If Baker doesnt get the Browns to the SB.in 2022, then its safe to say he will be another
Failure and bust. He will always be a good but never great QB.

not with this FO they seem to say what they mean and mean what they say. Berry talks vague when a player is on the outs. Wilson and Landry come to mind. Otherwise, he says if they plan on keeping players on the team.

SB is too lofty to call him a bust... if the browns don't make the playoffs with Baker next year though I think he'll be gone...

Watching the combine qb class.

I don't get how Desmond Ridder is ranked fifth. He ran faster, Jumped higher, Jumped further than all the rest. He is over 6'3". And threw the ball really well.

He took a small school to the final four. Won a lot of games. Is considered a great leader. He was a senior. He is married and comes off as a mature young man.

If he is there when we pick in the second or third round. I have no problem taking a flyer on him.

Daniel Jeremiah does not have Ridder in his top 50. I think he is wrong.

He looked the best to me out there - by far.

I think he goes in the mid to late 1st. I could see him go to the Steelers, Saints, or the Lions (2nd pick).

It is weird to me.

I have seen all kind of third round grades on Ridder.

I mean Pickett throws a good ball. He seems accurate. But he had 35 fumbles at Pitt. He has 8.5" hands.

That is a problem in cold weather. I am 5'11" and I have 9.5" hands.

Ridder has 10" hands.

I would take Ridder, and Willis over Pickett. I have not seen Corral. I have watched Howell.

I would take Ridder second in this class.

I am curious where he falls.

Carson Strong! Like that guy regardless of shredded knee. Give me him in round two.

Can pass from the pocket unlike some miniature sized QBs. <smug face emoji>

I agree. He has the things you look for, but then he isn't rated all that high. I suppose there is a reason why. The "why" is the riddle teams need to crack.

Daniel Jeremiah is singing a different tune today.

He said that Ridder had a great day. Watch how he moves up the charts.

In addition everyone says he is a class act. A real leader.

A few weeks ago I was watching his tape. I could see that not all his throws were pin point in stride. But I loved how quick his feet were in setting up.

He can move and reset very fast. He has a nice smooth release. Kiper said his game against Alabama hurt him? Really? One game?

From what I saw I actually believe if he had better receivers he would have been better. I think he will transition well to the NFL.

Before the Combine I thought he would be there in the second. I am not so sure now.

If someone said pick a quarterback in this draft.

Forget where you pick him. Take a quarterback in this draft.

I would select Ridder. As it stands right now I believe he translates into the NFL best.

Malik Willis would be second because of his upside. He has a long way to go. He has all the physical tools but lacks experience in anything that resembles an NFL offense. Liberty ran a one read and go pass scheme.

Ridder knows how to play in the pocket. But he has very good physical tools as well. He is very althletic. His Combine numbers proved that.

He needs work on being consistent in his footwork. That will up his ball placement and accuracy.

I think he is an intriquing qb prospect.

so with wilson going to Denver, this had made the AFC even more difficult to break through.

AFC North:

Burrow
Lamar
<our guy Bake>
<unknown>

AFC East:

Allen
Jones
Tua
Z. Wilson

AFC South:

Tannehill
Lawrence
Wentz?
<houston, who knows>

West:

Mahomes
R. Wilson
Herbert
Carr

x factor:

Watson

________

let's be real here; there's 8 QB's in this division that are definitely better than Baker. at least 5 of those QB's have had less talent to work with than Baker.

does adding more talent and staying with Baker at least raises Baker up to being #6-7? does Watson instantly elevate our current roster better than Baker? if thats the going rate for Wilson, than we can easily afford to trade for Watson. Baker needs yet another year to prove to be our franchise QB, while Watson is already certified. plus, his contract is a massive bargain compared to what we will half to pay Baker. i've been very clear that Watson's actions were at minimum creepy as hell.

unfortunately, thats not illegal. and if this turns into a lawsuit and no criminal charges, then we have to think about winning first. now if Baker comes into the season 100% - which he should - then maybe we take the chance and really see if he can lead this team to at least the AFC title game, i'll take another divisional appearance.

But as of right now, Watson is healthy and Baker isn't. Baker is also going into his 3rd year in the same system, while Wason hasn't played, has legal issues and will be rusty early, if he's not suspended.

its tough, and i really want to ride with Baker, but with Wilson coming to the AFC and the bengals and ravens still ahead of us, no amount of talent will push us over the top if our QB can't elevate the squad when its time to.

i can only wonder what Berry and Stefanski are thinking behind the scenes. especially with the recent trade of Wilson going to denver, that's not a steep price. Watson is gonna be the same age as Baker (27) with far more credibility and talent than Baker, but Baker is already here and not in legal troubles. Watson is already signed to a multiyear contract, while Baker is gonna be due for a contract with lesser results.

wonder which direction we go.

jc..

Don't forget Watson was unhappy in Houston even though he had just signed a new contract in 2020, and basically was demanding a trade and refusing to play. That always worries me when a guy is willing to sit out to get what he wants, I don't want that drama looming in Cleveland. Not to mention I bet he will make a stink about a new contract now that everyone is making 40-50 mil.

Watson was upset because a failed youth pastor was/is running the Texans.

this is just the first thing i've watched so far. He has a cannon for sure! imma head to the draft threads. but in general....man that's another option Berry must be weighing for sure. But in order for that not to cause a QB controversy, we'd have to trade Baker first, right? or do we draft him and still let Baker start the season? to be really about winning, you draft him at 13. but depending on how FA goes...who knows?

I think our FO is watching next year's crop of QBs, and that will inform their decisions this off-season.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Got a feeling the Seabags will trade for Watson. They now have some draft capital to make that happen.

Reduce Keenum’s cap number or replace him with someone like Mariota or Bridgewater. Draft Willis. Trade Baker.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

You’d prefer to trade Baker now and then trade up to one to get Willis? Not a bad take.

Neither. Willis is not ready to start in the NFL. Even his biggest pimp on this board admits that. I would rather Baker get another year to play healthy and make it to the playoffs or further like we did in 2020 than be stupid and dump him based on a year with an injured shoulder. But then you have those knee jerk people.

I wish this topic did not occupy as much of my mind as it does.

You try to plan ahead but really you can not. Baker is our guy for 2022. That is where it stands. Until this season plays out IMO everything is in limbo.

Yes we could bring in a replacement for Keenum. Not a big deal. That person becomes a backup.

We could draft a guy. I would not use pick 13 or any pick in the first round on a quarterback. That is the way I see it. I would rather get a pass rusher or a receiver.

I believe our defense could be special if we build it. That maybe the ticket to actually doing something in post season. A truly dominate defense with a great running game and an average passing attack could win a Super Bowl. When I say dominate I mean a pass rush to fear and a team that gets turnovers because of defensive excellence.

We may think we know Baker and what he will do. But I don't think we do know. I don't think Baker knows. We have to see the results. Speculation is useless.

If I were Berry. I would give Desmond Ridder a good look. If they like him. I think he should be considered in the seocnd round. If not build the team as best you can.

Next year waits till the results of 2022 are in the books.

That advocate cashing in our chips to draft someone shorter than Baker Mayfield.

I am not sure what anyone’s height has to do with anything but he’s only a half inch shorter.
