Parker scores 18 points to lead Findlay to 70-68 exhibition win over Ohio State COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Marcus Parker scored 18 points to lead Findlay to a 70-68 victory over Ohio State on Tuesday night, the second time in a week a Division II school beat a Big Ten team in an exhibition game. On Saturday, Grand Valley State beat No. 8 Michigan State, the conference preseason favorite, 85-82 in double overtime. The Big Ten made headlines this way to start the football season when then-No. 5 Michigan lost 34-32 to Appalachian State from the Football Championship Subdivision. Jamar Butler hit a 3-pointer with 1:52 left to bring the Buckeyes, who have one starter back from the team that lost to Florida in the national championship game in March, within 70-67. He later made a free throw with 4 seconds remaining to pull the Buckeyes within two points, but Ohio State was unable to regain possession as time expired. Morgan Lewis had 15 points and Josh Bostic added 13 for the Oilers. Butler finished with 22 points and Kosta Koufos added 20 for the Buckeyes in their final exhibition game. They open the regular season on Nov. 12 against Wisconsin-Green Bay in the NIT Season Tip-Off. Freshmen Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr. and Daequan Cook all left Ohio State after last season for the NBA. In a season where they'll play 30 games that DO count why should I work up a sweat over one that doesn't? Call us when Maryland sniffs a National Championship.....

Don't know whether Maryland has or not. Don't care. I was just tweaking DC because he's well known as a Terp. DC- Actually, I have a daughter at BG and a son at OSU. So I root for both. I'm guessing by your response that you can dish it but not take it?

Yea, they won the basketball championship the year before OSU won the football championship... Became just the 4th team in history to win the basketball championship and play in a January bowl game in the same year... I just didn't see the need to defend Maryland. OSU laid an egg and rather than own up to it, the strategy is to deflect by saying it doesn't matter, then attack the school the other person likes, it's right out of the OSU fan handbook.... Fortunately there are some OSU fans on here who don't follow the handbook and are actually rational people.

Kind of OT, but how hard would it be to get a single ticket to the OSU/Indiana game on 2/10?? I'm driving my wife to a conference in Columbus in Februrary and I have the afternoons to myself

Shouldn't be too difficult if they continue to play this way.

Eh, No biggie
It was just an exhibition game and after losing 4 of the teams top 6 players it may take a little time for the team to gel.

If you think I attacked you then your skin not only is thin it must be transparent. News Flash: The game doesn't matter. It was an exhibition. It matters to guys like you because...well....I don't know why it would matter to a Terp fan. Jealousy, perhaps? Not sure. I just know that had Maryland lost a game (and they may have lost several already, I don't know or really care) I would not have posted a comment like yours on a board full of Maryland fans without expecting someone to take a small (and in this case, very small) shot at me.

No DC i too found it funny. Sure its no big deal b/c it doesnt count, but it should be a cause for concern. A pretty good recruiting class and some holdovers should be able to handle a D2 school, but hey it is what it is...a practice game.

You would be wrong.... I'm very much used to taking crapp in every OSU thread because .... well because if you state anything objectively, that's what happens. I enjoy getting my shots in at OSU and I take my fair share... and I keep coming back.

Hey, you asked for a response. I gave you one then you acted like I tried to run down your cat. Seemed a little thin skinned to me. As far as OSU goes....I'm sure they are showing the proper amount of humiliation after the loss. In an exhibition. In a game no one will remember in 2 months once the Big 10 season starts. Good Luck to the Terps this year. Wanna play football?

Columbus-Was Ohio State embarrassed by its 70-68 exhibition loss to Division II Findlay on Tuesday night?
"Wouldn't you be?" asked OSU senior point guard Jamar Butler. "Come on, we got beat by a Division II team. If I said it's no big deal, I'd be lying." ... ... "This game meant a lot more to us than it did to them, let's be honest. For us, it was the thrill of a lifetime and for them it was just another day of basketball" - but it wasn't like Ohio State was blowing this game off. - Findlay humiliates 'awful' Buckeyes

In the grand scheme of things the game means very little... I get it.

Congrats, as far as the fans handbook goes, you've just perfectly executed the OSU trifecta... You can now move on to the advanced study course....

The game may not 'count' but, it should serve as a wake up call to a complacent team.

So why do you find it necessary to try to attack OSU and rub it in our face everytime we lose a game.
If we did that to you everytime Maryland lost it would get old right? andtime consuming

Attack? I'm sure Otto would take exception to that. I didn't attack...
And second, I most certainly do NOT do it everytime... in fact I very seldom do it. But they lost to a DII school... In my own humble opinion, that is worthy of some ribbing.

lmao - GO FINDLAY!!!
I do find this somewhat funny and sad... because Findlay is a very small D2 school... oh well. I spent a lot of time on that campus growing up... so I guess I can't feel too bad about them beating the Bucks... especially since it was exibition.

Getting awful quiet over there? Yeah, Kentucky getting shallacked by a Gardner-Webb team (9-21 last year, DI some unknown conference)....
Parity in college hoops? I'd believe it. I mean theres only 5 guys who can play at a time and whatnot...

It's a freaking exhibition game and we're a young team that lost a lot and is trying to develop and contend in the same year. There are going to be bumps. Kentucky lost to Gardener Webb tonight and Memphis was trailing Richmond on their on court in the second half yesterday. It happens. Ohio State, just like Memphis and Kentucky, will make the NCAA tournament this year and that's when the season really begins. I'll lose a lot more sleep if we lose to Findlay come March as opposed to losing to them in November.
Time and change will surely show How firm thy friendship O - HI - O

Awful quiet? Give me a break. You can't post in a thread I've posted in once, and then say "awful quite over there now, aren't you?" I show up whether my team wins or loses. Who do you think I am? An OSU basketball fan? Notice only 20 something replies in this thread, most of them from guys like DC Do you think just because Kentucky lost to Gardner-Webb that Ohio State should be less embarrassed? The fact is, both teams should be absolutely humiliated. But, don't act like I won't come here and address our loss. Anyone who thought the transition from Tubby to Gillispie was going to be smooth was mistaken. I still like Gillispie, and I still think he's the right guy for the job. But, let's not forget that we have very little talent that was left here by Tubby. Our talent, Patterson and Legion, are young. We're going to be fine. We are still no worse than we were last year. We will continue to grow as a team, and get better every game. Any UK fan who wasn't expecting growing pains is in for a lot of disappointments this year. With all that being said, I'm still sick about losing to Gardner-Webb. But, we'll get over it. We'll be fine.

Since I know several UK fans I don't feel that this question is out of line.....Just exactly when will UK fans stop blaming Tubby for all their problems? You guys haven't won less than 20 games since you got caught cheating. Tubby must not have been too bad. Hey, I see Maryland beat Concordia. Of course, since it was an exhibition the score was really hard to find......probably because it doesn't really count.....

75-72 in double overtime.
No, seriously, they won 75-42... but a win is a win... ask Findlay, Grand Prarie View, and Gardner-Webb...

Tubby walked into a great situation. He walked in to a National Championship team back in 1998. I'm not saying Tubby was terrible. I'm saying, Tubby wasn't good enough for UK. He took the 98 team that was handed to him, and eventually turned it into what we've been the last couple years, due to poor recruiting.

That's Gary Williams problem... great coach, poor recruiter. Maryland built their national championship team out of a bunch of relative nobodys coming out of high school... and Gary's assistants did all of the recruiting, then when they had success, the assistants took head coaching jobs and the Terps have struggled to bring in the great players... which is sad since so many great players come from their own backyard.
