It was never going to be controlled as its a global problem and every country has international travel. The USA would have to exist in a bubble and thats not possible.

I agree and that sucks because COVID is far worse than the flu.

I don’t want to speak for Clem, but I took the “we” as the world, not just the USA.

Probably so, if there ever was a realistic window. We would have to vaccinate the entire world before the virus had a chance to mutate. Impossible except for some slim statistical chance. We will be passing this around for a century or more just like we pass the common cold and the flu.

Human life expectancy in this country has already dropped 1.5 years since this broke out. That might be fairly normal for a new illness, but unless we come to grips with this China virus, we can expect to see life expectancy rates to continue to drop. Even now, vaccinated people catch it and die from it, and it will get worse as more mutations are on the horizon. Give it 25 years, 50 might become a ripe old age.

If you have ever caught a common cold or the flu, chances are good you will catch this as well. You might survive it a few times, but sooner or later it will be curtains.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

White House Doctor Who Raved About Trump's Health Now Says Omicron Is Election Ruse

The former White House doctor who raved about Donald Trump’s “excellent” health to a skeptical public is now claiming that the disturbing new COVID-19 variant omicron is nothing but a midterm election ploy by the Democrats.

Dr. Ronny Jackson, now a Republican MAGA congressman from Texas, scoffed at the variant the World Health Organization has deemed “highly transmissible” and “concerning.”

“Here comes the ... Midterm Election Variant!” Jackson quipped in a tweet Saturday, calling it nothing more than a trick to “push unsolicited nationwide mail-in ballots.”

Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a professor of medicine and surgery at George Washington University, lashed Jackson on CNN Sunday for dangerously spreading outrageous misinformation about COVID-19.

He blamed people like Jackson as the reason 50 million people have yet to be vaccinated in America, and people continue to die.

The continuing COVID toll is due to “people like Ronny Jackson, people who doubt the severity of this pandemic, people who have doubted the consequences of not getting vaccinated, people who have doubted the efficacy of masks,” Reiner told Jim Acosta.

“So now as a new potentially dangerous variant is identified, you see this anti-science coming from a former doctor. I call him ‘former doctor’ because that’s how he behaves.”

Acosta called Jackson an “embarrassment.”

Misinformation from Jackson isn’t a big surprise. He gushed about Trump’s “excellent” health after the then-president’s physical in 2018, despite Trump’s extra pounds, well-known high-fat diet and golf-cart golf for his only exercise. There were also concerns about his mental acuity.

Jackson also listed Trump’s height at 6-foot-3 and weight at surprising 239 pounds, though many weren’t buying it, especially since the stats put Trump just under the threshold for obese.

Asked how he could reconcile Trump’s health habits and appearance with a determination that his health is “excellent,” the fervent Trump supporter chalked it up to “genetics.” That’s “the way God made him,” said Jackson.

What is the point of all those tweets?

Is Trump a weightwatchers spokesperson now?

I think it's to question the veracity and reliability of the doctors statements. I mean if he said that trump weighs 239 pounds, we know he's a liar. But then being a habitual liar doesn't seem to bother people as much as it used to.

I don't really care about the weight stuff all that much, but the comments about Omicron being a "ruse" are extremely disturbing. Didn't this news come out of Europe and South Africa? Do the Democrats control those countries and their respective media groups?

I think my biggest issue with the extreme wing of Republicans right now (this guy, MTG, Boebert, Gosar, Jordan, Gaetz, etc.) is that they are offering conspiracy theories and xenophobic rhetoric about COVID, minority representatives, "socialists", the "radical left" and a whole bunch of other stuff, but what I haven't seen - or perhaps I missed it - is that they have not advocated for anything substantive (giving Kyle Rittenhouse a Medal of Honor certainly doesn't count). That is a very disturbing dynamic, especially when it touches on a pandemic.

It seems this is quickly becoming the latest right wing calling card in terms of Covid. Now FOX News has climbed on board. I guess killing people doesn't seem to concern the far right anymore.

Fox News hosts suggest Democrats are making up new Covid variants – which they’re obviously not

In the latest instance of Republicans spouting bizarre political fantasies, hosts of Saturday’s edition of Fox and Friends appeared to make the case that the Democrats are behind coronavirus variants.

