I think many in both parties lie through their teeth. Where the Trump base of the Republicans in office really irk me is the severe amount of gaslighting that they are now adding to their lies.

I think that blatant lying and the audacity to simply endlessly repeat lies in the face of proof/evidence is different since Trump was nominated. It's like the GOP are emboldened to simply ignore anything they don't like or is inconvenient because Trump was never held accountable for the thousands of blatant lies. They don't give a chit.
Yes - politicians are going to be economical with the truth. They will lie. This is a whole new level of it.
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.
And then there's an attorney attempting to use this legal defense....
An attorney for an accused Capitol rioter said his client participated in the January 6 siege because he had 'Foxitus' and 'Foxmania' from watching Fox News for 6 months
For those who don't believe how strong the big lie is within the Republican party.... For those who don't believe it's those using dark money to steer the course of state legislation..... For those that don't believe that there is a concerted effort to undermine voting rights across our nation......

And yet the words in the video came directly from the woman's mouth. You may not like the source, but the fact of the matter is this is a video of the words coming straight from the source. I know facts tend to bother you.

One problem. 140 cops were injured and there's video. Some people forgot all about that Blue Lives Matter thing and what they claimed to stand for. It seems like that's yet another pandemic that's sweeping this country since Trump came along.

I get that. It's just annoying that people don't see it for what it is.

I actually agree with that comment. We just differ on the reasons.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
So there’s yet another attempt by the GOP to challenge the election result. How brainwashed has conservative America become that Liz Cheney and Paul Ryan become the voice of reason on the right?
Oh well, this crap is funny. Would be more funny if people didn’t lose their lives over the big lie, but that’s the world we live in.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
In his defense, many were doing the same thing for Andy Ngo's pictures of the riots and that seemed to serve as an adequate argument in that case.
I've already stated that the commentary aspect I can understand that people dismiss. Let's clear this up. In Ngo's videos, he showed videos of people and claimed what groups they belonged to with zero evidence to back up those claims. Just like with this video, that was commentary that can be dismissed.
All he had was people involved in criminal activity and everything else was his commentary about them. Yet he had nothing to substantiate those claims. In this video, we know who this woman is and we can hear directly from her own mouth what she is saying.
For anyone who can't see the difference I can't help them.

While I disagree with Romney and did also with McCain on some policy issues, I believe they are/were honorable people who stood up for what they actually felt was right. That's back when at least a modicum of decency, honesty and decorum was expected from our leaders. The GOP now considers them traitors and morons.
As of now it seems many on the right prefer who can yell the loudest, act the angriest and who will say anything to rile up the base even if they're lies. It's very sad to see how the Republican party has degraded themselves.

A Republican congressman who denied there was an insurrection and likened Capitol rioters to tourists was photographed barricading the chamber doors against them
By Thomas Colson
A GOP lawmaker who has said there was no insurrection was seen barricading the House on January 6.
Rep. Andrew Clyde said last week that the riot resembled a "normal tourist visit." But he had been photographed pushing furniture against the chamber's doors.
A photo emerged of a GOP lawmaker who last week downplayed the Capitol siege and compared the rioters to tourists barricading the House doors with furniture on January 6.
Rep. Andrew Clyde said during a House oversight committee hearing on Wednesday that it was a "bald-faced lie" to call the riot an insurrection. He said the riot, in which hundreds of Trump supporters breached the Capitol, resembled a "normal tourist visit."
After Clyde's comments, a photographer shared a photo he had taken of Clyde using furniture to barricade the House against rioters trying to force their way in to disrupt the certification of President Joe Biden's election victory. Several people died in the riot.
"The Rep. Clyde news reminded me of this," the photographer, Tom Williams, said on Twitter.
In the hearing last week, Clyde addressed his attempts to barricade the House and suggested that because rioters did not breach the chamber it was not an insurrection.
"As one of the members who stayed in the Capitol and on the House floor and who with other Republican colleagues helped barricade the door until almost 3 p.m. that day from the mob who tried to enter, I can tell you, the House floor was never breached, and it was not an insurrection," he said.
Clyde described the rioters as an "undisciplined mob" but also said they resembled tourists, Insider's Grace Panetta reported.
"You know, if you didn't know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit," he said.
He also falsely claimed that police officers had not confiscated any firearms from people who breached the Capitol.

