Baker has the yips and is broken. He has a crisis of confidence going on right now. At least 7 of the 9 sacks were on him.

Stefanski's use of the running game and Nick Chubb was being openly mocked by the broadcasters and many across social media.

Don't know what to even think about the off season or next year. There doesn't seem to be a lot to hang your hat on that things will improve.

Poor QB play, poor coaching.

They made Baker throw to the left the whole game. Given the injury to his left shoulder, he would stuggle with those throws. That plan seems like a bad idea.

I am upset that Tomlin didn't rest Harris during the game. Seriously, what was he thinking?

The Browns will likely finish the season with a 7-10 record. 1 more win than Freddie Kitchens with an extra game played.

The offense needs a total rework. We need a speedy receiver( what happened to #10) to stretch the field. Also, a RT is needed. Then once that is done, the offense cannot be called by Stefanski. Its Stefanski's schemes that are not working and dang sure not having a rookie RT on Watt.. And for Baker, if we can get RW, then see ya Baker, its been real!!

Again. We had one of the best rushing offenses. PFF says that we had three receivers open on 30something% of passing plays. It's the scheme!

Well when you leave your rookie RT on Watt and do not help him with a TE or have a back chip him on the way out = ITS THE SCHEME!!!
When you dont run the ball down PIT throat = ITS THE SCHEME.
When you are trying to have your busted up QB still play when he has a harness = ITS THE COACH!!

Should have had wills at RT, bitonio at LT and hance at G,. The offense needs scrapped, this heavy te offense just don’t work, you have to have balance and be able to push the ball downfield with receivers. This offensive scheme sucks. The nfl has passed this by

If we keep Baker then I'd be all for getting Mr. Biscuit as the backup. As the clear starter? No way.

Some games ago Baker was pissed because he was not throwing enough..

So what is it?

Some times Stefanski doe not trust Baker, other time he trusts in him too much... make up your mind...

- Stefanksi allowed Baker to puke on himself. This may have been his last game in a browns uniform.

- Hooper should be arrested for stealing money a la Holmgren style.

- Shame on Stefanski for showing his ass and allowing Baker to grind himself into the ground. We get it, Baker is bad. You may have lost respect of a good portion of the locker room. Culture.

- I'd be floored if that wasn't Baker's last game in a Browns uniform. They'll part ways "amicably."

- Basement in the division. Lots of questions will need to be answered.

So Aaron Rodgers just blasted stefanski.

There is 0 chance any qb better than baker in the nfl will willingly come to play in this offense

Unfortunately with the type of fans Baker has, it has to be done. Remember Tim Couch or Charlie Frye?

Its apparent Stefanski wants to move on from
Baker. But he has the most turnovers of
Any QB since being drafted. Why would
Stefanski want Baker to be his QB?

The Browns got dominated in the trenches
Hudson was left on island with no.help.
Watt was killing him.all night.

This team was very over rated in the preseason
I.wonder how many will predict the Browns to win
The North next year other than.Eotab?

How many other Pro Bowl level RBs have only 5 games where they broke 20 carries ...... especially when they gain 5.5 yards/rush?

I think Tim Couch Qb. is somewhat of a class act. I think Gerrard Warren was a class DL.

I never saw Tim Couch, or Gerrard Warren hug a steeler quarterback midfield after a loss, on national television, like it was a wedding, while wearing a Cleveland Browns "" "" Uniform!

especially a steeler qb who brought so much dismay to the organization and city they represent for so many years.

Our defense did about as well as possible … held up their end of the bargain for the latter part of the year

The offense is a trainwreck. The injuries ravaged us and changed our identity … add in the poor play of Hooper and the worst WR corp in the league and it’s not pretty.

In terms of Baker … certainly seems like the rift is too big to fix. Something’s rotten in Denmark. He’s gonna be gone.

"First down inside the 10. A score here likely puts us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. DPJ is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Hunt are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I shut the game off before the half.

I have seen enough football in my life to know when a team has players going through the motions.

It was a pathetic performance. Baker played like he was shell shocked. Landry was loafing.

In the short time I watched it was so obvious that Hudson was beong overwhelmed. I keep thinking why are you not prepared for this mismatch?

Why is there not a TE helping? Why throw when their defense is sad against the run and Watt is playing against air?

Oh well at his point I will be waiting for baseball in april.

