It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Imagine investing the time, money, and energy into preparing for possibly the seminal event of your life, only to have it all wasted because of some idiot with a sign.

They would not be allowed to get within 100 yards in the totalitarian United States.

The crazy crowds are a part of what makes the event so special, every year.

I just don't get the crowds at the TDF and other European cycling events. These people camp for days to get a glimpse of the cyclists whizzing by. I realize it's probably one helluva party, but I'd rather be at a bar or campsite or something, not sitting on the side of the road.

No different than the people who will tailgate a football game they don't have tickets to, lol

It's the atmosphere and the spectacle of it all, and they will frequently follow the riders along the course, popping out to party, cheer, and spectate at multiple points along the route.

It ain't my thing, and even the riding part was never much my thing, but I do get it.

Browns is the Browns

... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
