clay I think it maybe time to re-consider your feelings about cats.... you being a hunting man and all Dog Steps On Gun, Shoots Man TAMA, Iowa -- A Tama man was injured when hunting dogs stepped on his gun. Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources said James Harris, 37, was pheasant hunting with a group about three miles north of Grinnell when the accident happened. Officials said the group had shot a bird and when Harris went to retrieve it, he put his gun on the ground and crossed a fence. As he crossed the fence, hunting dogs stepped on his gun causing it to fire. Harris was shot in the lower left leg. He was treated at Grinnell Medical Center and later transferred by helicopter to University Hospitals in Iowa City. His condition has not been released. The investigation is continuing. link

Investigation?? Are they trying to determine if this was premeditated, but the dog isn't talking?
Isn't this the second time in a year too? Seems like there was a similar story about how a dog shot an owner in his house ... and the police were investigating that as well.

Yeah this guy only has himself to blame. How about the safety should be on whenever not ready to shoot ?

not to mention laying the gun down, then walking in front of the barrel.

They should have this guy teach a gun safety course. He can teach everything NOT to do.

[announcer] In our follow-up story to the man who was shot by his hunting dog, we have this news: through the aid of certified Pet Communicator Peggy Growler, officials have been able to get a confession from the pup, who until now has remained "muzzled." Here is a translation of a portion of the dog's confession:
"Yeah... so what if I did? This could've all been avoided if the jerk hadn't named me "Princess," for God's sake. Look at me! Do I look like a "Princess?" I'm swingin' more artillery than Cedrick the bulldog down the block, fer cryin out loud! Mastiffs should be callin me me Big Papi...
''but noooooooooooooooo. I'm "Princess." WTF was he thinking?
And all those taunts and snickers from the other dudes in the pack... I hear 'em. Year after year of that crap, something had to give. If ya ask me, the punk had it comin. So yeah- there he was, ignoring ALL the rules of hunting safety, with his back turned to me, all assup with his pants snagged on some barbed wire.... and something just snapped...
...I don't really remember anything after that, but I have noticed that the pack seems a little more respectful these days. They all bring rawhide chews on visiting day. I like that. Say- is that a SlimJim in your pocket? "
[announcer] We'll keep you up on all the latest as this story breaks. Now back to you, Shayna...