Bonefish, I think it is a legit question as to why Hudson had no tight end support helping him out. But wondering why he was not ready is not. If I remember his story correctly he was the uc draftee who was switched to offensive tackle two years before he was drafted. He played defense before that. He was not drafted because he was a skilled o lineman ready to play at the nfl level. He was drafted because they saw the physical tools that could be developed into a good offensive lineman.

I am certain he was expected to sit and watch and learn for a couple of years, not be matched up against an elite pass rusher in a big game. They may have seen him as conklin’s replacement in a couple of years, but not now.

It is stunning to see what 12 months has done to our offense. It is hard for me to believe that our injured qb is not a big part of the drop off. But it has sure been sad to watch.

That game gave me flashbacks to Manziel’s first ever start against the Bengals.

I’m pretty damn beat up right now.” Baker said he’ll discuss with his agent/family whether he will play next Sunday vs. Cincy #Browns

"....with your agent and family?" Now there's a team player.

BM should have been yanked for the season after the first half of the Pats game. It was obvious he can't throw with that harness. Baker should have realized that he was hurting the team, and/or Stefanski should have had the balls sit him. The lame ass excuse that "the team Dr's cleared him to play only meant that his risk for further injury was minimized, not that he'd be able to perorm at a servicable level. I think we would have won a couple more games with our high paid backup. Mayfields stubbornness and horrible play, along with Stefanski's lack of a backbone destroyed this season. Their leadership has taken a huge hit.

Hooper cashed it in. Get rid of him.

Our line wasn't quite as bad as people were saying. Baker held the ball way too long and ran into sacks ala Colt McCoy. He was hesitating, it seemed like he was waiting for open receivers to run into coverage.

Contrary to what the gameday bawl babies say, I think our D has played admirably....given the situations they've been put in. Joe Woods is not the problem.

The steelers were so crappy that despite all this, we were in a position to take the lead in the 4th qtr.

I was actually kind of excited and looking forward to watching a football game. That pizz poor showing just sucked the life right out of me.

I had the same feeling watching our offense last night that I’ve had for the majority of 20+ years: pathetic. OL was horrible, excruciating QB play, no playmakers … no heart, penalties, etc

Shockingly bad. At every level.

I mean obviously Baker is the polarizing figure and gets the most attention. He played like poop. Period.

Stefanski called a horrible game. The cut of Peyton above asking why Chubb isn't in the game - he did that several times including the 2 minute drill to end the first half. He simply said "why isn't the best player for the Browns on the field?" ... he also said at ne point when the game was 7-0 or 10-0 ... "lets run the ball, run it run it run." Absolute insanity to be so pass happy against a team that [1] is bad against the run [2] Chubb was running for over 6 yards per carry [3] Your QB is playing like poop. [4] You have a swiss cheese left tackle going one on one against the best pass rusher in the NFL. . . . For all the Baker criticism that is richly deserved - Stefanski needs a double helping. That was simply Freddy-esque - and he looked like he was confused and out of his depth on the sidelines for the first time.

I do believe Stefanski wanted to ice the DPOY award and hand it to TJ last night. Job Done.

D came top play early. But time of possession probably killed us - at one point it was 5 minutes to 22 minutes or something close to that.

One more thing on the play calling - Eve mentioned it above, throwing everything to the left. Pretty sure Van Pelt stated 2 weeks ago that throwing it to that side with the harness on and Baker's injury was the harder side to throw to. wtf ?

Today certainly feels reminiscent of seasons past when the F.O and coaching and entire organization felt dysfunctional. It blows chunks.

Baker looked uncomfortable as he has for much of the season. IDK if it's the play of the OL or his WR's not getting open quick enough. He's just looked completely lost at times. I'm not sure what Stefanski is doing either by constantly putting us in a formation where we fail at (five wide empty sets) and by not running Chubb more. Bakers bread and butter were the boot legs and play action last year and it seems like we shifted away from that dramatically this year, especially the boot legs. Last night was hard to watch. Here are my other takeaways ....

#1 - Peoples-Jones can be a solid support receiver but he is not a #1
#2 - Landry is still an effective WR but his best days are behind him, also just a support receiver from here on out.
#3 - Hooper needs traded or cut. Slow and unreliable.
#4 - We need to prioritize signing another good backup swing tackle this off-season.
#5 - MD Stewart and Grant Delpit might be the best backup safety duo in the league, I really like both of them.
#6 - We desperately need to bring back Takk and Clowney. I think they did wonders for our pass rush this year when they were on the field together.

