he's just another criminal,

Why does', ask yourself, why does the media hate Bernie Madoff so much?

OH! it's because he stole from them.
the Media, is only the super super rich corporations!

the media is not even the 23% elite, and it's not the regular people

The media hates Bernie Madoff, because Bernie Madoff stole from some really rich people, and the media, well that's who they are.

And that's who they represent, (I think), I don't think the media wants to admit the regular people even exist.

Motive? There are 250 million people in the US with no ability to survive, future or past, generationally,
and Universities are the most opulent places in society except for country clubs

Those that are sitting behind a desk, I think are clueless.

(but maybe they should have picked up the plastic and recycle, or worry about a germ,)

This is horrible, along with everything that has transpired over the last month.

Look, I am all for strengthening gun laws. I think those who want guns completely abolished are hilarious.

But if/when we pass these gun laws, then what? This stuff is still going to happen. I kinda feel like liberals don't really care about that aspect of it, they just want their W over conservatives on the issue. My guess is, they'll just go back to ignoring it, like they do with any story that doesn't fit their agenda.

This may sound like I'm a conservative, but I am not. I probably lead more towards liberal thoughts and ideas, but I cannot stand the way liberals these days go about their business.

Conservaties blame mental health, liberals blame guns. It's probably both. But when this keeps happening, then what? Do you just scroll past it like you do everything else that makes your side look bad?

So as state after state are repealing their requirements of CCW permits, allowing anyone that can legally purchase a gun to strap it on and carry it the moment they walk out of a gun store with it.... no training required, you think it's the libs that want their W?

You may wish to look at what's actually happening around the nation to see who it really is trying to snub their nose at common sense when it comes to guns.

Yeah, you missed the point, they both are. However, my post was geared towards this idea that if you strengthen gun laws, that this is going to stop.

And, it's not. This is going to continue. And again, my post stated, then what?

You may wish to read my post again to get the point of what I was saying.

Yet this is part of what you said.

I think liberals do care about that aspect of it but they aren't well informed enough to realize the rest of what you stated.

There are over 300,000,000 guns currently in circulation in our country. Enough for one gun for every person living in the U.S. including children. Gun laws certainly will not prevent mass shootings.

But please consider this for a moment. While we agree that it certainly won't prevent mass shootings, does that mean we shouldn't try to at least slow them down? I mean let's move forward ten years by doing nothing. Now we'll have 400,000,000 guns on the street. With an additional 100,000,000 guns on the street, where private owners can sell guns between themselves with no background checks, with no identification needed and not having to report it, how many mass shootings may have been prevented by employing common sense gun control laws now?

I liken it to this. DWI laws, or almost any other law if you stop to think about it. They don't stop people from committing crimes. We still have people driving impaired, we still have people committing robberies and murder. But as a society we show that we're at least making an attempt to try and slow the problem down. I see doing nothing as almost condoning it. Otherwise we may as well not have laws and guidelines about anything by using the excuse, "Yeah but that won't stop it".

and that's fine. Maybe it does slow it down, but I have my doubts. If someone wants a gun, they can get a gun.

I do find it funny that, while it's not the same issue, there are extremist liberals out there who think making drugs legal across the board, will somehow slow down the opioid epidemic that controls such a big part of this country.

Because, while heroin is illegal, it's certainly a problem.

I am just thinking ahead, because when I see things like this happening, I want them to stop, and while everyone goes right to their gun law takes, I know that is not going to stop it.

At this point, I don't think anything is going to stop it. We inherited this problem, and there is no realistic solution that is going to stop it.

We don't have the money to have armed security everywhere, and even that is no gaurantee to stop horrible things like the vegas shooting from happening, whereas the logistics of how that went down, extra armed security wouldn't have done anything.

But my thing always goes back to, ok, we have passed gun laws to help make it harder for them to obtain. and someone still goes and shoots up a public place. then what? nobody wants to have that conversation. Why can't we have that conversation now, and why do we have to wait for gun laws to be passed. Kinda makes you think, which is what goes back to your quote of my post about libs just wanting their W.

Once again you bring up the fringe element of one side. That makes twice now with the drug issue. Yet you never seem to acknowledge the fringe element on the other side. Then you tell me I'm missing your point. wink I don't think I am.

