I'm a day early, but I had started working on it a day before it went "live", so it's ok, and fitting...

Fifteen Years ago, DawgTalkers.net was born - August 10th, 2006 (my registration date).

The team's official message boards were changing to an abomination and I figured I could set up an exact replica of the board we had all grown to love, and I did. I had registered there on the original Dawg Talk Message Boards mid-way through the 2002 Butch Davis season, the first one I had allowed myself to get excited about following The Move. I was hooked immediately and became a regular visitor, to the extent that when the team announced their new boards in 2006, I felt like I was losing my home and I HAD to do something. Fortunately, I already owned a license for the exact same software the team used for their old message boards, so setting up an exact replica proved to be somewhat trivial. Over the years we've moved servers a few times and had some interruptions of various sorts, but we've kept on churning, and hopefully we keep on churning for years to come.

Happy 15th Birthday to all you DawgTalkers.... you're almost old enough to drive!

And we thank you for it. Yes, I made a few posts on what the Browns considered their "new board". But the functionality of it was a far inferior product. This place looks and feels like the original Dawg Talk. I joined the original one back in 1999. Been on the original one and this one when it was created ever since.

Thanks again.

Thanks for all of love, time, and money you have poured into these boards.

I hated the new and improved "Browns Chat". It was stripped of function, and was ugly. This site was the "original" in every way that matters.

First, thanks for putting up this site.

Second, even though I love tech and all things gadgety, sometimes it really is just the "Keep It Simple" principle that wins out.

I will say though, that I belong to a Jeep Forum as well, and it's the only other message board software I find likeable, besides this one. Most have so much crap, bad layouts, bad searching ability, etc.

The only negative here is the ads. I'm not complaining about your need to make money to pay for this (I second the donate/support function that you used to have), but more so that the ads seem to be getting larger and more frequent (in between every 2-3 posts). That's not even my complain, it more that they are this bright white, and when you run the classic black and orange forum, the bright white ads are like blinding.

Can't thank you enough for keeping this alive.

I joined the original in '04 and was still in college. Graduated in '05 (hence the handle). Been addicted to the place ever since.

Since joining the original chat, I have graduated college, got married, graduated law school, had two kids, obtained a career, and experienced a lot of major life moments.

This place has been a staple for me.

Thanks Purp. Once I left Ohio Dawgtalk(ers) became a real link to feeling a sense of home. I left Ohio but the Browns are in my blood. Having this place to chat with others and have all the Browns news shared has been a huge part of keeping feeling homesick at bay.
Thanks again.

15 years...wow.

Thanks for the fast action in setting this up. I know a lot of us were scrambling around wondering what to do and where to go.

If the ads don't begin paying what they used to, it may be making a comeback, actually. The site is in no danger, at all, in any way of going away, but the ads have not been supporting it this offseason. People don't post as much when things are going good.

The biggest thanks needs to go to the Refs that have donated their time and energy, tirelessly, to keep this place what it is. I just built it; they are the biggest part of what makes it Home for everyone.
They always have been.

Congrats and thanks to you, PPE, and the refs. I don't post as much as I used to, but I check in every day and read a lot. I'd be glad to support the site if you add a Paypal button.

Thanks PPE.

It was needed. A place for the fans to discuss the Browns.

And an expanded format to discuss other topics.

We may not always agree which is fine. But it is interesting to read the interpretation of fans on how they see things.

A huge deserved thanks to you for creating this place and keeping it up and running. Solid relationships have been developed here that would not have been possible otherwise. I've been a member of quite a few message boards, and none come close to the intelligence and respect shown here. Sadly, a lot of message boards have gone the route of just making a fb and/or Twitter page, which eliminates the personal attachments to the topics and posters that you see here. I'm very grateful for this message board.

First of all, thanks as always for keeping this place alive and well. It is where I go to share my Browns passion with others. I converted a friend of mine to being a Browns fan, but he ain’t hard-core.

If you ever get a ‘donate button’, I’ll have to get a more computer-savvy friend to make a payment on my behalf (I don’t transfer money on-line, cuz I don’t trust the Internet wink. )

My wife has stopped asking why I’m here 300 days out of the year (it’s probably more than that), because she realizes that I can’t NOT do it.

Here’s to 15 more!

I've been using Paypal for around 15 years for online purchases, and never had a problem. Its very secure. I can't say the same for a local restaurant where I used a credit card to pay and an unauthorized wager was placed with an online gambling site on the same day that I used my card there. Any credit card purchase you make anywhere is processed on the internet.

Wish I could have been there at the launch.

I recall your convo with The Old Board about starting up Our Current DT site. Dawgs were doubtin'/hatin'... but you did it.

It's amazing, PrP.

It's like we all have this uninterrupted timeline back to when the internet was new- and we all found each other.

Stuff like that is truly important.

And now- You (with us, on your coattails) are part of Cleveland Browns Culture/lore, going forward.

You gave us a hub. A clubhouse. A meeting place for everyone who still wanted to see a CLE championship.

I am thankful that you made this place for all of us.
I am thankful that you maintained this place for all of us.
I am thankful that this place provides a direct connex to My First Browns Cyber Experience.

It looks right.
It feels right.
And, Gawd help me, it usually smells right when I visit.

PPE: your fansite has been a lifeline and primary resource. We are so lucky to have you repping for The Crew.

You did this thing.
You did this wonderful thing.

Take a well-deserved bow, Maestro.

Thank you for that, Clem. Those are a lot of very kind words smile

The one thing that struck me on thinking back across the years is all the names that only ever came here when the team was bad, and here we sit on the cusp of the greatness we all have hoped for over the last decade-plus and so many have moved on.

A tip of the hat to everyone here; to those who never left. This all stays alive by virtue of people continuing to come here. I just provide the meeting place, all of you give it life and energy.

Thanks for this space. My second home away from home. Here is where my Lesser God lives LOLetc. Really, came here after the previous and never missed the other. DT passes the Sniff Test if you stay upwind of PP.

My thanks to you, PPE! And also to the mods, refs, helpers, any and all make this happen and have weathered the storm of lousy pigskin. We have been snakebitten in bizarre and horrible ways.

Karma is relentless. Comeuppance is long overdue. Celebrate it here! nanner Thanks, Purp!