The difference between Jesus and religion Religion mocks you for having dirty feet Jesus gets down on his knees and washes them
I saw an article about that yesterday. The same man who was so afraid of the thugs he helped barricade the doors now claims it was like a normal tourist visit.
Sadly a lot of stupid people believe such BS because they will never see that story in their tunnel vision world.

GOP Rep. Denounces ‘Active Effort to Whitewash’ Capitol Riots: We Need Commission to ‘Clear Away Myths and Fictions’
Congressman Peter Meijer (R- MI), one of the few Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump, took to the House floor Wednesday in support of the 1/6 commission.
House GOP leadership has recommended members vote against it, but some Republicans have made it clear they’re supporting the commission — including Meijer, Fred Upton, and John Katko. (Katko is the ranking member on the House Homeland Security Committee that reached a bipartisan agreement on the commission with Chairman Bennie Thompson.)
Meijer said in his House floor speech the idea of such a commission is not and “should not be treated as” a partisan issue.
“A violent mob breached this building to disrupt the lawful presidential transition and threaten the lives of Vice President Pence and members of Congress,” he said. “That this mob attacked the Capitol with the encouragement of prominent elected officials is a chilling reminder of President Reagan’s warning that freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
Meijer did not call out anyone in particular, but he went on to excoriate those who would whitewash or brush aside the attack on the Capitol:
Many who rightly criticized and condemned the attack that day have walked back their words or softened their speech. But even more troubling, there has been an active effort to whitewash and rewrite the shameful events of that day to avoid accountability and turn away from difficult truths. If we avoid confronting what happened here just a few short months ago, we can be sure that intimidation, coercion, and violence will become a defining feature of our politics.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell both said months ago that Trump bears responsibility for the Capitol attack, though they declined to (respectively) vote to impeach or convict him. In the past day, both McCarthy and McConnell have publicly said they oppose the legislation to establish the commission.
Meijer said in his remarks, “There is no replacement for an independent, bipartisan commission with a mandate to produce a definitive report to the public, to clear away myths and fictions and get right on the facts.”

Sadly, I think it's all part of the plan. Direct attention and focus to something else so they can avoid having to deal with the real problems that plague our country that they have no idea what to do about.
On the bright side, at least both sides seemed to be working together towards something.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

So, if it were Left leaning rioters climbing the walls on Jan 6, You'd be ok with an investigation?

It may turn into that, and that's not right. I still think both can be done. I think we need to have a commission established because that was a pretty freaking serious event if you ask me. I'm also disappointed in the Republican about-face as well.
On the other hand, I think we very much need to hold the current administration and Congress accountable for the areas where they are or will be screwing up...and there are/will be areas for sure, where they'll want to deflect.
We also need to keep up pressure on necessary issues. Infrastructure being one of them.

I'm going to take a step back and give my view of what's going on right now on this. Please correct me if/where I'm wrong.
We had the opportunity to hold Trump accountable for his role in the limited time between the attempted coup and when he left office, and we didn't. So with that in mind, the Trump portion of addressing Jan 6 is done with. The 'holding Trump accountable for Jan6' ship has sailed.
I highly doubt this commission is only an educational endeavor. While important points regarding Capitol Security, our process of executing results of election, etc will be discussed and hopefully improved, I'd imagine there's going to be an accountability aspect of this commission. With Trump out of office, that leaves his minions as potential targets (deservedly) of this commission. It seems fairly clear that Trump and his boots-on-the-ground insurrectionists weren't the only ones involved in how Jan6 turned out, but we really don't have the facts on those people.
So following that train of thought, I can see how the remaining Trump minions don't want this commission to go through.
"I'll take your word at face value. I have never met you but I assume you have a face..lol"
Well Trump specifically couldn't be held accountable before he left office because Moscow Mitch prevented that from happening.
Now he is out of office, the events that took place still need to be investigated to the fullest extent. It's the only time in US history when a peaceful transition didn't take place. How - why - who are all important. I am sure any investigation will get politized because that's what happens - look at how the Biden/Kamala story from the primaries is being weaponized right now because there isn't anything much else to attack Biden with at this moment ...
Why / how were the people involved touring the building days before? Did they receive any special information or treatment? What communication did they have with any law enforcement or political personnel before the event?
What is the true and accurate account of why there was such poor preparations? Why was help not requested sooner? Why was there a delay in approving assistance once the occupation took place?
Bottom line: There was a failure to protect the building and occupants - that needs investigating. There is strong evidence suggesting corroboration between insurgents and law enforcement and possibly politician's aids - that needs investigating.
