Ok, we all shave unless you are like Pit and go for that hobo, unkept look. A few products I would like to recommend. I use Harry's razors and blades. IMO the best blades on the market. They aren't all that expensive and give the best shave possible. For a few years I could only buy them online, but now can find them in the big chain drugstores and Walmart. I promise you can't go wrong if you pick up a starter pack. For shave cream, I use Cremo. It is a real shave cream. I comes out like a heavy moisturizer, then works in to a lather as you work it in with wet fingers. The razor absolutely glides over your face. Even with a few days growth, you don't get razor burn and get a clean shave. It has a nice citrus scent. It takes some getting used to if you have never used a real cream before. It's a little like your dads (at least mine) old cup and shaving soap with a brush. The more you work it in with some water, the more it lathers up. It's more like using a shave gel over a can of foamy. You only need a dab about the size of a quarter to get a quality shave. Just spread the cream over your face, then slowly work in water to get the foam you desire. Anyway, if you guys are tired of getting a crap shave with the old Bic razor, ending with nicks and razor burn, give these a try. I think you will be pleased. I am sure these would work just as well for the ladies. Just use your own. I can always tell when my wife "borrows' mine. My face will break out. That is pretty common. Ive been using the Dollar Shave club 2 blade razors for many years and love them. Shave head and face every two days. I use the the sensitive Edge gel. These two products have worked well for me for years, and hopefully for many years to come.

Back when I shaved, I used the Gilette Fusion 5 razor cartridges. They are the only razor I have used that didn't give me razor burn on my neck. I don't need to worry about that anymore, though, as I am following Pit's example, and going for the hobo, unkempt look as well.

The Harrys have 5 blades but I have heard good things about Dollar Shave. If anything, try the Cremo. It will set you back about $5 for a tube that will last a few months. Seriously, you get a glide like you have never had. The moisturizers make the face feel great. I am sure it works just as well on the noggin.
I probably could or should just shave the head. I cut it tight with my Whal clippers with no guard. I am ready to cut it every weekend when it gets about 1/16" long. I feel unkept if it is much longer.

I've been a Harry's guy for as long as I've known they exist.. years now..
I also have used the Clubman shave Cream...But I decided to go to Harry's instead.. Like it better.
I use Roffler hair cream and i get my hair cut at a Roffler shop.. The old fashion Razor Cut...
I still have a pretty full head of hair.. But I have noticed a few thinning spots... Trying to decide what to do about those.
FYI, I did go to The Sherwin williams Paint store to get Thinner,,, It didn't work..Can't recommend

LOl...maybe the thinner is what made it thin?
As for the balding spots, that is your choice. For me, I combed it back for many years before thinning, so it more or less kept it covered, but at one point I got tired of growing it longer and never wanted a grow over look, I just happened to comb straight back and that did cover it.
I got tired of $40 haircuts that didn't look all that good that required a lot of fuss, so one day I went to the old barber pole and told the barber to give me give me a high and tight....like the old Army days. He said he wasn't good with that cut, so I told him how about just the tight. LOl he talked me in to a #2 guard, and off it went.
The barber asked me if I was sure I wanted that...I told him not to try to talk me out of it...it might work....just start cutting. He did and it has been that way for maybe 10-15 years now. Best thing ever.
As for the balding, I finally decided to just go with it..I mean, it's not like I am the only guy with a balding head. I get women who are balding trying everything to cover it, but guys? Just go with it. To me it is empowering to give a quick swipe with the towel to dry off. Not combing hair, using hair spray or Brylcreem to keep it in place. Ok, brylcreem ages me back to flattops in the 50's and 60's. I did use some vitalis now and then...lol.
Just go with it. If you are sexy, you don't need hair. If you aren't, hair isn't going to help. LOL

I don't remember you with a beard. It's been that long...go figure.
I have a goatee style, so I still have to shave the cheeks and most of the under chin. I use a beard trimmer for that.

Ill have to try the Cremo. Been shaving my head for over twenty years now. Started when I was 26 or 27, just like a clean feel. Shave every two days, if longer I feel miserable, hot, almost feel sick, lol

I still use the Gillette Foam and Fusion razor. I read somewhere that the gel shortens blade life and the most important thing to do is to completely rinse the blades after shaving. The gel is so much more difficult to rinse clean.
I tried a double edge a while ago when I was complaining about the price of the Gillette cartridges. It takes a lot more time, and there is a greater risk of cuts.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!…. That did not age well.

I usually shave, then ignore it for a few months until the beard gets to the point where it bugs me, then I knock it down with clippers and shave again. I can easily get a full year, and then some, out of a single Gillette razor.

The weird part about growing older is you start seeing stray hairs where nothing had ever been before. About 3-4 years ago I started having to shave these 3 whiskers on my nose, a hair growing on my ear lobe, and an eyebrow hair growing about 3/8" above my actual eyebrow. I shave with a Norelco electric and now I just hit those spots along with my regular shave. My head, on the other hand, where nothing much grows, get trimmed by me with a #1 shoe on the clippers, about every 2 weeks. I would skip the #1 shoe, but the bare clippers bite and cut me. I also use the #1 shoe on my eyebrows which grow like weeds now that I'm old. About a year ago, the shoe popped off and I buzzed my eyebrow. There was no choice but to buzz off the other eyebrow too. I looked ridiculous, but since it was a pandemic/lockdown it turned out not to matter. Nobody ever saw it but me.

