One of the greatest HS football stories I've ever heard is out of Steubenville.
In case anyone hasn't been to a game at Steubenville, they have, on top of their scoreboard, a horse up on its back two legs. The eyes light up and fire comes out of its mouth. It's really pretty cool.
Well, I guess at one point, Steubenville was playing the Massillon Washington Tigers. Anyone who follows HS football knows those two schools have a tremendous following. So, there were a ton of Massillon fans at Steubenville for the game.
Right before the game starts, a tiger (whether it was paper or just stuffed animal, I'm not sure) was on a zip line and was coming into the stadium over the scoreboard. The Massillon fans thought it was great, a really great way for Steubenville to welcome the Tigers to the stadium for a good game. I guess a lot of the Massillon fans even started cheering.
Well, just as the tiger got over the scoreboard, the scoreboard person had the horse spit out fire, which ignited the tiger into flames! I guess the Steubenville people went crazy in delight and the Massillon people stood there in shock.
That would have been something to see!

Cardnial Mooney is going to win. For all you Y-Town people, notice my kids uniform colors. Our team held a practice at Mooney and those kids treated our boys really good. It was nice to see them taking time out after their practice to talk with the kids, even if my kid ignored them. He hates Mooney.

Being from Boardman, Mooney was always a rival of ours. But, I had a few good friends from grade school go there.
The head coach from Mooney went to grade school with my oldest sister, so I like to see him succeed. But, Steubenville has great tradition.
I just hope it's a good game. I'm sure it will be. This will probably be the best game in Div. IV for the whole tourney, better than the championship, I'm betting.

I'm willing to bet either team can compete wit the Div. I schools. Mooney has four players going to big college programs. Two to Penn State One too Iowa One to Notre Dame Ok, I guess that's three big programs and Notre Dame.

I would hope so, since Mooney only recruits D-1 kids.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. With open enrollment in the state of Ohio, all districts have the same access to the student-athletes.Some,such as Mooney, just have more to offer.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Yes, you have the same access to kids that are IN your district. In metropolitan Youngstown-Warren, Mooney has access to every kid in a 50 mile radius, blanketing 20 or so "districts." It's pick of the litter for them, and an unfair disadvantage to smaller schools.
It's not sour grapes; if they have nothing but D-1 kids, they should have to play D-1 ball. At a minimum, they should have to move up a division if they win the state title.
Mooney is a great school and has a great program. It's just getting old seeing them get away with cleaning house pretending to be a D-IV school.

Just clickin'....
Can I get some love around here? First off, our team just got food poisoned and is playing for a state title Saturday at Ford Field. Yes it is just Michigan and D-5, but this is awesome. Where's the love?

Congrats, I guess. A Div V schhol in Michigan probably couldn't beat my son's pee wee team, but hey you did win.
Seriously, congrats!