The obvious take away is that Baker likely needs to be replaced .... which breaks my heart a little bit to say.

Good point about Delpit and Stewart. I dont want them playing as much as last night, but they are good fill in guys

Hey Stefanski, how about some REAL accountability? Stop talking about it and SHOW us you are holding players AND coaches accountable for their actions on game day. That's what REAL leaders do. Get on it!

-Hooper is such a middling TE, with such a fat contract...For a TE heavy scheme, he surely is disappointing. I'm def. looking for him to get restructured deeply, or he's out imo. Was a poor signing, the only TE we have whom can stretch the seam is NJoku, and well he's a FA this offseason.

-This offense is so slow, once again our players always seem a step slower than opposing teams. DPJ is our fastest WR, and in the norm of todays offense...He would be more along the lines of average in terms of speed. I know Schwartz has that great timed speed, but I said it time and time in draft talk...That Schwartz was the WR I wanted no parts with in the draft. Higgins is an afterthought, no longer clutch and he'll be gone this offseason. Landry was never a burner, and the combined rib and knee injuries the past two seasons, seemed to sap that little bit of suddenness he once possessed. Hoop and Bryant are plodders, and Njoku is likely out...and he's the only one who can create that needed space.

-I was so disappointed in James Hudson at RT, was eaten alive all day...I thought for sure we'd have some to aid him in with chip blocks on that side...NOPE! Coaches left him on that island alone, and he continued to be eaten alive and the offense suffered severely because of that.

-Whole Oline looked overwhelmed at times, Baker not getting the ball out quickly, did not help. But Oline did not look the par either.

-I'm sure everyone's mentioned Baker, so I won't get too deep into it. How the hell has he gotten this horrible, I mean I always saw him as a Jon Kitna versus the Drew Brees many acclaimed him as....But he's failing even further, I'm praying this is all injury related...But the decision making obviously isn't, and he seems to be miserable in that facet.

-Special teams has been another factor in this team's collapse. Poor kicks, punts, and we are always backed up in our own territory...It's hard to move the ball into scoring position, when you have even further to go than the norm...I think our coverage on returns has been pretty good, but we are just not getting it done in the other facets.

-You have to move the ball forward to score, we're always moving back even further with dumb pre snap penalties, or just dumb penalties in general. Team seems to lack accountability anymore, where is the leadership within this team?

-Besides the Baltimore game, this team has regressed after the bye week. Coaching included imo

I’d say Hooper is not even an average TE right now. His play last night warranted a benching.

I also agree about the STs … our kicking game has been an issue all year and our return game has to be bottom of the barrel too

Good points - on this, I had forgotten how infuriating it was to see a delay of game penalty on a Punt. Unreal.

Why is there not a TE helping? Why throw when their defense is sad against the run and Watt is playing against air?

I also turned the game off in 2nd Qtr. I could sense the front office could care less if we won these last two games. The season was over for us on Sunday so by losing out and not putting Chubb
at much risk by less carries, the Browns can get a higher draft pick. Teams do this but will never admit it. Us fans hate it but its business.

Overall, we were willing participants in a Big Ben lovefest/send-off. What a joke we are.

So many times last night I'm sitting there wondering "what are we even trying to do?" We come out passing vs the worst rush defense and when we do run, we're featuring Johnson... who is also our passing RB all of a sudden. Oh, Chubb is injured and we don't want to aggravate... yet we're still trotting Garrett and our banged up secondary out there (not to mention Baker, who executed a QB sneak late in the game), and DPJ was still returning punts.... so are we saving guys from a meaningless game or not? Baker had a 0 QBR through most or all of the second half. He looked about as bad as he ever has, featuring throws to receivers feet and triple/quadruple clutching. We leave Hudson on an island vs Watt... AND NEVER ADJUST. What the f was that?

Our punter hurt himself punting (credit: Mike Polk Jr). Dude kicked the ground and limped off the field.

Landry let an easy catch slip through his fingers.

Hooper is a joke. I seriously hope we are somehow able to restructure him or let him go. Other than Baker he was the worst offensive player out there. He's earned himself 3rd TE status behind Njoku and Bryant.

D played tough. Newsome has had a fantastic rookie year, but he got bailed out a TON by the refs. The guy never looked for the ball once in all those PBUs. He was begging for a flag.

