Largely yes. Even what we may have caused isn't something that is going to change much in short order.
Plus...it has been a desert in the SW long before any global warming might have started....at least I think. Warming had to have started a long time ago. Something caused the glaciers that covered much of Ohio to melt, but that gets off topic.

I think the water needs of the SW are needed in a shorter timeframe then anything we can do to reverse global warming.

I am for the most part not against addressing that as well.

You are certainly correct that we can't change that in short order.

As has been mentioned, Israel has been using desalination for years now.

As of now it's only providing a portion of their drinking water but is projected to provide almost all of it by 2050.

I see this as a stark contrast to how America handles things compared to some countries with the resources to do so. We are reactionary. We wait until an obvious problem coming our way is a problem to try and address it rather than be proactive and look ahead to prevent things most people can see as a looming problem.

No they are proactive, they don't reactive.

When nuclear fusion is a viable energy source (10 years or so), fresh water won’t become so much of an issue. One could argue that desalination, and population growth could potentially combat seal level rise.

We need to begin building the infrastructure to move clean energy, oil pipelines will become a thing of the past.
