This guy has earned a chance to play. He was all over the field during pre-season. Now I see him flying and sticking people on special teams. Meanwhile, back on the farm we still play lead foot Willie at OLB. I am gald he was man enough to step up and admit he stunk it up against the Steelers.

A 255lb linebacker got punked by a QB. I don't question Willie's heart nor the player he once was. However, Romeo needs to move on. When you see this guys feet are glued to the turf it's time to go down the depth chart and give the next guy a chance to play. How can it hurt really? We can not change the scheme at this point. Why see what some other guys can do? Hey look at what DA has done when given the opportunity.

I think you are missing the point of having willie in the game. And while I do believe Chaun is a better athlete, he has been here for a while and has never been able to move anyone out of the way and start.

Willie's purpose is as a veteran leader, not as a playmaker. He needs to be there so this young defense can line up correctly, so they all know what thier responsibilities are on every play. He is there because he knew the system, not because he is a probowl LB. Brodney Pool is a better athlete than Brian Russell... who would you rather have at this point? Russell was a leader in the secondary, and Pool hasnt been able to step in and fill that role, even though he is a better athlete.

I say leave willie alone, this is probably his last year starting here anyway. The Defense needs him there.

We can only pray that his is his last year starting. I don't doubt the guys heart, or his skills. His body just won't respond to what his brain is telling it to do anymore. He got punked by a gangly 6'6" QB; made him look like Michael Vick. IMO, he is a liability, and not having him on the field couldn't possibly make our defense worse.....

I agree with ya, at this point I'd rather have Willie i postion to make a play than a guy totally out of postion with no chance to make a play, Willie to me is still trying to play with that recklass abandon he once had, he missed plays yesterday due to over committing himself, his natural speed is gone so he flys to the ball and once there cant break down to make a play, the off player steps aside and lets wille go bye,

I wouldnt mind signing Chaun to a short term deal, he hustles on special teams and can help in situations.

Chaun is probably the best athlete on the defensive side of the ball. Problem is that he's not a very good football player when in the defensive lineup.

He's carved out a niche as a special-teamer. I'm glad he did. Yet he's never been a guy that does much for us on defense.

He was another busted high pick by a franchise that struggled with taking the wrong players. If he's kept, it'll be for a minimum salary as a special teamer. Resigned as a guy to start? Not happening.

More than likely, he's a soon-to-be ex-Brown.

***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy.

I think he deserves more playing time, especially when it comes to 3rd and long, because he is more athletic.

Willie McGinest is best at stopping the run.. He reads offenses pretty well, but after that, his body is hitting the test of TIME. I'm glad we have him, but we need to find a permanent LOLB, just like we have Wimbley at ROLB. Peek is the first option, but he isn't fast enough to drop back and cover IMO.

PUT CHAUN IN THE GAME!

We are ranked 32 in defense. We need play makers. Andra Davis could lead the team as well as others. Willie rotates with Peek. He isn't even in the lineup all the time on defense. The issue is Willie is Romeo's guy. Chaun was not drafted by Romeo he is a left over from Davis. Yes he has carved out a spot as a special teamer. However, we need speed especially at OLB. We need a guy who can go sideline to sideline. Willie, Peek or Wimbley are not that type of player. We need a guy who is fast in persuit and get up go quickly. Chaun needs a chance. If he can not do the job so be it. Go back to what we were doing. All I am saying is give someone else a chance to prove what he can or can not do. Whether that guy is Thompson or someone else.

Thompson should be on the field, period!

Our best pass rusher in preseason and he sets on the bench...go figure?

Mac you've seen him for 4 years now..no need to get into the physical part..it's all mental for him..

He just isn't a force playing any of the backer positions..and he is slow to react to plays coming right at him..
He's good in pursuit but just like most of our front 7 , he is often out of position to make a play.

Him and David McMillan. They both are always preseason demons, but get no run

Chaun Thompson was a 2nd round draft pick and he started in his second year I believe. The only person never to beat anyone out is Andra, Andra is in because aparantly he is alone at his position whether inside or outside and all I'm saying is for players on the field Chaun Is more of a playmaker than Andra and the point is
Chaun Thompson has started before Willie Mcginnest was signed, and Mcginnest is not an upgrade just a sideways move and the problem wasn't there the problem was and is at Andra Davis' spot
Chaun can hit! Chaun brings it and you watch past film and you'll see it.

You could have just said he's better than Andra.

I like Willie, Willie has made some plays for us this year, but he has cost us some big plays this year too.

I don't what Chaun can do, because we haven't seen him much defensively..I believe he has earned some playing time due to his contributions on Special Teams.

But, when DQ is back to 100%, I wouldn't mind to start seeing Leon Williams getting some time in Willie's slot.

CT is too dumb maybe. Must be a reaason to remove him. Lights up specials. In on first 4 or 5 today (tackle on or near play). I like him. Must be sumpin' real wrong. Willie is playing better now than earlier. Think the HUDDLE needs him.
May the Elf be with us!

With three 2nd year LBs getting most of the playing time we need a veteran presence as their field captain. CT and AD are not the type of veteran presence I want around that growing talent. Willie needs to be out there as much as possible with AD and CT subbing in when needed. If I were to give CT a larger role than backup it would be in passing situations as a pass rusher.