I use shampoo from the neck up and body wash from the neck down. Wahl beard trimmer for the beard and Norelco electric shaver for neck and cheeks. Hobos don't do that.

Fusion 5 and Nivia creme. I shave in the shower, including my head. I also use the Nivea after shave balm. Those Fusion 5 blades get right down to smooth skin with minimal pressure. I've been using them for quite a while now and I really don't know if it's possible to be any better, unless they drop the price.

I've been using Harry's razor a couple years now, much cheaper than the Fusions I was using, and seem to last a little longer.
I also like the Harry's shaving cream, although I ran out a bit ago, and decided to use up an old Barbasol can I had from a trip.

I guess I'm a simple person. I couldn't tell you which razor's I use - cheap ones. And yes, if I wanted a beard it would take all of 1 week to have a full one.
Shaving cream? I use some but don't know what brand. I also dry shave about 1/3 of the time. Never had any issues.
I used to cut my hair with an electric trimmer - no attachment. (long story there I won't go into). Every 2-4 days, buzz it down to nothing, for 14 years. Bald. I had hair, I just buzzed it.
After a certain vacation, I decided I wanted to have long hair. So, I let it grow. My daughter, then 14, had never seen me with hair on my head. My son, then 26 said "Dad, You DO have hair! I was afraid I was going to lose my hair young, like I thought you did."
Many friends also commented, along the lines of "you were a poser. I thought you were bald." (from friends that ARE bald, or close to it)
However, I was not allowed to let my hair get long, as my wife didn't want that. So now I get it cut monthly by a retired lady. $10. I'd much prefer to be bald again, honestly.
I'm just a low maintenance person I guess. I don't need all the latest and greatest and newest and bestest stuff.
Just this past weekend I was in W.V. 4 wheeling. Place we were staying (bro in laws 'deer camp') well, the shower didn't work. No problem, the river (Elk River) is just a hop and a skip away. Plus, it rained most of the time. So, river baths and a rain wash. Worked for me. It was cold, though.

Pre pandemic I paid $40 for haircuts by a girl I’ve been using for almost 14 years. I started with her as one of her first clients right up until she opened her own barbershop. Since COVID I’ve taken to using the clippers at home. Not sure which number but I cut it fairly short. As much as I enjoyed having my hair cut and helping a local small business owner I don’t know that I’ll ever go back. Saves me $40 every 5 weeks.
As to my face. I have just enough Native American in me that at 49 years old I still couldn’t grow a full beard if I tried. I can do a goatee, but facial hair and N95 masks at work don’t go together. You just can’t get a good seal. So I shave with an electric Norelco. I only have to shave every other day. Frankly it’s nice to not have to deal with facial hair like some of my buddies that seem to grow full beards over night. I have a baby face because of it. No 5 o’clock shadow… unless it’s 5 o’clock the second day.

I pay $40 for my haircuts. It's more than I'd like, but I like how it looks after. I did the "#4 all over" for $10 for a while (and started to do it myself), but I didn't like how it looked. I can afford $40 every month, I guess. Having a hair appointment is nice because it's a bit of peace and quiet out of the house and my wife won't give me grief (even when I extend it by running errands, going to the hardware store, etc).
I use an electric shaver every day, but I've been thinking about going back to a razor. Electric shaver is nice, but it just doesn't give as good of a shave. With a razor, I can shave every other day and it looks fine, and that lines up better with the work-from-home/office hybrid I've got going on right now.

My barber charges $13 for a haircut, and throws in a trim of the beard for free. I usually give him $20 and say thanks.

Awe.... Let's look at a comment made in the original post in this thread by Peen, shall we? Ok, we all shave unless you are like Pit and go for that hobo, unkept look. Now Peen and I go around and around in the political forum much as you and I have done in the past. But what he said to me is a far more personal comment then the one I made concerning you. The difference? I guess you haven't spent much time in the construction field or in a shop. Men poke at each other that way. Unlike yourself, I didn't look to play the victim. I'm not that sensitive. I don't feel the need to call someone "classless" which once again was far more of a personal tone then I took with you. So you go ahead and play victim. Take every comment made on a message board as some type of personal affront. I on the other hand will take things with a grain of salt and not get my panties in a bunch about nothing. You do you.

If you can't figure that out on your own, I can't help you. But I'll try to keep it simple....
It shows the difference in how you and I react to someone taking a swipe at you. Guys do that to each other all the time. I don't take it hard and roll with it. It isn't a big deal. You on the other hand take it personal and try to make far more out of it than it is.
I'm done.

I'm done. I just had to explain something similar to my 3-year-old, so I'll give this a shot here. Just because you're 'cool' with 'peen doesn't mean you're cool with arch. Poking fun at someone with which you have a cold relationship isn't 'poking fun' anymore.

And the fact you need to go down the same road explaining something to a 3-year old as you do with some posters on here says a lot, unfortunately.
