We all knew in our hearts this season would come down to COVID, INJURIES, and unforeseen events. Couple posters stated we'd go 17-0, right, maybe we make the playoffs. Sure looks like the teams with MOST loyal teammates, who don't get COVID will win. Go Browns!!!

Any word on who tested postitive? Or who tested as a contact?
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

It's technically possible for them to play, but given how this year has gone, I'd count them out for Saturday.

With that many, the list is probably going to get longer as we get further into the week.

The difficulty factor in beating the Raiders has just greatly increased. This is not good at all. And just when it matters the most.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

We should get Njoku back. So that helps a little.
But we are currently without our starting left tackle and left guard. I’d assume Hance or Hudson moves to left tackle while Michael Dunn plays the guard spot.

Will a booster help? Many new studies are showing that Omicron is breaking the vaccination wall in less than a month! ~ In a new study announced on Monday, researchers from the University of Oxford tested blood samples of people 28 days after their second dose of either the Oxford-AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. ~ When omicron was introduced to those samples, scientists reported “a substantial fall” in the neutralizing antibodies that fight off Covid compared to the immune responses seen against earlier variants. ~ The research paper noted that some vaccine recipients “failed to neutralize [the virus] at all.” https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/13/oxf...icron-can-hit-the-double-vaccinated.html

I get that... just looking forward. All signs are that it will spread very quickly as it did in South Africa and vaccinations seem to offer little protection.

With fresh COVID outbreak, NFL should look for fake vaccination cards now Posted by Mike Florio on December 14, 2021, 1:58 PM EST link The NFL has a full-blown COVID outbreak. It only there was something the NFL could do to ensure that its protocols are being properly respected. Wait, there is. With record numbers of players testing positive, the NFL can — and should — vet all vaccination cards in search of fakes. The league says that 80 percent of vaccinated players got their vaccinations at team facilities. Those don’t need to be examined. As to the other 20 percent, an effort must be made to ensure that the vaccinations actually happened. The NFL learned, through happenstance, that three fake cards were tendered to the Buccaneers. Without receiver Antonio Brown allegedly stiffing his former live-in chef, no one would know about it. And Brown and safety Mike Edwards would continue to be masquerading as vaccinated. (The third player, John Franklin III, was released in August.) Where else have fake cards been used? With 31 other teams, it surely has happened. The league’s strategy for avoiding the elbow grease of checking cards has been to claim that the positive rates among those vaccinated at the facility and those vaccinated elsewhere are consistent. That’s not nearly good enough. The league doesn’t want to take the time. The league doesn’t want to spend the money. The league doesn’t want to know how deep the rabbit hole goes. With three in one team, how many are there? A hundred? More? And how many other vaccination cards raise obvious questions that were ignored when the cards were presented, such as why did Brown, Edwards, and Franklin get their vaccinations 80 miles away from Tampa? It’s possible, frankly, that the league fears learning that non-players were involved in hooking players up with fake vaccination cards. It’s also possible that non-players (like coaches and executives) used fake cards, too. (For them, there was no realistic option for being unvaccinated.) The more the league rubs that lamp, the greater the chance a pissed-off genie will fly out of it. And if the NFL were to find itself in a widespread scandal over fake vaccination cards, Congress would start sending letters, seeking documents, conducting hearings, and otherwise underscoring irresponsibility and corruption that otherwise will remain fully concealed as long as the league continues to find a way to justify doing nothing. Basically, expecting the league to pursue the issue of fake vaccination cards aggressively is akin to asking the fox to conduct a farm-wide hen census. The league gains nothing from determining the breadth of the problem, because the league ultimately caused it through a system of protocols that created a clear temptation to get fake cards and that did little if anything to prevent fake cards from being accepted. If the league truly cares about getting the current situation under control, it will forget about the potential consequences and commit itself to finding all fake vaccination cards, so that those players can be handled differently. The only other alternative at this point is to wipe out the distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated players, and subject all of them to the same protocols.

Since it's actually the Delta variant that is the major variant infecting and killing Americans as of now, yes it would help. In a matter of weeks possibly not so much. But still some.

Since it's actually the Delta variant that is the major variant infecting and killing Americans as of now, yes it would help. In a matter of weeks possibly not so much. But still some. So, given the fact that the NFL never envisioned the miserable efficacy of the vaccine, shouldn't they mandate the booster now? They built an entire paradigm on vaccination, with all restrictions and punitive policies placed on unvaccinated... while they awarded vaccinated with full privilege to carry on everyday normal life. Now we have an outbreak situation that will only get worse as the vaccine's efficacy continues to wane. Where do you go from here?

Not much you can do.
Play who you have and try to win.
I wish all this crap would go away. But this is what we have to live with.
This sure does not make this game any easier.

I'm really not the one to be asking. I think requiring boosters makes sense but even that doesn't prevent you from catching covid. It reduces your risk of getting covid however. What it certainly does is greatly reduce your odds of hospitalization and death from covid. Then there's the whole union situation. The NFL can't just magically wave a wand and make demands that way. Any such agreement would have to go through the players union. So I don't have an answer.

Vaccination standards have to be negotiated with the union. All other team personnel have to be boosted by the 27th of December.

This was the NFL's latest change in protocol surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday. Language at the end reads like maybe boosters have already been negotiated with the union... All Tier 1 and Tier 2 individuals, regardless of vaccination status, will be Mesa [rapid PCR] tested on Monday, Nov. 29, and Wednesday, Dec. 1. Under the current protocols, unvaccinated players must be tested every day and wait for their test results to come back negative before they are allowed to enter the building, while vaccinated players and staff are tested once a week and do not have to wait for their results before entering. For the week after Thanksgiving, vaccinated individuals will be tested on Monday and Wednesday. The memo also offers reminders about how testing procedures are expected to be conducted and about the requirements for mask-wearing for all members of the team traveling party while on buses or airplanes. Meanwhile, Sills said the NFL and NFLPA have launched a voluntary study of COVID-19 antibody levels among vaccinated players and staff to get a better idea of whether immunity is waning. The results could inform a booster shot protocol later in the season, but for now the league is telling clubs to follow state and local guidelines on booster shots.https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32653852/nfl-intensify-covid-19-protocols-thanksgiving-holiday

I don't really think the NFL cares much one way or the other. They are a corporate entity whose goal is to make money. The only way I could see that making a difference is if they favored larger market teams from big cities. That wouldn't explain teams like Green Bay and Pittsburgh always making the playoffs. If anything the Browns making it to the SB would probably be a cash cow for the NFL. Everyone loves a good underdawg story.

The Browns should petition the league to have the game rescheduled for Monday or Tuesday. That wouldn’t help much. A player has to have two days in a row with negative tests (highly unlikely) or ten days with no symptoms.

Falcons, Bears, Lions, Vikings and Football Team are also in "enhanced mitigation protocol". There may be some discussion, may as well initiate it.