Clowney played with heart. So dumb to throw the shoe, but he was one of a very few Browns playing with any sort of intensity that I'm tempted to overlook the misconduct flag.

Speaking of flags, other than the most egregious no-flag ever on the obvious Watt taunt, I thought the refs let the players play for the most part. I also think they were giving us some help on some no-calls and DPIs later in the game.

Wasn't it pretty obvious that Chubb got put on ice because the game was meaningless?
No, it wasn't obvious. Stefanski has said numerous times in response to the "Where was Nick Chubb?" question that Chubb is not in most of the pass play packages because he's not the "pass catching back"... Well when we were passing on 80% of our plays, that means that BY DESIGN, Nick Chubb is not on the field.

Which begs the question... if your options are Chubb, Felton, and Johnson... how in the hell do you choose Johnson as your passing RB?

Perhaps someone who played football in high school or another level can tell me this. I've always learned that penalties are on coaching. I'm interested in the mentality behind committing a penalty... Is it a lapse in focus, judgment, a lax environment, knowing that if you commit said penalty that there won't be any consequences? Is it a disrespect for the head coach???

I remember when I had a particular manager at work once; the guy was level headed but was passionate, wasn't afraid to hold people's feet to the fire and when he did it was usually warranted. He was someone who commanded respect wherever he went. When he walked into the room it was different, people almost snapped to attention. He was someone you didn't want to disappoint and was like a father figure, good man. I just don't see any of these leadership qualities in Stefanski.

It’s not disrespect IMO, it’s just lack of focus. Now, maybe that needs to be coached better … but I dont think the guys are intentionally disrespecting the coach

There are 2 kinds of penalties.. there are the active kind where you get locked up with somebody and get called for holding or you are reaching out to make a tackle and get the facemask or hand fighting and get the PI. Those kinds of things happen when you are playing aggressive and trying to make a play for your team. They are, for lack of a better word, excusable, most of the time.

Then there is the other kind, the jumping offsides, lining up in the neutral zone, delay of game, hitting a guy 3 seconds late or 3 feet out of bounds, punching a guy after the play, ripping off the RBs shoe and throwing it.. those are purely mental and show a lack of focus and discipline. those are the ones that have to be fixed. I'm no expert in how to fix it but I believe it takes some combination of coaching and the veteran leadership on the team holding players accountable

He really is beat up,., I hate to pick on a guy that took the beating he did yesterday,,,, Geez,,, 9 Sacks....

But he should not have been playing yesterday,,, Probably not the week before either.

Chubb should have carried 30 times,,, Johnson another 10 or so times

Add to that we have one of the highest paid backup QBs, and one that's been in KS's system longer than the starter.

Again, I'll say... what are we even trying to do?

Oline play was bad, given injuries I can give some leeway, but this was worse than bad.

Receivers just don't have it, and I am not sure Mayfield trusts many of them unless they are wide open.

I don't think Mayfield trusts his own throwing ability right now, wanting larger windows to throw to, that you usually don't get in the NFL.

Chubb runs for a 30+ yard scamper, then stands on the sideline for the next couple series?

Landy is the only one I think Mayfield trusts, but he looks slow lately. Injuries still hampering him?

Hooper, big waste of money.

Njoku, only good at the high jumping catches, and jumps 6' into the air for every catch, even when it's thrown at his waist.

KS, what needs to be said, hand off calling duties and focus on the overall game. I don't think he understands what is happening sometimes because he's too focused on trying to figure out what to do on offense.

Time to check out for awhile. I am tired of talking about the Browns.

This season as been hard to swallow. Not in a million years did I think this years team would not be in the playoffs after the way they played in 2020.

So I am done with football for the time being. Maybe get into the draft in March sometime.

Burned out.

I don't believe Mayfield is as bad as he's looked at times this year. The injuries to him and his teammates, the Covid outbreak, mind-numbingly bad officiating, and some really questionable coaching decisions by the HC snowballed this seasons into a clusterbomb.

I don't believe Kevin Stefanski is as dumb and as stubborn as he has appeared to be this season. Not gonna do it; wouldn't be prudent.

Get this last game out of the way, and get ready for next season. Berry: fill the holes. Stefanski: figure it out. Mayfield: get healthy and watch game film. Its time to adjust, not tear down.

