Well, this isn’t a terrible move IMO

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

The draft picks given up are insignificant. The contract is rather high.

The contract is large.... But Amari for 20mil is better than Jarvis for 15 mil.

Also gives us a ton more flexibility in the draft.

Also... Wasn't one of the off season principles to take advantage of others weakness or desperation?? Well Zeke's contract makes the Cowboys weak. That's a lot of talent in its prime for a 5th round pick.

And the length on the contract allows for some restructuring if necessary. I don't know where the picks might be, but a 5th and say half a 6h is nothing.

We swap 6ths, give up a 5th, and take on $20M.

Yep...and might change the whole view of who we take in the 1st round considering the depth at the position. We can add 1-2 more receivers from the 2nd round down.

The good news is we can go into the draft without such a big need at WR

Excellent!

There you go Baker, you have a top weapon.

or

Hi Mr. Watson, we have a #1 receiver, an untapped potential TE, a possession TE, a top 3 RB, and an excellent offensive line waiting for you.

Now let's see what major moves the Browns make since Cooper's contract currently leaves the Browns $3,074,885 over the cap.

I thought we had 10 million in rollover.

one thing is certain... we are not interested in Watson or his 40 million cap hit

Yeah, I think this seals it. Especially when the draft is ripe with young WR talent. I guess a restructure is still a possibility but I don't see them running $30M for two WRs again.

the next 2 days the Browns have to free up some massive cap somewhere. Still no DE, Missing 2 DT's, and an open LB spot - plus 1 of 2 WR's.

Yep, we traded Landry for Cooper for five million and some low draft picks. God knows I don't like taking on the long term contract that pays him 22 mil. for the next three years but for this coming season the cost is nothing more than trading a couple of low draft picks and five mil. to trade Landry for Cooper. Of course if we don't get huge numbers out of Cooper fans will be all over the back of the FO for making a stupid move. You know how opinions vary depending on the direction the wind is blowing.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

And the broken record plays again. After Landy's cut we will only have spent 5 mil. for Cooper.

I guess. I am confident we had all of that figured out before they pulled the trigger on the trade.

Out FO may have some problems, but I don't think that prior planning is one of them.

Call it what you may - the Browns are more than 3M over the cap and have not made any of those moves yet to free up cap. It's not only what you pay Cooper but what you have left to address the other areas of concern on the team. 12M left after cutting Landry is not going to pay for your draft picks and other FA's so something else has to give.
