It's still BS.
OTA = Organized TEAM activities. Not...hey...forget about the team and the coaches...let's get together (and together boycott the OTAs) and meet somewhere "cooler" than Berea...and do our own thing.
If a guy chooses to not go...for whatever reason...then so be it. If a group gets together to collectively boycott a TEAM activity...and then gets together to workout on their own...at or near the same time as OTAs...that is BS.
This is just a lost chance at getting better...for no good reason. I just don't see it as a boycott. The guys are working out together. I don't see this as an issue to beef about. Do you think we should cut them? Yep...cut them all...and move the team to Canada. LOL...ok...my question was a bit tongue in cheek. It wasn't meant to be unfair. And yes, your reply let's me know that you know that. Sure, it would be great if everybody was there. I just don't see it as a problem. I am not sure a guy like Harris, who you mentioned, would be getting all that many valuable reps. They are more or less jogging through things.

vacation time??? they are working out on their own. Possibly they are giving the opportunity for complete attention to the defense as there are many new players on D.
But the O guys are working out together. Maybe they can do more than if in camp with coaches there. As long as their application to our O is correct.
jmho its all good. Yes, vacation time. I am not sure what the constraints are for OTS, but they aren't in the building all day long. They might have a 3 hours cap. What are you going to do the rest of the day? I am sure the guys working out on their own are getting after it for several hours in the morning just like they would in Berea. All business. After that, free time. I have some idea of what you did for a living. I am sure your company had sales conventions and similar outing. You met for a few hours in the mornings, then you hit the streets of New Orleans or wherever it was being held then had the rest of the day to do what you want. I went to many meeting like that. I know many people are in "static" jobs, meaning you have your schedule and are expected to be there your 9-10 hours a day without fail. Not all jobs are like that. I put in many 12-14 hour days, then on some Fridays, I'd leave at 11Am to go play in the afternoon lowball at the golf club. Most of these guys know what it takes, and the ones who don't won't make the team. Bottom line is for most of these guys, OTA's are window dressing that won't make much of a impact on how they perform their job. All anybody should care about is what happens come the opening kick. There are plenty of mandatory gatherings that get them ready for that.

Outside of the Myles pick which could have been made by a blind person.
JOK is the first player that the Browns drafted that was the guy I really wanted.
I am so glad we got this guy. He is the type of player that you want.

I'm fascinated to see how he will be used. One beat writer interview I heard (forget who) said something to the effect that they were shocked to see how light in weight/frame he looked compared to others on the field. That doesn't equate to talent or production per se, but it could impact role.

well, in height/weight, he's a strong safety, not a linebacker... so, that's probably why, lol

What are you going to do the rest of the day? catch COVID.. Not me, and probably not them. I have my shots and they probably have theirs. If not, why in the heck are they gathering anywhere? A bunch of sweaty guys tossing around a football. Is that smart if you are worried about them contracting Covid? Or is that OK and you just don't like them having some free time to go play golf, or hang at the beach, or whatever?

That little bit on Fenton was interesting. Gets the juices flowing - but then you have to remember who he was training with...

I like when that happens. For me the first time was Greg Pruitt was a big fan of his from college and was so excited when we picked him.

People can height, weight, speed analize to death. Players can dominate at the Combine.
I love football players. Baker is not a height, weight, physical specimen like Josh Allen.
But he is a player who plays to win. He will fight you till the last breath of air.
Jeremiah when you turn on the tape. He smells football. He plays inside the game.
Watch how he plays angles. How he eludes blockers. How he explodes to the ball carrier. How he reads plays in action.
As camp begins wait till the reports start coming in. What other players say about him. It has already started with Anthony Walker.
Players know ballers. Between now and the start of the season there will be lots of chatter about Jeremiah.
I am excited to see him in Browns uniform.

That's odd...does he hope to have the next agency get him a higher, slotted payment??

Maybe he just wants an agent that will get him signed so that he can report?

I wonder how often it happens that an athlete signs with an agent, then figures out they just don't like the agent.

J/C
I looked up some others....N Harris with the Steelers, pick #24 has signed and Bateman with the Ravens at #27 has signed.
I am not sure why Etienne at #25 and Newsome haven't signed.
If I had to guess, Einnne's agent might be looking at something in the Harris contract that makes them think they should get a bit more, thus our guy is waiting.
It shouldn't work that way, but there is some leeway in those salaries.
Why Newsome is changing now? Who knows....as stated, maybe he just didn't like the person. Maybe the agent wanted him to sign and Newsome wants to wait for Etinne to sign. I don't think it is a case where the agents says don't sign and Newsome is frustrated with that. The player can always sign no matter what the agent says. Maybe Newsome has found out the agency doesn't offer the full range of player services that he is starting to hear what other guys are getting, or charging more for those services. A good agent or agency does more than simply negotiate a contract every few years. You need more than the bank down the street and H&R Block when you start talking millions of dollars. At minimum you need a CPA and a lawyer, likely a financial advisor as well. Sometimes one person can fill 2 of those roles.
Could be any number of things.

I didn't think about that. That could be true. Wonder how it's so difficult for some agents to negotiate these contracts given the new CBA.

Like I said, a player can sign anytime he wants. A player doesn't have to hold out just because his agent says so. I am not saying it isn't/wasn't his agent. It could be, or it could be the player.
I think there is something in other contracts that threw a bit of a monkey wrench in to the clean slotting system and now Newsome or whoever is just before him want to make sure they get slotted properly, or get some "perk" other players have been getting.
The last thing a player or agent wants is to sign for less than the player after them in the draft order unless there is some sort of QB bump that everybody knows about.

The next round of OTA's is going on this week. Baker, Landry, Njoku, and OBJ are all working out together in Austin, TX. Donovan Peoples-Jones is there, too, reportedly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTteskhzZGY

Maybe after all these years of 12 months of contact, and no time off for recovery, and seeing that OTA's,
in a covid year with everything by teleconference, with loads less injuries, and competition in the real games as big as ever,
that maybe, it's time to limit off season in person activities to a certain number of weeks and make it standard, And! confine it to a certain time frame.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
