As much as I love Landry I would chose Clowney, he and Garrett together are lethal ...

I would opt for Derek Barnett and Akiem Hicks and draft 1 of: Pickens, Watson, Moore.

Barnett re-signed with the Eagles.

Pickens, Watson, and Moore could all go before we're on the clock.

I'd go Clowney. Edge defenders of his caliber are much rarer than wide receivers. Juice was good for us, but power ages more gracefully than quickness. Plus it's much harder to compensate for a bad DE than it is for a "bad" receiver. An offense can attack a bad DE. A defense attacking a bad receiver isn't really a thing to worry about.

Unfortunately Barnett resigned with the Eagles for two years.

It hurts a little to say that, but yes.

Clowney because i think that is a weaker position for us and I keep hearing Watson is so good he doesn't need great receivers, average ones he makes better.

My heart wants Jarvis...He is exactly the kind of person you want on your team.
Defensive line is hurting more than WR...so I do have to choose against my heart.

At this point in their careers Clowney is still elite - Jarvis is not. We can all love juice and the intangibles, but having an elite DE opposite MG and the impact that brings is more important.

Clowney is a no brainer

I don't see why we can't have both. But to play along, I would hope that we keep Juice. He brings more to the team than Clowney. I think the latter is a great physical specimen and flashes on plays, but I think he is overrated. I don't think he really cares about winning or his teammates. I think he is a hired gun. I want guys who add to the culture of the team and can ball. Landry does both. Clowney provides one of those two assets.

What about if you could have Landry or OBJ

I want BOTH...but is this some game or is there a realistic reason why both is not possible???

If a game my choice like almost all. CLOWNEY

Don't forget the variables of rare talent for a team to acquire... in order
1. QB
2. LT
3. Edge rusher possibly 2 now a days
4. Cover Corner 2 needed.

WR a stud WR or in this day and age a TE like Kelce and Andrews but this talent is not as rare as the 4 listed above.

So an aging Juice does not apply to the description above.

jmho listening to the press conference of Watson.

i think the question was posed because right now we can only sign one because of Bake's contract.

i'd love for us to have both. while clowney is priority from a position standpoint, having landry back would seriously amp this team up, and talk about a security blanket for watson. i'd love nothing more than a ticked off Landry making tough catches on 3rd down all season.

I don't think Watson's contract is that cap damaging this year. Baker, well you know we will be getting rid of him sometime this year. As usual teams know this and will try to make us suffer. Berry seems steadfast on not moving him cause teams want us to eat most of the contract might as well eat it here. We will get our 2nd round pick and yeah probably eat some of the contract but not as much as teams will want. We will not release him so the Steelers can sign him...we better not.

I will stop cause its not the thread. I think its just a game to pass the time as we no longer have draft conversations to build our team.

So in the spirit of the thread. "CLOWNEY"

While looking at if from the standpoint of who gives us the best chance to get to the playoffs.....I don't think it's quite the landslide that's indicated here. After Cooper, our WR cupboard is bare. DPJ is still a question mark, Schwartz has shown nothing. Felton and Grant are also big question marks and aren't expected to be major contributors. The way Landry can fire up the team and the crowd is something that shouldn't be overlooked. I love what Clowney brings too. I hope we can sign both.

We should be fine to sign both, if we want to.

We have $22 million in top 51 cap space. Our draft requirements wil be lower as we have traded away #1 and #4 this year. Yes, we have a 2, 2 3's, and a 4, 6, and 7, however, the cap impact of these picks will be greatly reduced because of the ones we traded away.

I do think that we will eventually be able to trade Mayfield, but it wil either be as a result of a redone contract, or us eating some $$ to make the trade. I really don't see any way we just dump him and eat the $18 million guarantee.

Like I said I love the Juice.

However, at this point I don't know where he is physically. Last season he was hurt.

Hard to say if he is a diminished player? When he did play last season he sure looked slow. I remember one play in particular Jarvis brook deep and threw up his hand for the ball. The db closed up on him and was covered like glue. He did not look like the player he was.

So I don't wear he is? I do know he is a smart player will always find space in zones. He can still get some separation on certain routes. His biggest contribution is what he brings to the team as a leader.

Clowney played well for us last year. He was very disruptive. I liked his effort on plays. He is excellent at coming down the line on backend tackles.
He still has his quickness.

Given our roster. We have added Cooper. I believe we can still get a guy like Will Fuller who will not cost much and has experience with DW.

We no longer have a first round pick. We can get recievers in the second and third.

Pass rushers will get drafted in the first round.

So I would make signing Clowney a priority over Jarvis.

$20M/yr for Landry absolutely does not make sense and hopefully his agent didn't tell him he could get that on the open market. If so, I can see why Landry dumped him when the offers weren't coming in.

As for the Browns, it was reported that Landry wanted additional years added on a restructured deal and the Browns weren't willing to add years to his deal.

20 M per year? I’d guess he’ll get 10-12

That's being very generous, IMO. Especially after FA has gone on for a few weeks. But hey, one team already overpaid for him once before.....it could happen again.

I think it's bargain hunting time. Jarvis might have to settle for a contract like Juju got from KC. 1 year, $3.25M but with escalators that could get it up around $10M. That's not necessarily his worth, but at this point in the FA process it might be all he gets.
