http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/nfl_experts/post/Patriots-complain-about-crowd-noise?urn=nfl,52422 Patriots complain about crowd noise By Jason Cole Monday, Nov 5, 2007 12:13 pm EST The NFL is looking into allegations that the Indianapolis Colts piped in noise during the game Sunday between the Colts and the Patriots. The charge comes after Patriots President Jonathan Kraft became the latest NFL team executive to accuse the Colts of the distracting tactic that is against the rules. "We're aware of it and we're looking into it," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Monday. "It may just be the TV feed from CBS, but we're checking it out." Observers at the game said there seemed to be a "skip" in the sound during the game Sunday, which the Patriots won 24-20. That might confirm the long-held suspicion among many people in the NFL that the Colts play loud crowd noise to help distract opponents when the other team is on offense. "We're aware of the accusations, but there has never been anything to substantiate it," Aiello said. A Patriots spokesman said Monday the team plans no formal protest to the league. Kraft approached NFL Vice President of Security Milt Ahlerich after Kraft and his parents, Patriots owners Bob and Myra Kraft, left the Patriots locker room after the game. Kraft was angry as he told Ahlerich the league needed to look into the allegation. Ahlerich is the same person who confiscated a videotape made by the Patriots during a game against the New York Jets in Week 2 that led to the Spygate controversy. In addition, New England quarterback Tom Brady also commented on how loud it was in the RCA Dome. "I don't know how you measure levels of being deaf, but we couldn't hear anything out there," Brady said. This is the latest in a string of incidents between the teams that have fueled the growing Colts-Pats rivalry. In the past, Colts General Manager Bill Polian has vehemently argued that the Patriots have bent the rules in terms of use of replay challenges and the pass interference rule.

Man what a bunch of whiners, didn't you guys win the game too?
Man, those Patriots, they are absolutely classless. With Seymour and Vrabel going at people's legs and making dirty plays. And then of course you have Brady, he doesn't play dirty, I just hate him.

If you've heard the clip, you can DEFINITELY hear skipping like the crowd was on CD.

CBS TAKES BLAME FOR SOUND GLITCH Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that CBS has taken responsibility for the bizarre sound glitch that has prompted speculation that the Colts were caught red-handed in the act of piping phony crowd noise into the RCA Dome. Per Schefter, the vibrating sound as the Pats were driving at the start of the fourth quarter was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck. Schefter says that the sound could not be heard in the stadium. We've spoken to some radio folks who also believe that the phenomenon was not the result of a glitch during the use of artificial crowd noise. Oh well. Controversy is a lot juicier. But even when the truth isn't sexy, we've still got to respect it. Link

So when the Jets complain of cheating, it's all gravy. But as soon as the Patriots do it, they are whiners and classless?
Come on now, you can't be serious. I'm so sick of all this classless Patriots crap.
But who am I kidding, I mean, I know Vrabel and Seymour are trying to take peoples legs out, it's the only way they are as good as they are...

I'm pretty sure the Pats have accused the Colts of this before too. Seems to me that this claim will go as far as the last one.

Well, they ARE the most classless football team in the NFL, possibly in all of professional sports. It's a pretty well known fact.

This is football we are talking about isn't it??? We aren't talking about a chess tournament or tennis match are we? Give it a rest and just play ball.
The 2 teams are both Super Bowl caliber and should be above this whining.

I am going to be curious to see how Bellichick explains an injury to a key player when they are leading by 30 in the 4th and the starters are still out there. WIth his smug expression "just trying to win the game" ---idiot.

The big difference is that the Patriots play under the same salary restrictions as everybody else, so while I'm definitely sick of them, I couldn't hate them as much as I hate the Yankees.

They did... and nothing was found from it...
I'll say one thing... a dome makes a world of difference in how loud a stadium can get. Reliant stadium has been incredibly loud with the roof closed. I'll be interested to see if they open it up at all... the last home game was perfect football weather (low 70s, sunny) but they left the roof closed I'm guessing to increase the sound during the game. It's just amazingly loud
Most people in Houston were TICKED during the World Series when MLB made them open up the roof because it wasn't half as loud there.
I've never been in the RCA dome, but I can almost guarentee you that it would be much louder than Gillete stadium just for the simple fact that it is a dome.

