Anyone here have it yet?
I just got it Monday evening, finished the single player by midday Tuesday. Not all that indepth, but quite engrossing and some really fun missions.
The graphics are superb, but in keeping with CoD tradition, the audio for the weapons is cheesy.
The online play is pretty good as well, and the more you play (and the better you do) the more 'XP' you earn. With more XP you go up in rank and as you do you unlock different "perks", such as Martydom where you drop a live grenade everytime you are killed (great fun for when you get whacked at close range, you take them with ya, hehe).

heh, no... not yet. I have proudly had my butt handed to me in multiplayer by *THE* Fatal1ty though (and even managed to kill him a few times).... so I got that going for me For anyone that doesn't know who Fatal1ty is, he is pretty much the original Professional Gamer and even has his own line of hardware from various manufacturers for custom controllers and motherboards and stuff.

Veteran sure is a challenge... I have the first three missions of Act 3 to complete to finish the game. No Fighting in the War Room will be a pain! Glad you're enjoying the game.

See that thing on the wall that looks like a TV with some nature channel on? That's a window, and on the other side is the outside world, check it out.
You played it in 1/2 a day? Either it's a real short 1 player scenario, or you just have WAY too much free time.

I'm stuck in Russia back in the 70s or whatever, that SAS sniper mission. I'm at the extraction point, but I can't seem to survive the onslaught. I'm also playing on Veteran, which I think is the 2nd hardest setting.

I hid behind the bumper-cart area, it's impossible to do the mission like intended. Just threw back the grenades, and covered the only entrance.

Its a great game. A cross between Soccom and Medal of Honor. It gives me motion sickness though. I threw up twice the first time i played it. A fun enough game to keep playing after throwing up once

I play this game way too much on multiplayer (FamedSmurf). I'm about to start my second prestige mode here in the next 2-3 days.
I tried out Mile Hile Club on Veteran last night...wow that is brutal :/

How is the multiplayer game on this. Now, when I say multiplayer, I mean like when I would play it with my friends at my house, no internet involved. The multiplayer is one of the most important things for me in a shooting game. I have Medal of Honor Rising Sun for PS2 and I really like its multiplayer, but I am getting a PS3 and want a shooting game for it.

I'm sure it would be OKAY, but the internet multiplayer is really what makes this game good IMO.
I would check out Army of Two for some hopefully awesome co-op multiplayer. I believe it's coming out first quarter 2008.

Ok, for those of you who don't know I am 14. I want this game, but my mom read something that says that it is too gory and that no one under the age of 17 should be playing it, hence the Mature rating. Do any of you feel this is too bad for a 14 year old? I know my dad wouldn't care, since I watch all types of war movies with him, but my mom doesn't really like this type of stuff. Why is this rated Mature?

Language is probably a biggie. Lotta F-bombs if my memory serves me correctly. Add in the "realistic" violence and what not and that's probably the main reasons.

Sorry bud, I have to agree with your mom. This isn't really for kids. And don't be mad at your mom she is doing what she feels is best for you. If a developer makes a game and it gets rated M, then you need to write the developer and tell them they are losing out on your money because you are too young for it.

This is going to be the next game I play after HL2: Episode 2. Then it's Bioshock, Gears of War, Crysis, and maybe STALKER and Riddick if I get around to them. I temporarily got out of PC gaming 6 months ago so I'm a little behind.

I bought Crysis like 2 weeks ago on the off chance that I could run it... no dice Processor & memory are rocking, but my video card is an aged GeForce 6800 Ultra. I might break down and buy myself a new video card for x-mas, but it's not likely to happen until January. I'll be looking at a shiny new GeForce 8800 GT.

That's what I just got but I'm not going to play Crysis until GeForce 9 series comes out early next year. My single 8800GT is not enough to play it with high quality settings. I figure the other games on my list will keep me busy until then.

seriously???? I woulda thought it could handle it. I'm pretty certain a GTX can handle it... and the GTX is NOT that much better than a GT.
Also, grab yourself the latest nVidia driver and nTune.... you should be able to overclock the GT *SAFELY* to where it out-performs the GTX... .on standard air cooling.
The reference clocks for the 8800 GT are 600MHz core, 900MHz memory and the shader core has a reference clock of 1.5GHz
The manufacturer Zotac is using 700/1000/1700 respectively. With it, their card beats a GTX. Now, granted they are using quality DRAM rated up to 1GHz, but you should at the very least be able to pull off 650/950/1600 without a problem.