The comments came a day after the World Health Organisation labelled the B.1.1.529 strain, first identified in South Africa, a “variant of concern” and gave it the name omicron – the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet.

Presenter Rachel Campos-Duffy started the discussion by saying Pete Buttigieg, the transport secretary, warned the “supply chain problem” can’t be fixed “until the pandemic is over”.

“And now we see these new variants,” she continued. “So that’s the answer: more lockdowns, more lockdowns, more fear and therefore [Buttigieg] doesn’t have to do his job of fixing the supply chain because ‘we’ll keep this whole thing going’.”

“Always a new variant,” added co-host Will Cain, while Pete Hegseth said “you can count on a variant about every October”.

Needless to say that the comments are a load of nonsense.

The only harmful thing we’ve seen former presidential candidate Buttigieg release into the world is a cringeworthy campaign dance to Panic! At the Disco.

We still haven’t recovered.

Meanwhile, Twitter users have reacted with shock to the broadcasters’ “grotesque” insinuation:

I don't disagree with that. But after seeing those pictures if you're trying to make the insinuation that trump actually weighs 239 pounds.... Never mind, I know you're smarter than that. However, if you do actually believe that you would have lost your ass as the guy who guesses peoples weight at the county fair. naughtydevil

So the guy who believed the Collusion lie,
Who believed the Dossier lie,
Who believed the Quid Pro Quo lie,
Who believed the Jussie Smollett lie,
Who believed every lie fed him by his people in media,
Now wants to point a finger and cry about FOX.

Both of you are way too far into the weeds and seem to be missing the point.

Look at those (and other) pictures of Trump. Look at the many articles describing his eating and sedentary lifestyle. A doctor with a straight face said he was in excellent health when he's obviously in the obese/morbidly obese category.

Unlike you and Pitt in this Covid thread, Trump does not live rent free in my head.

I could care less about how much he weighs or if he has holes in his underpants. notallthere

You say he doesn't live in your head, and then talk about the holes in his pants.

If you say so....

I'll take sides on this one.
Yes, photos can be deceiving, but not every photo- all the time.

These two men are exactly the same height. Why does this matter? Because people like Ronnie Jackson, Michael Cohan and Sean Spicer are willing to tell the American public any lie their boss puts in their mouths. Even lies as easily disproved as Donald Trump is 6'3/232" and Trump's inauguration crowds were the biggest ever, period. If the D00D is willing to lie directly to America's face, it's nothing for him to do it through his cadre of ventriloquist's dummies.

The fittest man he's ever seen?
Ronnie, please. At one time, you were an actual doctor.

The Thing about Covid still, part 7 , is.
Your either going to die from the Covid...
Or you are going to Get the Covid and live through it...
Or you are not going to get the Covid!!

I chose option 3. ( Like Joe Pesci in the movie, "way down south" with Maris tomei and Ralph Maccio, when he's about to fight that guy for 500$, I want covid to go get the 500 dollars before I kick it's #$$, spread it out, so I can see it. "how do I know that's not just a 20 with a bunch of 1s wrapped around it.

I am so sick of covid. Once again it takes the life of another friend. My former employer, and long time friend. I swear the next time I hear somebody say it's not real, or that you have almost zero percent chance of dying from it, or it's no worse than the flu, they may get throat punched.

Condolences man, I feel for you. It's hard to fathom how so many are cavalier or blind to the reality. But then despicable individuals like Ronny Jackson and Flynn et-al really spend a lot of time trying to spread misinformation that gets embraced by many.

I'll tell you what, you get him to admit he lied about the election being stolen and then maybe you'll convince somebody. As for now you've supported him every step of the way and still typed the BS above.

GM… Sorry to hear you lost another friend to COVID. Feel free to throat punch away any and all deniers or those that downplay it.
…Even if you happen past my father. He recently stated in an email to me “it’s more political than it is real”. I just sent him back a photo of me at work with in my scrubs and PPE and replied, “It must be nice to be able to think that way. It’s this real to me.” (Referring to the photo)
It’s infuriating. It’s frustrating. It’s a sad testimony to today’s divided world.

May your friend Rest In Peace. May those that loved him look back at their time with him fondly.