You ignored my point about red states rolling back CCW permits. You have ignored my point in an earlier post about having the loophole where any private owner can sell to another person with no background check or requirement to report that gun sell. None of that in any way promotes responsible gun control. I liken it to putting a band aid on a bullet wound and then saying, "Hey, I tried to stop the bleeding".

From every appearance it seems you wish to focus "on the libs" and not actually discuss the topic at hand.

I don't fault you for the sentiment of at least making the effort to try. I don't necessarily disagree with it either.

The problem comes when a) the proposals don't actually address the issue and b) make whole swathes of otherwise law abiding citizens Felons over night.

It also doesn't help when the majority of the people who propose new restrictions have zero to no knowledge about firearms to begin with.

As a practical matter, do you honestly think banning bump stocks has had any measurable impact?

If you want to start to reduce gun violence its simple: Aggressively prosecute people who use guns in the commission of a crime AND enhance penalties for the same. I can tell you firsthand that unless you can get the case to go Federal, neither of these is happening in a lot of jurisdictions.

Admittedly that probably won't have much of an impact on preventing mass shootings like this one, but it addresses the overall issue. We have to stop trying to take these comparatively isolated incidents which often have unique contributing circumstances and trying to paint it as emblematic of the issue at large.

And you can't seem to answer my question about why we can't have a conversation about what we will do when gun laws don't slow this down, which is the topic at hand?

See how that works?

And yes, I understand your point about CCW permits, and other crap gun laws, especially with how gun shows work. Totally get all of that, but that's part of the proboem (which I admit), I am talking about the solution. Which again, you seem to ignore.

I don't actually disagree with you in principal. Actually I totally agree with you as far as stiffening penalties on crimes committed while using a firearm. I did say in an earlier post that many with good intentions don't really understand guns, the far reaching consequences, or lack there of, what they propose.

As for "creating criminals out of law abiding citizens". I think every gun that is sold in America should require a background check. Having a loophole where anyone can sell a gun to another citizen with no background check and not having to report it totally destroys the entire idea of background checks in the first place. Now would that make something that was legal before, illegal? Yes it would. I'm not sure that's what you're referencing but to do nothing about that situation doesn't make sense to me.

Repealing CCW permits. This has to be one of the dumbest things I've seem come down in some time. Why would anyone advocate a person be able to buy a gun and carry it concealed in public with zero training in handling and firing a firearm?

See, I'm not a guy who proposes some huge crack down on guns. I'm just a gun owner who wants to see some reasonable and responsible gun legislation passed.

Sadly with the extremes from both sides we see today hoping for some common sense seems futile.

You're predicating we should have an entire discussion about some prognostication of what you think may or may not happen in the future? Why would anyone do that? I'm always willing to discuss things that happen. Where I usually draw the line is when someone wishes to use a crystal ball to predict what will happen in the future and discuss their prediction.

Um, because I want this to stop, and don't believe gun laws will really do anything?

Once again I'll say, you wish to hold a conversation about what may or may not happen in the future based on what you feel or believe the results will be.

I don't think common sense gun laws will stop anything. But as time goes on I believe they will help to slow down the rise we are seeing. With over 300,000,000 million guns in circulation it won't "be stopped".

i'll take the action over the inaction.

and that's fine, and you're not wrong, but when this STILL happens, we will see who really cares, and who scrolls past these awful stories cause they got their W already.

sorry bro but that sounds like the same nonsense conservatives claimed about liberals during the pandemic/election.

"when they win, watch how covid suddenly disappears from the media and liberals."

it didn't happen.

I kinda feel like liberals don't really care about that aspect of it, they just want their W over conservatives on the issue. This may sound like I'm a conservative, but I am not. I probably lead more towards liberal thoughts and ideas, but I cannot stand the way liberals these days go about their business.

Ok, but these shootings will continue, so I don't see how this relates.

Although that is a stupid argument on anyone who didn't take the pandemic seriously. I didn't really hear much of that, most conservatives I know took the pandemic as serious as anyone else, so I think that's a bit of a false narrative out there, but I know there were folks who did buy into that. I hope they eventually came around.

So you're trying to say if mass shootings aren't "stopped" by gun control laws that those laws failed? Seriously? Just asking because that may not be what you're trying to say. And there you go with "the libs got their W" BS again. You seem very focused on that part of it? While at the same time saying I'm missing your point.

