I'm no Fox News fan, but you're being awfully dismissive for someone that is hammering on people for dismissing articles based on source alone.

Did you bother to watch and read what it said? I actually saw it earlier and knew the content. That's the cause of my reaction. Please check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

I did not watch the video because I just finished lunch and I can't be sure what Hannity's voice would do to my stomach... but I did read the article.

Basically Cuba's govt, as repressive as it is to dissent, enjoys fairly strong support from the DSA party. No comment is reported from AOC, though I wouldn't want to talk to Fox News either, so I won't hold that against her.

Socialist / communist they are the same ideology.

I think they should all refuse their social security checks when they get older. I mean you know, socialism and all.

They are both bad. Both terrible. Both oppress people. Why would I want socialism/communism or fascism here in our Country. The Country with more freedom than any other, more liberty than any other. This Country has fought wars against both Fascism and Communism. I do not think we should adapt either ideology. They both are terrible.

So any nation that has programs that make life better for their average citizen is socialist? So if a nation has national healthcare, are they a socialist country? Does having social security make us a socialist nation?

At what point does a nation go from "We have some socialist policies" to "We are a socialist nation"?

I'll admit that, whenever these discussions come up, I have to remind myself of the differences between Socialism and Communism. It's easy to get the 2 mixed during these arguments.

So that being said, the article alleged that DSA has pledged its support for the Cuban govt, which is a fact (their Twitter post is there for all to see). The details behind the state Cuba is in is certainly up for debate (Cuban govt incompetence/corruption vs US embargo), but the fact is that our elected officials have nothing to say about their party's support of a government that has a pretty strong track record of suppressing any sort of dissent.

And that is exactly what you'll get out of it if you refuse to listen to the propaganda Hannity is spewing that goes along with it. I would venture to guess if you only actually look at half of a story you'll only get half of what they're saying. That's the case here as well.

He's blaming many of their shortages on the Cuban government rather than the embargo which creates those shortages. He's claiming Biden was "pressured into" supporting the Cuban people's fight for freedom.

I agree that if you only read the article without the accompanying video your evaluation is correct. But then again I have never been an actual fan of AOC or the extremists of either side. But these two things, the story and the video are a package deal here. On the same page, under the same headline. I understand why you don't want to hear what Hannity has to say. But if you actually wish to get the message as a whole, that's a part of it.

In fairness to you, it's easy to get them mixed up since they are very similar. Silence says it all as far as I am concerned. They are for the communists.

The irony is that many that supported Trump, or those that still support Trump or who are basically Anti-Dem, believe that Biden is for open borders. And even after this they will persist and continue to say the same thing.

Yes it is odd. The Biden administration has never advocated open borders. So I'm not getting the "irony" here. In this case a middle ground is being established. They will be resettled in a third country so they are not put in danger by being sent back to Cuba but at the same time will not be brought to the United States.

But we all know how this works. If you let them in you're wrong and if you don't let them in you're wrong. It's the old heads I win tails you lose philosophy. I mean since the topic of irony was brought up.

No. The irony is that Mayorkas is a former Cuban refugee, who successfully sought asylum here in the States.

I don't agree. No-one is saying that those seeking asylum can't or won't be successful. No-one is dismissing the asylum seekers or belittling them.

But to my point - many on the "right" said pre-election and still do that Biden is for Open Borders. And here we have proof that's not true ... and sure as eggs is eggs - they'll be more claims that Biden is for open borders in the future.

The vast majority of those illegally crossing our southern border are not allowed to stay. They are sent back. You just keep repeating false talking points.