I'm so sorry to hear of yet another loss GM. My wife lost her uncle who was a Covid denier. What some of them fail to realize is that their death doesn't hurt any less no matter how they felt about Covid. It's gotten to the point that Covid has cost the lives of so many people who have lost loved ones. And the longer it takes for people to take this seriously, the more lives of survivors it will continue to touch.

Throat punched? Look who is sounding like OCD.

And yes, Covid-19 sucks, my friend. Sorry for your loss. And now we get another winter with another variant, and the idiots are still politicizing a deadly disease.

I'm sounding like my old self where I let my emotions run free. Dave was always my friend, and we could dump each others problems on ourselves as we both trusted each other enough to know those problems would go no further than ourselves. I am going to miss him like a parent for the rest of my days.

I'm not 40, and I am not replying for him.

yes, people should be vaccinated. Period.

My honest and sincere question, though, is "are people dying FROM covid, or WITH covid?"

I ask, because I know too many people that died "from covid", even though one was in an accident, at 90 some years old. I know several that were stage 3 and even stage 4 cancer patients.

I am in NO way saying or trying to say covid isn't deadly. I just look at the numbers of deaths here, and look at other countries, and the numbers don't add up to me.

I can't help but WONDER - is covid being blamed more than it should? That is a question. And yes, I, wife, daughter, son, and some of my siblings, are vaccinated.

My question, or, another question would be - if high blood pressure was blamed for deaths like covid is, what would the numbers look like?

If obesity were blamed for deaths in the same manner covid is, what would the numbers be?

Diabetics?

Heart failure patients?

I do not doubt that covid is real, and dangerous. What I ask is, is it THE reason for death?

And all the new variants - we'll never catch up to them, apparently. I'm not being an ass, just asking questions.

I believe everyone who wants to be vaccinated, should be vaccinated.

I believe everyone who doesn't want to be vaccinated, should have that freedom. There are many reasons why they refuse and I respect their decision.

I believe far too many people have died.

I am sorry about Dave. May he rest in peace.

That’s a really uneducated look at what is happening with Covid. I don’t have time to explain, but a little research would help you understand, it’s not that difficult. For just a short explanation, people can live with underlying medical conditions for many, many years. If they get Covid and have some of these conditions they often die, and without Covid they would have continued living with these conditions indefinitely. I’ve seen a number of people in their 40s and 50s lately die after getting Covid with no known previous medical issues. People can feign confusion and say people are lying about the numbers, or keep playing the numbers don’t add up game, but the truth is, I see the reality, and I’m tired of willful ignorance.

Well, you replied to me, so I'm assuming your post is directed at me. Did you notice I was asking questions? Perhaps not?

Did you notice I said covid was real? Did you notice I'm not an anti vaxxer? Nor is my wife, son, and daughter?

But, what you said - that people with underlying conditions CAN live for many years...........that's where my questions, or some of them come from. Did they die FROM covid, or WITH covid.

and I'm sorry you feel I'm uneducated. My questions, in PART, are based on people in the medical field that I know. But, that's 'uneducated'?

I think that's the biggest reason all of this frustrates me. So many people try to make it about politics which really detracts from the human, personal element of the situation.

With regards to your questions ... there were instances of people incorrectly being tagged with the cause of death as Covid when they were 'in accidents' etc. And this created a huge false narrative that it was deliberate and people were over counting Covid deaths. There was even a narrative that hospitals got paid more for covid deaths, so no matter what everyone was labelled as dying from Covid regardless. Again false. I believe they have gone back and tried to correctly identify and record the cause of death on all (as many as possible) deaths mis-recorded as Covid. No doubt it still happens sometimes.

Jules has explained why someone with a heart condition who would have ordinarily lived for decades and dies from contracting Covid is recorded as a Covid death. it is EXACTLY the same way with Cancer. You don't die from cancer, you die because your body shuts down due to the cancer. But when that happens, the death is counted as a cancer victim or however you want to call it.

Excess death totals (statistics) globally point to Covid deaths being UNDER counted. Cold hard stats. Take that for what it's worth.

I wonder if this might be a case where the NBA is trying to hide the fact on of their top players is vulnerable as a result of not being vaccinated?

Pftt....Trumpians.

As you can see, it doesn't matter when someone in the medical field tries to explain it.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