If you expect people to believe you're point isn't about the libs, maybe you should stop bringing that up every time you post? After all this isn't the political forum.

So then what would you consider success? A decrease of 10% in mass shootings? 20%? I mean how many America deaths avoided would it take for you to consider it a success?

My bad. It is now in the political forum. Which as everyone knows how these things evolve it should have been in the first place.

I'm saying what are we going to do, and who is going to care when these things continue to happen?

And ps, this post got moved to politics, so yeah, now it is.

And you're missing the point, I know most conservatives don't really care that much about these issues. That's well documented if you'e ever opened up any social media app.

Maybe I don't attack them as much because pretty much any time I open my social media, there is plenty blame being thrown their direction.

But my thing is, what is the plan when this still happens? Like I have said countless times in this thread, I'M ALL FOR STRONGER GUN LAWS. But then what? Nobody wants to talk about that. Why not have this conversation now? Where's the plan?

I want these things to stop. I don't want them "slowed down". I want them to stop.

I don't think common sense gun laws will stop anything. But as time goes on I believe they will help to slow down the rise we are seeing. With over 300,000,000 million guns in circulation it won't "be stopped".

I'll just drop this then head out seeing as it got bumped to the political forum. I don't do the political forum anymore.

One way to look at the 300 million + guns there are in circulation is to say "Wow! That's a lot! And look at how many times they are used!"

The other way to look at 300 million + guns is "Wow! That's a lot! And look at how few of them are used".

There are people that are at the highest levels of gov't who have publicly stated they would confiscate as many guns as they could if given the authority to do it. The "slippery slope to confiscation" argument is not tin foil Alex Jones stuff.

Which brings up a broader point: consistently we see "common sense" proposals not be able to stand up to even the most basic scrutiny. Take expanded mental health background checks... What does that mean exactly? At what point does a person with a diagnosis lose their Right? At what point can they get it back? If ever? How do you handle abuses for example a therapist reported a former patient under a red flag law because he was leaving him bad Yelp reviews.

These questions aren't difficult and they aren't being purposefully obtuse. If those questions can't be answered by the people proposing the laws, then anyone would be a fool to cede that much authority and power.

Anywho, I return to my self imposed Palus Polticus exile. I am available on occasion via PM if anyone cares to know my thoughts about any particular issues.

My point is that as far as I know there are no measures that can be taken to "stop them". That has been proven by the death penalty. Even when a crime holds the sentence of death they are still committed.

And in all honesty I don't see any one measure "stopping them". I've never seen our society find a one time answer to simply stop anything. Be it murder, drugs, or any other crime. So i think the objective you are seeking is unattainable. I am fully aware of one thing. In order to stop anything your first step to getting there is by slowing it down to begin with.

AA or NA isn't a one step process. And since stopping it seems to be the goal and you wish to discuss it, I'm interested in hearing what your proposals are to accomplish it?

Red flag laws are something I find very concerning. We certainly agree about that. And yes, there are the fringe who believe that even confiscating guns should happen. But they are the few and the fringe. Yes, almost the Alex Jones like portion of the left.

I don't think any of the measure I have proposed in my posts are unreasonable or infringe on legal, responsible gun owners.

Well, we're in the same boat on that issue at least.

No, I don't have any proposals, I work in finance, lol.

I don't think there is anything we can do. While I want gun laws to be as strict as they can be. I believe in the right to own a gun, to hunt, to protect yourself, but I believe there should be a process which limits it to those who are capable of owning and handling them.

But that ain't gonna do anything. This is going to continue to happen, and I think there has likely been a horrible spike in depression cases over the last 12 months (obviously) that things are just going to get worse, especially now that the world is opening back up, and before we know it, there will be full theatres, ball parks, and other public places.

Just awful to see things like this happen. Prayers for everyone involved. I actually just saw that a package I have in transit arrived at Indianapolis before this all went down.

I don't think we're really that far apart on the issue. The only real difference I see is that while I think it's still going to happen I think the measures I have promoted may help to slow it down going into the future. You seem to think it will yield zero results. We both seem to agree on the measures we feel should be taken regardless of the results.

I personally don't think it will do much, will it do absolutely nothing? I can't say that. But I don't think it would be enough to where this doesn't become an issue.