Did we solidify the 4th place schedule for next year? That would mean we’d play: Jax, Den, NYG

When we only run Chubb for an average of 12 times a game all year then that's where to lay the Blame. Baker was injured and not the only problem. If he's injured than you put him in the best position to win. I remember in Ben's early year's the Steelers ran and Ben threw the ball 10 times a game. We've never done that and it definitely needs to be done if you're playing an injured QB

I mostly agree with you. We just need this season to end (and this is coming from someone who paid top dollar for the Cinci game next week).

I think the team is in better position than it feels right now, but with big caveats.

Defense has more than rounded into form, and has a bunch of very young and VERY promising pieces... BUT Clowney is a FA and we need to find a replacement for Takk. Other FAs as well.

Offensive woes should mostly be fixed by getting everyone healthy... BUT we have a gaping hole at WR and TE that could only get worse (if you can imagine) by potential FA departures.

QB position is a dumpster fire inside a nightmare to end the year, but I'm confident KS and Berry have a plan and I think Baker can/will bounce back over the offseason... BUT the question remains, how much? The data continues to come in and the conclusion to keep Mayfield as the starter becomes harder and harder. We currently have nothing behind him other than an extremely well-paid backup that we refuse to put in.

I still trust Berry and the executive/overseer side of Stefanski... BUT there is little evidence (so far) that Stefanski the playcaller is going to be addressed. This is a critical improvement that needs to be made... arguably as critical or more than the QB position.

Don't we have to simply finish in the bottom half of the division for the easier matchups next year?

That only affects like three games, but yes.

The stuff about Chubb being injured, but reports saying there is no injury, and Stefanski's play-calling being a complete disaster: It sounds like Stefanski needs to go. Something's rotten in Denmark.
It also sounds like Stefanski schemed to give Ben his last game. It was a given that this is how this would shake out the moment Cinci won and we had nothing to play for.

I think Baker wants the Hell away from here. I don't blame him.
I think Stefanski isn't as good as we have thought. If nothing else, he has consistently demonstrated an inability to be flexible within a game and go with what is working, and he has never once simply "put a team away".

I turned that garbage off before halftime, right when Baker was picked the first time. By that time, I'd seen our coaches leave Hudson on an island against Watt enough times to know they had no intention of acknowledging how stupid that is, and it was clear that the coaches had no REAL intent to win this or put us in position to do well. We were hamstrung all night by our own leash-holders.

Kevin Stefanski and whoever is pulling his strings this season are THE biggest problems of the 2021 Cleveland Browns.

Sure, Baker has had a horrendous year - but it's up to the HEAD COACH to be the adult in the room and either bench him or find a way to protect him, and Stefanski has done neither.

What a waste of time this season has been.

I would love this! Then we would all know it's been Stefanski the ENTIRE time.

Watching the game was nauseating. There's so much blame to go around trying to pin it on any one person or player is pretty pointless. We have conflicting reports on whether Chubb was injured or not so until I hear a comment from Chubb, I'm not going to try and place blame. As of now to take one persons word over another is simply believing what you want to believe.

The OL was Swiss cheese. Putting Hudson out there on an island against Watt was moronic. When your RT looks more like a New York City subway turnstile thasn a RT, not trying to resolve that by giving him some help is unforgivable. Wills faired a little better but not by a large margin. On some of those sacks it is true that Baker just hung onto the ball forever. But it's no excuse for all the sacks that were squarely on the shoulders of our OT's. I've seen posters give our OT's a lot of grief when they really didn't play bad. But not this week. They deserve all the grief they're getting. What I think troubles me maybe as much or more was the interior OL. The unforced penalties and them playing below their normal performance I found quite troubling. The entire OL is not quite themselves. Wills certainly hasn't developed into the stud we hoped he would but it's not like he's been terrible despite the popular opinion of some. But he looked terrible last night.

Landry made some good grabs and DPJ made a couple of nice catches. I've said it before and I'll say it again. All teams deal with WR drops. But not as many as we had last night.

JOK made some plays as did Mitchell.

As far as the secondary is concerned, considering the injuries I really couldn't expect much more than what they gave.

Stefanski certainly played a part in this loss. Much more so if it's confirmed that Chubb wasn't injured.

There's plenty of blame to go around. I'm not even going to discuss Baker. There's obviously enough of that being done. And I don't think you can point the finger at him as the only reason we lost.

How many carries per game did chubb average on the year?

