I understand that. I've watched football of all types for 50 years. My point has two prongs:

1.) Game prep and Game-day has a routine that they will follow 17+ times this year. Why not practice it? I was happy to see so many starters in uniform even though they didn't play. That's part of the routine I'm typing about;

2.) No one in the NFL TODAY has played in front of more than 10,000 fans for over 18 months. We've never run the current offense in front of more than 10,000 fans...ever. KC has as loud a stadium as ours. May not matter. I wouldn't take that chance. I know maybe 1% of what Ski knows about his team. Lots of truths/facts in this post.

I understand what you are getting at.

But the players practice these scenarios with poster boards, the QB and D captain have headsets in their helmets to relay sets and formations. Film study.

I would guess I’m speaking for you all too on a couple of these points.

A couple Captain Obvious points:
- I want to win every game like I’m sure u all do
- our first division game is Week 8
- win the division, that’s goal #1, that’s the exclusive invitation to the bowl party

Going off of those couple points, I expect Ski to have the team ready Week 1. But just like everyone else in the league, I expect us to be rusty. The season is a different animal then the preseason and off-season. Just like the playoffs are a different animal then the regular season.

Now keep in mind what I said about my first point. But…these first two regular season games, I want to see consistency….the end.
Whether we win or lose after the game I will be thinking - how did we look? Did we look organized on O and D? Could I see what their overall game plan was in attacking this team?

By game 3 (I’m hoping sooner) we better be firing on all cylinders. As stated in one of my obvious points, we need to win the division. Since 2000, the AFC North team with the best division record went to the playoff every year except twice.

We have a lot of winnable or games we will be favored outside of the division. We just need to be as healthy as we can

I hate that, as nobody ever reports if its short term IR (3) weeks, or the dreaded year long IR stint.

Whoa, that could actually end up working in our favor. I was reading on another site that Davis is liked a lot by not just us but also the Ravens (who have depth issues at WR) and should we cut him, he could very well thrive there.

So do suspended players count against roster spots? If not, that buys us some time.

“Travis Etienne’s rookie campaign may already be over.

The Jaguars running back will undergo surgery to repair a mid-foot sprain he suffered during Monday’s preseason tilt against the Saints, according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Ian Rapoport tweeted Etienne’s timeline is officially 12 weeks, noting the rookie could return late in the season “if all goes well.”“

Coach Meyer can’t be enjoying this in his first season.

Indeed. It also buys us time to work a trade for Higgy. I think Davis is going to take his spot.

To me, that would be incredibly stupid. Why trade Higgins, who has produced very well and who has a great thing going with Baker, with the intent of keeping an unproven guy? It's not like Higgins is expensive either.

Davis has looked pretty good, but Higgins has produced on the field in real games.

Maybe so, and I am not so much advocating that. We talked about surprise cuts...Higgy would qualify and makes some sense.

Higgins or Hodge Pick one?

Higgins does Touchdown dances, (red carpet), and has known rapport with your quarterback.

Hodge has, seen discussions after drops or misses about where the play was supposed to go, and a history from last year of ending drives in punts. But may be a better run blocker and special teams?

Hodge may have 12 catches on the year, and Higgins may end with 12 on a day, but why let Touchdowns and positive plays guide the decision.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Browns don't have to get rid of either Higgins or Hodge..keep them both!

Find another way to cut roster down because after this last preseason game no telling where the roster will stand when it comes to injuries

well, if current injury trends continue, we won't have any LBers to carry, so that opens lots of spots for all the WR we could want, lol

Love seeing these guys practicing again. Add Takk into the mix. We have two and a half weeks to get as healthy as possible. It’d be great to go into the season with all our starters playing. If we’re going to beat KC at Arrowhead we’ll need everyone.

Huge that all these guys can come back and be ready to go.

Losing Phillips for the year hurts. He was going to play a big role.

However, we have players who can fill that hole.

If we can remain healthy till the KC game that would be big.

The Falcon game. No starters should play.

Nothing to gain that can not be done.

On preseason reps.
I really wish to see the starters play. But I get it. Collectively if starters don't play preseason they eliminate injuries as a whole for starters. So I see the benefit. 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 can get reps for readying the starters. Maybe not the same as preseason reps but worth the safety for preseason injuries. All should be good.