We can't remove every gun from the country. I think abolishing the second amendment is not going to happen, even though I see people calling for that all the time. Even then, if someone wants to do something horrible, they could find other ways.

I just don't understand why there isn't more conversation about the why. The Vegas shooting was one of the most horrific things I have ever seen. I have done a bit of research on my own about it, and I cannot find any motive other than a rumor that Steven Paddock had some bone to pick with MGM, which seems absolutely ridiculous. Whether or not mental health had anything to do with tha tparticular incident remains unknown. Like it was only the worst shooting even to happen on this soil, aside from any past wars, and we know very little about it. I know they don't to give him any credit for what he did, but I do feel like the public has a right to know what was going on. There are some incredible videos on this if you can stomach some of the footage. This guy's plan was the most well organized of any mass shooting. This wasn't just something he conjured up overnight.

FBI says it interviewed FedEx mass shooter last year
A shooting has been reported late Thursday at a Fedex facility in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The FBI says that last year it questioned the man who fatally shot eight people at a FedEx plant in Indianapolis. Paul Keenan, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Indianapolis field office, said Friday that agents questioned 19-year-old Brandon Scott Hole after his mother called police to say that her son might commit “suicide by cop.” He says agents questioned Hole based on items found in his bedroom. He did not elaborate on what those items were. No crime was identified and the FBI says it did not identify Hole as espousing a racially motivated ideology.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police scoured a Fedex facility in Indianapolis and searched the gunman's home Friday, looking for a motive for the latest mass shooting to rock the U.S., as family members of the eight victims spent agonizing hours awaiting word on their loved ones.

The shooter was identified as Brandon Scott Hole, 19, of Indiana, Deputy Police Chief Craig McCartt told a news conference. Investigators searched a home in Indianapolis associated with Hole and seized evidence, including desktop computers and other electronic media, McCartt said.

McCartt said Hole was a former employee of the company and last worked for FedEx in 2020. McCartt said he did not know why Hole left the job or if he had ties to the workers in the facility. He said police have not yet uncovered a motive for Thursday’s shooting but added that police seized a gun from him last year. McCartt also said authorities are still identifying the victims and that not all of the victims’ families have been notified.

The shooter started randomly firing at people in the parking lot and then went into the building and continued shooting late Thursday night, McCartt said. He said the shooter apparently killed himself shortly before police entered the building.

“There was no confrontation with anyone that was there,” he said. “There was no disturbance, there was no argument. He just appeared to randomly start shooting."

McCartt said four people were killed outside the building and another four inside. Several people were also wounded, including five who were taken to the hospital. McCartt said the slayings took place in a matter of minutes.

Officials with the coroner's office began the process of identifying victims Friday afternoon, a process they said would take several hours.

Police Chief Randal Taylor noted that a “significant” number of employees at the FedEx facility are members of the Sikh community, and the Sikh Coalition later issued a statement saying it was “deeply saddened to learn” that Sikh community members were among the wounded and killed.

The coalition, which identifies itself as the largest Sikh civil rights organization in the U.S., said in the statement that it expected authorities to “conduct a full investigation — including the possibility of bias as a factor.” The coalition's executive director, Satjeet Kaur, noted that more than 8,000 Sikh Americans live in Indiana.

The agonizing wait by the workers' families was exacerbated by the fact that most employees aren’t allowed to carry cellphones inside the FedEx building, making contact with them difficult.

“When you see notifications on your phone, but you’re not getting a text back from your kid and you’re not getting information and you still don’t know where they are … what are you supposed to do?” Mindy Carson said early Friday, fighting back tears.

Carson later said she had heard from her daughter Jessica, who works in the facility, and that she was OK. She was going to meet her, but didn't say where.

FedEx said in a statement that cellphone access is limited to a small number of workers in the dock and package sorting areas to “support safety protocols and minimize potential distractions.”

FedEx Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frederick Smith called the shooting a “senseless act of violence.”

“This is a devastating day, and words are hard to describe the emotions we all feel,” he wrote in an email to employees.

The killings marked the latest in a string of recent mass shootings across the country and the third mass shooting this year in Indianapolis. Five people, including a pregnant woman, were shot and killed in the city in January, and a man was accused of killing three adults and a child before abducting his daughter during at argument at a home in March. In other states last month, eight people were fatally shot at massage businesses in the Atlanta area, and 10 died in gunfire at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado.