I went to a Colts game last year. It was amazing how loud it got in there. I can understand how someone would think that it wasnt real.

This isn't the first time the Colts have been accused of pumping sound in the dome. I believe the Steelers, Eagles and Packers also accussed them of this. Don't hold me to the team names (Steelers I am positive of though) but this isn't the first time.

By Nick Bakay | NFL.com Don Shula stopped chowing down on all that Nutrisystem lasagna just long enough to open his yapper about how spy-gate should earn New England an asterisk, and I have one question: How many points are the angrier-than-ever Pats going to run up in their next start -- a million? I pity the fool who has next. Hmmm… let's see, they have a bye week in which to stew, then… Oh, dear god, it's the Bills on the national stage thanks to the flex sked moving them to SNF?! Crap! Allow a Buffalo boy to file this one under "It Never Ends." Shula's been retired forever, and he's still killing the Bills! Hey, Don, how about next time you just pretend you actually own your legacy, and show some dignity?! Better yet, why don't you wait and see if New England actually wins 'em all before you start with the bitterness? I have never been more okay with forgiving any provisos should the Pats actually run the table, and it's not just the bitterness talking. In an historical case I have built previously in these very virtual pages, it's academic: Modern scheduling means an undefeated Patriots campaign will add up to two more wins than those vaunted, perpetually scowling Dolphins of '72. Say what you will, the 'Fins alumni never handle this thing gracefully, what with the champagne toasts and Shula sound bites. They are officially grumpy old men, and every time someone comes within sniffing range of their perfection, the only thing they do is remind me of Calvin Murphy, sitting courtside trying to jinx anyone who came close to his NBA free-throw record. Records were made to be broken… and reveal the true character of the incumbent. Oh, you want an asterisk, Don? Here you go… * Before they face the Pats, guess who the Bills get to punish this weekend? That's right, Miami. This one will get ugly -- you heard it here first! i just found this extremely funny! ANyways....so the whole * bizness...whts your take on it?

LOL, GOOD POINT! Couldn't have said it better myself! Bellyache is upset at Dungy for blasting the Pats for cheating so they want to get even with the Colts nad Dungy, well, Dungy has been one of the classiesxt Coaches ever, in the NFL!

the chicago white sox do this, and it's pretty obvious...
i went when the tribe played them back in august, and at random points during the game, you'd just hear this obvious rise in a crowd cheer, yet you looked around, and nobody was really cheering or anything... i don't think they were "cheating" but it just shows that teams do pipe in noise...
i've seen the video, and it's tough to determine if it's from the field or just the broadcast, but i think you would have heard more from the players if you heard that skipping noise on the field, because then, it's pretty obvious...
and the other thing is, if they were piping in noise, wouldn't they be using mp3 over CD?

Well, I think the * is just sour grapes and fear from Don Shula. And thats sad, because I love Don Shula.
But, spygate does raise eyebrows, but the punishment has been laid, nothing more is needed.

Well, just remember though, how many of the teams that won Super Bowls in the past were on steroids? Just as a example, look at our opponent this week. If they want to punish the Pats, who I really do not like, you must think about punishing other teams that everyone KNEW were on drugs before there was testing. Just a thought on my part I guess.
Hope springs eternal in the heart of a true Browns fan. GO BROWNS!!!!!

On a personal level all the best. But as a professional figure I detest Don Shula, I think he is just not truthful when talking about the dophins being the only team with an undefeated season as actually the Browns have multiple undefeated seasons since 1946.
I don't know which would be worse, watching another team claim to be (soo great) because they go undefeated or watching that detested figure on tv any more times re stating some glory from a lifetime ago opening bottles of bitterness because every team again has a loss.
How fitting it woud be if the dolphins go winless in a year that a team goes witout a loss, Ah poetic justice then they all could Doubly not drink!
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