I have the 3.0ghz P4 2g RAM 7800 GT and tried Crysis... I was really disappointed with the graphics. I'll just hang onto it until I upgrade my rig. COD4 looked and played awesome, so I thought it'd be ok (I'm not really that big of a graphics nut). But the quality for me was a big let down. I knew I couldn't play it in its full glory, but I thought it'd look atleast as good as some of the other recent games I played.
COD4, btw, was real fun. It's like playing an action movie. Short, but very engrossing and intense. I didn't enjoy it overall as much as, say, Bioshock, but it was great nonethelesss.

I sold my X1900XT six months ago and was holding off for GeForce 9, but it never came. So now I'm 6 months behind in PC gaming and NVIDIA is still milking the 8 series for all it's worth. When you think about things in these terms, seeing a GT surpass a year-old GTX in performance is not that impressive. So, I'm sure people are turning down the appropriate settings and playing Crysis, but I want to play it with high quality settings. I think it's worth waiting a few months to play it properly. This card will chew through everything else in my list. Heck, I don't even have Vista yet so it's not like I could run it in DX10 mode anyway.

I use RivaTuner and I'm running my eVGA Superclocked at 700/1700/1000. I've also locked the fan speed at 49%, which is optimal according this review. I think the core will go higher but I don't think I'll bother.

Well, I'm still in line for this deal but I doubt it will come. I ended up buying a slightly used eVGA Superclocked for $250 shipped. eVGA is offering a free copy of Quake Wars with this card, so the original buyer is going to pass it on to me when it arrives.

well, I coulda have sworn I'd seen a video of Crysis on a single GTX at high quality running perfectly fine..that's what I was referring to.... and with where your settings are, you should be outperforming a stock GTX. That's one heckuva deal... even teh Superclocked for $250 is a heckuva deal. Most places are out of stock and are still listing prices around $300. I saw a PNY card a few days ago for about $240, straight up reference design but I have no idea what memory they used so I dunno if it could be overclocked at all... even if not, it's should still be a nice card. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/produ...mp;sku=A1350995 Dell is selling this XFX for a pretty decent price as well.

You are pretty much hosed.
No vertex shaders and no hardware T&L. I would bet that you have an embedded Intel graphics chip in the laptop instead of an nVidia or ATI chip. Basically the difference is that you have video good enough to run the laptop, probably watch some movies and do other lightweight video stuff, but not play any really high-end games. You might be able to play some other less demanding games, but none of the newer stuff.

Since I'm done with my finals now, I should have a chance to get it sometime.

This is from the new G92 8800GTS review at AnandTech: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3175&p=9Honestly, despite the great value from cards like the 8800 GT and the Radeon HD 3800 series, there's still a need for even higher performance GPUs. If you looked at our bar graphs, there are some games where we're still forced to run at Medium Quality settings. Titles like World in Conflict and Crysis simply can't be run at high resolution with full detail settings on even the 8800 GTS 512, at least at reasonable frame rates. We regularly see this seesaw between software and hardware in the 3D gaming space; sometimes our hardware outpaces the software, and other times the software is far ahead of the hardware. Thanks a lot NVIDIA......

there's the hitch.... at high resolution
I think the video I referenced was running 1024x768 ..maybe 1280x1024. I've seen lots of people say that they play at full detail, just noone ever says at what resolution they are doing that.
Yes, to do so at the really extreme resolutions like 1600x1280 and higher, definitely better hardware is needed.
For me though, my monitor only supports 1440x900, so a single GT should be fine for me.... at worst, two in SLI should be ableto get me HD resolution for my TV (52" Crysis ::drools::)

I get big time choppiness in the larger servers, it's ok in servers with not many players. But I like to play on the big servers, and I have to play on a very low screen resolution (too embarrassing to mention) My video card is 3 years old obviously it needs upgraded, my system meets the other requirments so I figure this should solve the issue. Anyone have any suggestions on a decently priced good brand that will give me bang for the buck? Thanks in advance.

There are two possibilities: Internet connection and video card. Internet: make sure you don't have any downloads running and that noone else in the house is surfing the net.... that may not always make a difference though as you may be subject to line quality issues. Video card: We'd need to know what card you currently have, what bus it uses (AGP or PCI-E) and what your budget is. The best quick reference I've seen for helping make sense of it is here: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/12/03/best_graphics_card/ The table listed at the back is great... it puts where your current video stacks agains the jumbled mass of others into perspective a bit.

Thanks for the response.
Currently using a Radeon X300 - PCI bus.
And I'm looking to spend around 100 to 125$.
