It seems that, regardless of which side you're looking from, he crossed a line.

Right. Bauer is admitting he beat the crap out of her, but that she wanted him to do it. Not a great look.

It seems that much of the more extreme stuff happened after she had lost consciousness and couldn't give consent (and hadn't given it prior). Just from that alone, it looks like he's in quite a bit of trouble.

It's okay though, when she woke up he assured her that everything was alright... "I'm here, I'm here, it's okay".

Sounds like someone is mentally disturbed at the very least. Might want to see if this cat had a history of hurting animals in his past.

Can't even play the "mutual consent" card when someone is in that kind of state of fear either. It's been long since proven that victims in that state of fear succumb to the actions of their abuser.

If all this is true, dude is in a lot of hot water, not to mention we should be hearing about other victims in 3... 2... 1... (j/s, that's the way these things usually work). When "deviant" crosses the line to this kind of violence; judges, juries and the general public don't tend to give a damn if you thought it was alright at the time.