In his career, I can remember very few times when we’ve really ridden him

"First down inside the 10. A score here likely puts us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. DPJ is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Hunt are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Stefanski let the rapist get the last laugh. His horrible playcalling and ridiculous personal packages have helped sabotage this entire season. I have no more faith in him. He should be forced to give up playcalling. If he refuses, fire him ASAP

The secondary is such a complete flip from where they started the year. I know this will get lost in all the negativity, but the secondary played an unbelievable game considering how many they were missing.

Najee abusing our front was really the difference on that side of the ball, and that wasn't going to improve with how much we left the D out there.

Getting the Baker stuff out of the way... he was brutal. I'll throw it out there and say it was his worst game as a Brown, and the cherry on top of this turd of a season he turned in. He upgraded his double-clutching to triple and even quadruple clutching. His bad decision-making led to the first INT, and many missed plays. His inaccuracy explained the rest (so many passes to WRs feet). He got into a rhythm just in time for garbage time.

But a lot of the talking heads' ire was directed towards Stefanski, interesting enough. That really surprised me, and maybe Baker's suckitude just kinda spoke for itself on-screen, and they didn't feel the need to spend any airtime on something that was already so clear.

stefanski is staying.

oh and look, i was the main one defending Woods while all yall was calling for his head. now all of a sudden yall all on stefanski.

just stop it. it was made clear yesterday that stefanski has no confidence in baker mayfield leading this team to anything. does stefanski have some issues, absolutely 100%. but im now convinced he didnt play chubb because he values chubb for more than baker. he let baker be the gunslinger everybody wanted him to be, and look what happened. missing wide open guys, taking sacks, throwing picks, making horrible decisions.

so while all yall wanna blame stefanski and woods, imma blame the QB who was drafted to be the guy. baker mayfield is the 5th best QB in the division, because huntley for the ravens is better than him. an old ass big ben is better than him. lamar and burrow are WORLDS better than him.

baker since 2018 has lead the league in picks and batted passes, and that was BEFORE the injury this season. im so sick and tired of the injury excuses when the guy actively decides not to take the open 5-10 yard routes and instead throws it into double coverage. you think a guy with an injury would make it a priority to get the ball out of his hands FASTER. but nope, he holds on to the ball like someone trying to hold on to a wife who's about to leave them.

first it was obj. now its the receivers. now its the coaches. its everyones fault but the guy with the ball in his hand literally every snap.

should've drafted watson, and should've drafted lamar. but watch, some of you guys are once again gonna want some QB just because he hypes everyone up. yall wanted trubisky over watson. yall wanted darnold and baker over lamar.

wonder what other trash yall and this organization is gonna roll with.

I don’t think Stefanski is the problem that others do, but I do think he’s a problem. He’s gotta get better now that teams have him scouted

Both work. Belichick basically shows no emotion. Neither does Vic Fangio. Matt Vrabel shows a ton of emotion. So does Joe Judge and he's a fool.

Having Chubb on the sidelines most of the game, and multiple times in other games, shows me Stephanski is hard set in his philosophy of using only certain players in certain situations. This is a huge coaching flaw. Learning to use your best players when it matters most should be the priority. Chubb can, and has caught passes successfully and turned them into big gains. Feeling the need to have him off the field in passing situations is asinine. Protecting him from injury is one thing, but he still had him play some plays, so IMO, that excuse is bogus.

After the first Steeler game, any coach would realize that you need to help with Watt. The coach's refusal to this is nothing but shortsighted, and foolish.

The play calling while bad, was not the only problem. Pregame planning was non apparent. As this season progressed, it became apparent that the coach relies more on stats and analytics, more than actual game film. That is going to keep being a problem.

I am as disgusted as everybody else about how this whole season has turned out. A lot of it had to do with injuries and covid, but, IMO, the head coach hampered any chance we had by continuing to play a QB who could not perform at his best while having a capable back up available. His inability to recognize changes needed during the game, and a constant desire to do the opposite of what would be the best approach, severely put this team in bad situations. Multiple times playing teams who struggle with the run, he insisted on a pass happy gameplan. Also the opposite was true when playing teams that struggle against the pass, he insisted on running. I don't know if he thought he would fool them, or what his reasoning was, but it cost us many games this year.

His use of Chubb, hampered Chubb's ability to be as effective as he could be. It was more than apparent that when he came in, it was a run. Something has to give. The scheme is predictable, mostly, because, IMO, his packages of players told the defense what was coming.

