Defense won nothing this year, This is the Best Browns defense in 25 years and they aren't even going to make the playoffs.

The Idea that Defense wins championships is as old as; R.I.P.

A good defense helps a great deal; the Browns just didn't execute offensively when it mattered.

They didn't play it right. Had either one of those ticky tak calls not been made against KC they would have been left scoreless most likely sending the game to overtime. They were saved by penatlies.

I'll be pissed at this point if we go out and win the last two. All that will do is give us an over 500 BS record for a horrible season.

Might as well get the best draft position possible.

This is sound logic - whether or not they keep the pick based on potential veteran QB's that are available is another topic entirely.

Might as well have Baker get his surgery too.

Even if the Bengals had a penalty, they still would've been in FG range with timeouts to spare. How is running the clock down not playing it right? I'll agree with this though - they unnecessarily put Burrow in harm's way with the play calls they had.

As much as I wanted them to lose, I watched Burrow play in high school, and the kid is a winner. At least it is not the Rats or the Steelers. If somehow we sneak in, I'm all in, if not I hope Burrow wins a superbowl.

Maybe not, but he has a division championship and Baker doesn't.

I like Baker, but there isn't a sane football fan or coach in the country who wouldn't take Burrow over Baker.

That is not Burrough being better than Baker, and you know it. You decide those in heads up games. But Burrough is no joke, he's good.

you do realize him not beating baker means NOTHING, correct?

since 2018:

lamar jackson has 2 division titles
burrow in his 2nd year has a division title
big ben has a division title

baker has.....3rd place, 3rd place, 2nd place wildcard, and who knows if we end up in the basement again.

Burrow has beaten the teams baker cant seem to beat. lamar has beaten teams baker cant seem to beat.

if only baker can play the bengals 17 games a season. oh wait, it doesn't work like that, does it?

There aren't a lot of sound scenarios to replacing Baker next year. He'll likely be here.

Just be ready for another average to below average year, no division, no playoffs, average coaching, etc.

How often do we talk about winning culture? And we don't care if we lose the last 2 games against division rivals because of a crap shoot in the draft - in a year which is considered a bad draft? Nah - I think winning is still important.

If Seattle management is considering keeping Pete Carroll over Russell Wilson, you have to at least try to make a move. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Cousins gets cut from Minnesota because of his cap number that he won't restructure. That's a potential option for the Browns as well.

I disagree. As soon as you have no shot to win it all, it's pretty much pointless.

The last two games won't do anything to create a winning culture.

Back to back playoff seasons would have. A division title would have.

Beat Pittsburgh. I really don’t care about the bengals in the last game but I want to tar and feather the Steelers and Rothlesberger in his last game with us. I want him miserable.

And If I’m being totally honest I’ll be rooting for Cincinnati in the playoffs. I lived there for a couple of years and they’re nearly as historically snake bit as us. I hate them far less than Balt and Pitt. What a sad season this was.

How depressing is it when Cousins is an upgrade over Baker?

And Wilson makes me nervous. He's been pretty bad this year.

I will not follow this team if they make a play for Watson.

watson. i dunno if wilson would come here or not. at least with watson, you got him on a bargain contract for the next 4 years. he's probably gonna dodge charges BUT serve misconduct suspension, as he SHOULD.

be he's young and super talented. i dont really like cousins all like that, but in reality i doubt he wants to run it back with stefanski. he seems to be a bit better without stefanski.

ill take the QB who wins division titles.

you can have the qb who is really good on commercial breaks.

Sure, he will beat us sooner or later. And he's a good QB, I'm just not in the throw Baker away camp, or the undue pile on baker camp. Saying Burrough is better may also be true at some point, but he doesn't get that IMO without beating Baker heads up. Baker owns Cincy. Everything else might have gone to crap this season, but he still owned them… until next week, anyway.

I'll say this much - Wilson has NEVER had a solid pass protecting offensive line his entire career. He was at his best when he had a solid running game and an average offensive line with regards to pass protection. It might be worth the gamble depending on what the cost is. I know for a fact New Orleans would take him, and that was one of the teams on his list, so were one of the NY teams.

This is supposedly the scenario (posted earlier by Fate) :

Quote
There is a path to the 7th seed if the Bengals beat the Chiefs... and it's not even all that crazy...

Biggest upset we would need is the Broncos beat Chargers week 17. Sure there are other things that need to happen, but most of them are actually on the edge of "probable".

*Raiders would need to lose week 18 vs Chargers
*Dolphins would need to lose both games (@ Titans, vs Patriots)
*Ravens would need to lose one of final two (vs Rams, vs Steelers)

You forget 0-16 then.

It could be much MUCH worse.

We had a bad year, we were out of synch all year. There were tons of reasons, no one thing sunk this year in spite of what some people want to claim.

We need to keep fighting it out, regroup in the off season, get healthy and come back in with fire born of not getting there. Any coach that allows a team in this situation to just pack it in with two games left needs to go find a new job.

And no I am not saying it is time for a coaching change.

And if that is the same guy in the future, don't let me catch you watching. You should go root for the Bengals… Get you a Burrough jersey and a stuffed Joe B plush to cuddle with at night.

You know if you come at me, I will take ya to the paint. wink Happy cuddling bro.

That is the most asinine comment I've heard. As a fan, you should be hoping that they give their all to end with a winning record. Playing for a draft pick, only works if you are at the top of the draft. IMO, your hate for Baker is clouding your thinking.

You know if you come at me, I will take ya to the paint. wink Happy cuddling bro.

lol and here we go. you and mgh be on the same nonsense.

i want the TEAM to win. i root for players on the TEAM until they prove they aint got it. just like i bailed on Mingo before anybody else. i wanted baker to be the franchise just like everyone else. but its been 4 years already, and theres 2 QB's JUST in our division with more talent and skill than him. thats just a fact. baker cant even consistently beat an old ass big ben, which would make him 4th in division QB's.

i want the BROWNS to win. i just dont believe baker is that dude anymore.

What is it with kickers nowadays? Greg Zuerlein just missed his 6th FG of the year for Dallas. A couple years ago I thought he was up there with Justin Tucker.

There is literally no point to the rest of the season.

Might as well get the best draft position possible.

How often do we talk about winning culture? And we don't care if we lose the last 2 games against division rivals because of a crap shoot in the draft - in a year which is considered a bad draft? Nah - I think winning is still important.

A winning culture is established by closing out games like the ones against the Raiders, GB, KC, LAC and Pitt earlier in the year.

Winning a couple meaningless games when absolutely nothing is on the line and the division champs likely resting their starters in one of them is not creating a winning culture. That's lying to yourself believing that creates a winning culture.

The Browns puked all over themselves nearly every chance they had to create a winning culture this year.
