Let's see...the government is in control over what a company can charge and pay workers...sounds communist to me.

For that matter, dictating what a company has to pay workers is communist when you think about it..

Another Q-A-Holic heard from.

I suppose you think that Biden has control over inflation and gas prices in all the other countries....

you can freeze wages. you can't freeze the price of something that we have to purchase on the global market.

We could, but business would quit selling that item.

We were better able to do that in 1972 or whenever it was because we had more control over production. We still produced things back then.

I don't want the government involved in anything. Whatever they touch or have too much control over usually turns into garbage.

The mess we're in right now, I'd say 70% of it is due to high inflation as a result of wreckless government spending. The other 30% is still due to covid after effects. The current Biden administration is prolonging the first issue.

A lot of variable rate mortgages will increase too when the fed starts raising rates. Fun times watching the rich and corps wring every cent of pandemic cash out of the economy. Time to get back to normal where they have it all and the rest of us get to fight over crumbs.

I think it is the left trying to wring the money out of all but the super rich. Look at Russia if you want an example. You have the super rich who are the favored class of the political brass, then you have the rest.

The left isn't trying to raise the lowest in this country. They have been saying they want that for decades and it hasn't done any good. The goal is to bring all the other down to the lowest level.

As they do that, they can say the wage gap is narrowing due to their policies.

Recently we saw a big call for a "living wage". Well, here we are a few months later and those recent wage gains have been sucked up. I told you it wasn't going to work.

You just don't get it.

Yes, every once in a while I wake at 2AM and that's that. I've typed out all i feel like for now, so maybe go play a few rounds of golf on 2K21.

you literally just described what this country is turning into thanks to deregulation and lowering taxes.

i mean damn bro, you can't be that unaware that you just described our country right now while trying to blame the left. last time i checked, the free market - ya know, THE RICH - has lobbied and corrupted government so effectively that simply raising taxes in the SAME tax structure is somehow considered socialism. the rich were the ones who outsourced our jobs. the rich are the ones who decided to fire everyday americans in ship those jobs to china. the rich are the ones who whined about paying too much in taxes, despite the fact that they already pay jack crap to begin with.

the rich has created a system where we privatize the profits, and socialize the losses. the rich while brag about profits and lowering taxes and dodging regulations and call everybody takers and leechers, but then the moment something like the pandemic happens, or a recession happens, those SAME RICH LOSERS all of sudden need the government to bail them out. all of a sudden we're in this together, and they need money from the government so they can "save" our jobs.

and then when things get back to normal, those same people get labeled takers and leechers and lazy by the wealthy. the answer to every crisis is to lower taxes and deregulate, or what you guys love calling fiscal conservatism or - lmfao - "pro growth policies."

hey, i know that we already dont pay anything in taxes and we already dodge regulations, but you know what would help this country right now? if you give us a bigger tax cut and deregulate! then we'll REALLY have some table scraps left over to MAYBE toss to the peons in the middle/lower class.

MAYBE. and if not, we'll do it next time. we promise.

nobody plays the victim better than the american elite.

"omg, we HAD to raise our prices! why? well....i mean...people we're making more! well..yea that didnt mean we HAD to raise prices, but since people made more, we charged them more!"

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

the house passed a bill yesterday 223-193 to cap insured consumers monthly insulin cost at $35 dollars per month.

12 republicans voted for it-193 voted against it.

it also may not have enough votes to pass the senate.

And not by any means a perfect bill-it moves the cost to the insurance companies and does not put any restraint on drugmakers.
there is a co-sponsored bill in the senate that is trying to address drugmakers setting the cost of medicine.

You act like all the people leading the Dems are on food stamps. Trust me, they aren't.

I saw where AOC was clubbed by many on the left for attending the Met Gala rather than going to a union rally.

Good for her. At least she has the sense to go where she can do the most good.

Hard to argue with any of that, bro.

I think you're equating 'Peen describing the left's narrative to blaming the left though. I didn't necessarily read it that way. He tipped the cap to the corrupt structure of the super-rich and then handed out a "told you so" that points to the truth... and he did say it all along... those wage gains will quickly get sucked up.

I gotta be honest, my view of what is going on right now is a whole lot of wtf and even more f#$% it!

Every business and industry is seeing the cost of doing business rise at an alarming rate.

Here's your cheeseburger at a mom and pop's...

Cattle slaughtered and sold at much higher rate because feed has gone up tremendously, one of the three to four monopolies that pack beef then sell the primal cuts to a distributor. This particular one cuts steaks, grinds beef, etc... he applies his increased costs; labor, packaging supplies, fuel... and an a$$hole tax (like everybody along the way is doing). He sells to a regional distributor that then sells to US Foods, that then sells to Maw and Paw, that then gets raped by grub hub for 30% because covid has everybody laying on the couch ordering food on their super-phones.

Maw and Paw says "screw this, burgers are $18!!"

I think that's our current economy in a nutshell. Monopolies at the top (that could afford to absorb some costs but refuse) a whole lotta pain and a$$hole tax on the way down, because they can! Still, at the end of the day, the person selling the $18 cheeseburger is not really any better off.

Just to add, the bill was to cap what Insurers could make you pay out of pocket, it did nothing to stop the maker from charging whatever it wanted to the insurer. And in the end most likely will lead to our insurance premiums rising to cover the costs.

It is what it is. I guess as long as I get my 6-7 hours of sleep which has been pretty normal for me as an adult, I suppose the day part in which I get it doesn't really matter. Plus, being retired I can catch 45 minutes of ZZ's at 2PM while watching some program about the world's great conquerors on the History Channel.

While big wig pharma, insurance, and bank execs will still take multi-million dollar bonuses and report record profits. I just don't see how either side is ok with any part of that when it comes to peoples health. I'm fine with capitalism and am certainly not a hardcore socialist, but I wish someone could lead an actual movement for free healthcare that most people could get behind. Be the expert, lay it out there for everyone to see, and have it be so unanimously accepted that during the next round of elections every candidate could just ignore healthcare reform in all debates because it wasn't already being handled.

But it feels like we're just in a spot that those big companies would probably collapse and in doing so collapse the world economy. There's probably a way to avoid that and I hope someone can lead the charge that isn't necessarily a politician running for office.

"the rich has created a system where we privatize the profits, and socialize the losses"

Swish said this earlier and I think it rings incredibly true and think most people agree. It just sort of sucks to be in the middle of it all.

To help you follow the bouncing ball the subject was how big government spending leads to inflation. Which it does. But you never bring that topic up until that cumulative effect actually hits. I've never seen you mention it when Republicans are the one's doing the big spending by warning that will lead to inflation. It's not that difficult of a concept to understand.