As for Baker, I know he can play better than he has, but his decision making, and lack of ability to read a defense is apparent. IMO, he will never be a top of the board QB. His height is a big detrement mostly because of his delivery. His height also limits his ability to see the field, and I think this leads to him not seeing guys who are clearly open. He is a tough player, and a hard worker, but that is not enough

I don't know. To me it feels like the season is over so why risk an injury on a guy who you just extended and is clearly a piece for the future. I don't think Chubb was injured, I think it is what Stefanski said because he didn't want to say "We're out of it, so why risk blowing out his knee?"

But maybe an injury report will say otherwise.

Edit: Actually, an injury report may not. We might be sitting a bunch of guys or claiming injury because Sunday means nothing except for possibly getting a higher draft pick.

It wouldn't work in towns that don't have a lapdog media. People here think the Cleveland media is negative, but they are really mild - nearly sycophantic really - compared to their brethren in NY, Boston, Philly, and other cities.

Agreed comparing Cleveland media to those other markets. But disagree regarding his ability-- I'm guessing he would know how to say nothing in those markets as well.

Really sad to see this team turn into a bad team down the stretch. This team wasn't good enough. And by team, i mean everyone. Players, coaches, etc.

They flushed so many good chances this year to put themselves in a position where they wouldn't have to worry about what other teams were doing. They allowed the Raiders to steal that game. The Packers game had so many opportunities. Go back even further to week 1 against KC. The Charger game. The first steeler game. So many missed chances. This team could easily be playing backups this weekend and preparing for a home playoff game.

I don't really want to talk about last night's game. I was disgusted at the level of celebration they had for pittsburgh's quarterback. He's human garbage, and they should have kept that to a minimum. Instead we get a love fest. It's funny how they dance around some stuff, but when it's a pet team that they love, they will make exceptions.

I don't know what this organization is going to do about baker. On one hand, he wasn't good enough, and it held this team back. On the other, he played most of the year hurt. My feeling is, Baker is a tough guy, and I can appreciate that, but if this guy physically cannot hold up, and that doesn't mean just being available, but being good when you are banged up, then we have to move on. I love the guy, he took us out of a dark place. He brought so many fun memories these last few years, but he might be a point a to point b guy.

I don't think Aaron Rodgers or Russ Wilson are coming to town. We don't have the best situation for one of those guys, should they want to play elsewhere. That would be quite the leap of faith by either guy.

That leaves us with drafting someone, or signing a guy who isn't Rodgers or Wilson. It will be tough any way you look at it. This team has some pieces, but they need to get better at WR and TE. If they dont keep Clowney, I think they need another DE.

This year wasn't fun. I had fun last year watching these games. They just found a way to get a lead and close out games, and they did such a wonderful job of it. This year it seemed like they were always playing from behind.

I'd believe this if he did the same thing to any combo of Garrett, DPJ on returns, pieces of our secondary like Ward, Newsome, Tretter, Wu.

Belichick has been in Boston for 900 years and has said two notable things. Andy Reid was in Philadelphia for 400 years and said nothing. Joe Judge says anything in New York and gets eaten alive. Adam Gase has googly eyes and gets murdered.

Giving sound bites to the local press after a game is not wise.

Belichick and Reid have 527 wins between them and 11 SB appearances, of course they have more cred and get treated differently than Joe Judge. Point being, the Cleveland media affords Stefanski way more deference than his record justifies, IMO. They act like they're interviewing the Pope.

Man, I love the world we live in that everything is twisted and contorted with handcrafted headlines for extra clicks. Did Baker say anything about last night's game plan? "Publicly criticizing Stafanski's game-plan, lol, gmab. He was speaking about the frustration over the course of an entire season. He said nothing that wasn't 100% accurate and clear as a bell to anyone that has ever watched at least one game of football. This is a man's game. Big-boy pants required. If anything from those comments would lead a coach to "wanting a divorce", then the coach should probably go look for different work as well. Watch the tape!

Chubb should have carried 30 times,,, Johnson another 10 or so times
This year, Chubb averages less than 18 touches per game when Hunt is also playing. When Hunt has been out, Chubb's touches go up less than 1 touch per game.

Now I'm a proponent of looking for opportunities to limit him so he is fresher and healthier through the season and to prolong his career. I also believe D Johnson is a very capable RB... but how Stefanski goes into crunch time of games, or watches his team struggle to move the ball, and is so committed to his own plan that he leaves his best and most consistent offensive weapon on the bench will forever remain a mystery to me.