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said the community must guard against resignation and “the assumption that this is simply how it must be and we might as well get used to it.”

President Joe Biden said he had been briefed on the shooting and called gun violence “an epidemic” in the U.S.

“Too many Americans are dying every single day from gun violence. It stains our character and pierces the very soul of our nation,” he said in a statement. Later, he tweeted, “We can, and must, do more to reduce gun violence and save lives.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she was “horrified and heartbroken” by the shooting and called for congressional action on gun control.

“As we pray for the families of all affected, we must work urgently to enact commonsense gun violence prevention laws to save lives & prevent this suffering,” the Democratic leader said in a tweet.

A witness said he was working inside the building when he heard several gunshots in rapid succession.

“I see a man come out with a rifle in his hand and he starts firing and he starts yelling stuff that I could not understand,” Levi Miller told WTHR-TV. “What I ended up doing was ducking down to make sure he did not see me because I thought he would see me and he would shoot me.”

A man told WTTV that his niece was sitting in the driver’s seat of her car when the gunfire erupted, and she was wounded.

“She got shot on her left arm,” said Parminder Singh. “She’s fine, she’s in the hospital now.”

Gov. Eric Holcomb ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until April 20, and he and others decried the shooting.

Chris Bavender, a spokesperson for the FBI’s Indianapolis office, said the bureau is helping with the investigation.

Just another young punk who grew up thinking they were special, only to find out real life doesn't think so.

Rather than more gun controls, maybe we need more child controls?

Swats in school is my first answer. Reasoning doesn't get through to people the way pain does. You start trying to reason with a kid but when that isn't working, reason this....BAM....maybe next time you will think about what we talked about....BAM.

Have we reasoned enough here or do we need to reason some more?

LOl....then you agree!

Only kidding man, you aren't a commie. But on to point, I do think swats serve a valuable purpose. I think too many kids grow up without accountability and consequences, then get to this kids age and they find out that in the real world people aren't going to put up with the crap they have gotten away with for 17 or so years. Then they don't know what to do, then go psycho.

There are so many levels to this issue. Making it political, and choosing a single reason for this problem, is ensuring this will be an ongoing issue for this country.

There does need to be more enforcement regarding weapons and who can get those weapons.

The more serious issue, which is much more difficult, and why people mention it as a reason for making their own political points, but care nothing about resolving, is the mental health crisis.

You guys, it’s an epidemic that has been made even worse by the physical health epidemic. It’s going to get far worse. It’s also been a crisis that has been ignored for decades. The quick fix for solving state economic issues was to cut mental health funding. It’s been a disaster for many years.

The social media extremist views draw these people in, give them comfort, and then give them the idea that what they are doing is noble or a deserved payback. How we fight these multiple issues, given the ridiculous political divide, gives me no hope that we will do anything to resolve this terrible problem in this country,

Yep, everybody wants to send their kids to school in a war zone full of tactical cops armed to the teeth... rolleyes

Maybe you can't see how sick it is to think this way OR care so much more about gun rights than the lives being taken wastefully by those same guns. There is no test, no safety procedure, no class, no arming others to respond answer that even remotely begins to solve this. We need a way to TAKE the guns from idiots, period. And even that won't account for decent people that snap.

I don't think this genie will ever be put back in the bottle.

You take a 10 year old brain, not developed with enough understanding of consequences of actions; that society would allow them on their own to feed and care for themselves.

But the same 10 year old can spend tons of hours for many years playing first person shooter video games with increasingly realistic artificial worlds.

I sure noticed an increase in things like happen in Grand Theft Auto's video game, in the years 2010-2017, happening in real news stories.

( I used to hate age discrimination when I was younger than 18. See it's not that 18's can't make good decisions, or understand,

it's that those same decisions have to be made and observed, for 6 or 7 years, or more, to really see the consequences that happen and learn over time. (putting things in practice and seeing results)

And not that the 18 year old is not developed, but that when they check their 6, or 7 year history their remembering a time when they were only 11 or 12, and the 11 or 12 year old just isn't fully developed yet. (In the physical brain).

So they just don't have the history to pull on, in their memory, to fully grasp the consequences before they make the instant, rash, un thought out decision.
