Jake Trotter @Jake_Trotter #Browns GM Andrew Berry: "we decided that one of our major football priorities would be to make Joel Bitonio a Brown for the rest of his career…"
Phew, two stud guards will be here for the long haul
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
You don't often hear Joel's name mentioned in the same sentence as "Gold Jacket" But you know,, perhaps it's time..
He's certainly earned consideration.
Great news. First Teller, now Joel.. Who's next
Well, what was it, his first 4 years, he played beside another guy who got a lot of attention.
From what I can find, other than 1 snap against the Cowboys, Bitonio hasn't missed a snap since the start of 2017. Is that right?
With the exception of last year's playoff game against the Steelers I believe you might be right. The last time he missed I believe was in 2016 when he missed 11? Games.
Now we only need to worry about Tretter, Conklin, and Hubbard's spots. I think Hance has Hubbard's spot covered, at the least. If Nick Harris can develop a little faster he might be able to fill Tretter's shoes, but it's not there, yet. We may be drafting a RT this year.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
I think we’ll also be steadfast in making sure Chubb finishes his career here too

I like it. I have long felt that you build a line from the inside out. The quickest way to a QB is up the middle and a running game starts up the middle.
I don't think Treeter will remain with the team, so something has to be done with Harris as I don't think he is the answer at center. I could see us drafting a plug and play center in the next draft. Maybe not round 1, but maybe rounds 2 or 3.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
Yeah, drafting a center will be paramount IMO. If we go DL, WR, Center with our first three picks I would be happy

I love the Joel and Teller signings. Smart and good value imo.
Not sure why Tretter is considered to be gone - I have not seen/heard anything there. But idk.
Based on how analytically driven the Browns are - I doubt Chubb plays an entire career for the Browns. RB's just don't have extended careers - and being one of the very best in the NFL, someone will be willing to pay him more than the Browns I expect. Hopefully we keep him for many years, especially if he is getting spelled by quality back ups like Hunt and Johnson. But I can't see him retiring a Brown.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
I think Tretter’s age and injury (I think his knees are pretty much shot) means he has one last year in him here (and maybe overall)

we already drafted Tretter's replacement last year with Nick Harris
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne

Yeah, but he hasn’t shown me anything to think he can do it … both from an injury perspective and a performance perspective

Just pulling it out of my rear end...But what if Tretter already let the team know he's retiring after the year, Browns know they have to keep that Oline intact...thus the big deals coming out. Browns know Tretter's salary will come off the book as well.
2022 draft class for Center position is one of the best in a long time. You can get a stud in the 4th round if you wanted. For example Vastardis Michigan is the 14th rated Center in the upcoming draft and he is a pretty good prospect. Luke Matthews youngest brother is the 8th ranked Center kid can play and its in his genes.
jmho
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Maybe, but I doubt.
The guy is 30, but at least to me he seems to be a "old" 30. He has 1 year left on the deal at $7.something next year. I don't think cutting him will cost much.
We have a lot of defenders on 1 year deals and we are going to want to keep a few of them, so I just think JC is done in Cleveland after this season.
But hey, if we can work him in, fine....I just don't see it. I also don't see Harris able to fill in...we need to draft a big bodied center.