I'd believe that if this hadn't happened repeatedly throughout his tenure here where Chubb disappears for long stretches of games and never sees the field at crunch time.

yall need to stop making garbage up from your overly active imagination, like coach doesn’t have confidence that baker can lead this team or coach values Chubb more than he values baker. Just pure bologna. You do not know that nor does anyone else.

And yall may be tired of hearing about baker’s injuries, but it only takes about half a brain to see that the injuries + the harness has impacted his ability to make strong accurate throws. Not being able to make the throws he is used to making has resulting in hesitation and bad decision making. As a result his confidence is shot. He has always been a confident/cocky guy and suddenly being devoid of that has really impacted his play.

There is only one difference between baker this season and baker last season and that is the injuries. If yall Watch some of the games from last year and then watch the Steelers game. The difference is night and day. A healthy baker will be under center for the browns next year and yall will be eating crow till you puke.

Bengals still have a chance at #1 seed, why would they rest their starters?

It's the Cleveland way man. It's exactly like the British tabloids. Build a celebrity or sports star up - and bring them down hard any time with contrived controversy. It's bad enough sticking with how badly Baker has played and wondering what the hell is going on with the team, his play the coaching and play calling ... adding the manipulation and contrived BS is just too damn much.

Sure they could play their starters and possibly they will. My guess is they see there is a greater risk of injury to a key player than having the likelihood of the Titans losing to the Texans and the Chiefs losing to the Broncos pan out which would be necessary to happen to clinch the #1 seed.

Stefanski is dogmatic about his system and packages to a fault., and karma is gonna run over his dogma. Our TE's are nothing to rave about, but we will go 3-TE sets all day long and struggle to get them or the one WR the ball, but we'll have Chubb sit on the sideline. Defenses will stack the box, but we won't do much of anything to try to get them out of it... we'll just ride the same ol' same ol'. Pull Sweep Left. Run Right. Schwartz runs a circle around a TE. False start. Even when he does call something, then this offense fails to execute it. Coach and GM do nothing about the fact we don't have a RT; it's like they don't even notice.

It's a Greek Comedy.

Not getting the point of this

How does a league celebrating its 100th season only recognize the 53 most recent championships?

Just getting to the thread and have not read prior comments. Game was on my birthday and a good friend is a steelers fan with season tickets so I went to the game. Here are my thoughts:

1, great seats, great view.
2, dang, it was cold. Thankful they are club seats!
3, if any of you are interested in buying those tickets, PM next year when the schedule comes out.

Now for the game itself.

4, Baker got hit, a lot. He never had a clean pocket.

5, It is crazy how predictable the plays are. We break huddle, go to the line and at that point 95% of the time I can tell if it is going to be a pass play or a run. And the runs, were telegraphed as to whether they were going center to left or center to right. I could predict that about 80% of the time.

6, When we telegraphed that we were passing, Pittsburgh just tee'd off on the Baker.

7, I don't know what it looked like on tv, but the receivers were rarely open. I don't know if they are slow or don't run hard.

8, So many of the passing plays reminded me of the Pat Shurmur offense. A big complaint I had about the Shurmur offense was that 4-5 receivers would go out in routes, they would run them 7-10 yards turn around and just sort of malinger.

9. When we did send someone deep, they would be on the left side of the field but they had Baker role right. I saw the Wr wide open 40 yards down field, but Baker was rolling away from him being chased by steelers. No way could he have made that throw. I don't think Josh Allen has a strong enough arm to make that throw without stopping to set his feet, and clearly if Baker tried to stop and set his feet he would get drilled before releasing it.

10, Baker is short. It is not surprising that he gets so many passes knocked down.

11, There was a surprising large number of fans wearing orange at the game. Every Browns fan except one acted with respect and was treated with respect. I saw one guy wearing a shirt that said Pittsburgh started it. I thought that was inappropriate. Wear it to the home game? I guess I am fine with it but to wear to Heinz field? Not a fan of it. perhaps I am an old fuddy duddy.

So low that you can cry about someone not crying about something that you say they usually cry about.

100%... I don't think Baker should have started... he should have had surgery last week... sitting Chubb during the game didn't bother me that badly because I don't want him getting an injury in a reasonless game... personally I'd sit him, Garrett, and anyone else of substance next week...
