Republicans are looking to make several Red States even redder in 2022.
Three Democrat-held strongholds in Texas are in danger of turning to Republicans.
Two of the seats are held by U.S. Reps. Henry Cuellar of Laredo and Vicente Gonzalez of McAllen. The third one was vacated by Filemon Vela of Brownsville.

Fending off the Republican advance in South Texas this fall was already going to be a taller-than-usual order for Democrats. But few Democrats anticipated it would be this hard.
Thanks to a succession of self-inflicted choices, fallout from redistricting and some flat bizarre circumstances, Democrats are confronting a mind-numbing set of complications in their fight to hold on to three seats in South Texas. And national polling indicates Democrats have no room for error if they want to hold off a Republican challenge in a region that was once a historical Democratic stronghold.
For Democrats, there may simply be too many fires to put out at once,” national political analyst David Wasserman, of the Cook Political Report, said to The Texas Tribune.
Texas is not the only place Democrats will have a problem with in 2022.
Recent polling shows Republicans leading the generic congressional ballot by 8 points. This means the red wave will be felt by Democrats all across the country — unless they steal it.

The 2020 midterm elections are now 207 days away, and Republicans have an 8-point lead in their bid to recapture control of Congress.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if the elections for Congress were held today, 47% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Republican candidate, while 39% would vote for the Democrat. Just five percent (5%) would vote for some other candidate, but another nine percent (9%) are not sure.

Joe Biden’s approval numbers have evaporated in the course of just a year.
Yet as low as he is in the polls now, he could still drop lower.
If inflation keeps rising and the situation at the border continues to worsen, so will Biden’s polls.
Byron York of the Washington Examiner spoke to some seasoned pollsters and they offered no good news for Biden.

I asked three sharp Republican pollsters and political consultants: David Winston, Curt Anderson, and Dave Carney. The takeaway from all three is that it appears the majority coalition that elected Biden has fallen apart. And that is terrible news for both the president and his party.
“While there are a lot of groups that have become more disapproving of Biden’s job performance, Independents are at a remarkable level of disapproval,” Winston said in an email exchange. “In The Economist/YouGov survey (April 9-12), Independents disapproved by a 30-60 margin; the Politico/Morning Consult survey (April 8-11) was a similar 30-62; and the Quinnipiac survey (April 7-011) was 26-56. So among a group Biden won by 13 points in 2020, after Clinton lost them by four in 2016, his disapproval is 30 points or more higher than his approval. This means the majority coalition that elected him is now not in place. Regaining it will be difficult, given his current poor job approval performances on the economy and other issues.”
Carney and Anderson had different thoughts on whether Biden has hit the bottom, or nearly so, or can plunge further. “There is no limit or floor to a president’s approval rating, but historically, Nixon’s 24 percent in January 1974 seems like the practical floor for a modern-day president,” Carney said in another email exchange. “Biden has the potential to sink into the high 20s before the midterm elections, considering inflation will be raging by then.
If Biden leads his party into the midterms with an approval rating in the 20s, there’s no telling how bad the outcome could be for Democrats.
In terms of modern political analysis, we would be in uncharted waters.

On Easter Sunday morning, the DNC released a joint statement from DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison, along with DNC Interfaith Council Co-Chairs Nadia Ahmad, Cindy Bass, Sarah Levin, and Johnnie Roebuck.
The statement starts off with a meaningful tone. "Today, we wish Christians across the country a happy Easter. While this weekend of observance is of particular significance for Christians, the Resurrection is a story in which people of all faiths and traditions can find meaning," it begins. The Resurrection that the statement references is with regards to Jesus Christ rising from the dead, which is a Christian belief.
The next paragraphs provide some indication as to what the co-authors of the statement might be referring to, which is to co-opt it for a message about their handling of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic, and to pat themselves on the back. The rest of the statement reads:
It is a story of hope, faith, sacrifice, and service. As our country endured the pandemic, so many of us came to know loss. But through hope, faith, and our collective effort, the United States has come back stronger. Because of our work, millions of families across the country are worshiping, hunting for Easter eggs, and celebrating the resurrection of Christ in person.
On this Easter Sunday, the Democratic Party reaffirms our commitment to serve our fellow citizens. We will work today and every day to address the needs of communities all across this country.
When it comes to this idea of "com[ing] back stronger," it's worth noting that a strong majority of Americans believe that the country is on the wrong track, according to numerous polls. Data from RealClearPolitics (RCP) for March 2-April 12 shows that 27.5 percent believe the country is going in the "right direction," while 64.9 percent believe it is on the "wrong track."
In addition to tweeting an Easter message from his account, Harrison mocked former President Donald Trump's Easter messages, claiming Trump did not know the meaning of the holiday. Harrison was retweeting a side-by-side contrast of Trump and President Joe Biden's tweet from his official account on Easter.

Trump released two Easter statements.
The RNC statement from Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel merely read: "Happy Easter Sunday to Christians around the world celebrating this holiest of days – the resurrection of our savior Jesus Christ. Let us rejoice in our Risen Lord and pray that Christ’s peace and His promise of eternal life remain with us throughout the year. Wishing everyone a blessed day!"
The RNC and McDaniel's Twitter account, as of the time of publication, have stuck to Easter messages.

National radio host Todd Starnes celebrated the ruling:
“Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty our airlines are free at last,” Starnes said. “Somebody should warn Ilhan Omar that Christians may be breaking out in worship songs onboard American jetliners today.”
We’re still waiting to hear from airlines who, with no cover from the CDC, must now decide whether to change their own policies. It’s hard to imagine any of them causing the kerfuffle of continuing with the mandates if they’re not forced to, but it’s 2022 so you never know.

I don't really disagree with you but at the same time I think you need a valid reason to circumvent what is a legal process. People according to law have a right to come here on the grounds of having undergone persecution, or you have a well-founded fear of being persecuted if you return to that country in the future. That is only one of possibly many things that meet the legal requirement to come here and seek asylum. That's always been the law.
The only reason that was stopped was a ban of bringing people in due to Covid restrictions. That made perfect sense and was legitimate. But now with Covid numbers so low, that has become obsolete. At least according to the political party you support. Hell, they sued to stop wearing masks on planes and public transportation. So while I do share your concerns, it would take an actual change in immigration laws to somehow change the process that has been a part of immigration laws for decades in order to prevent it. So if you could explain how following the law makers people "idiots" I'm all for hearing it.

I also was where Texas has now sent 7 bus loads of illegals to DC. A token amount no doubt. Maybe it will grow in to the hundreds in short order.

The Biden administration, desperate to hide the exploding crisis at the border, dumped the March crossing numbers late on Good Friday of Easter weekend. The dutiful drones on the network evening newscasts did their part in burying the bad news — a record 221,303 encounters with illegals.
In March, there was just nine minutes and four seconds of coverage to the border crisis on World News Tonight, the NBC Nightly News and the CBS Evening News. (And most of that was devoted to something Americans largely agree on: The plight of Ukrainians fleeing war in Europe and trying to enter the U.S. at the border.)
Here’s how NBCNews.com reported the disastrous numbers late on Friday night of a holiday weekend:
The number of migrant arrivals along the U.S. southern border climbed in March to the highest level in more than two decades, according to new government data.
The Department of Homeland Security said in a court filing Friday that there were 221,303 encounters with migrants along the border with Mexico border last month, a new high under the Biden administration.
Yet, on Saturday night of Easter weekend, CBS Weekend News censored the story, allowing no coverage. World News Tonight allowed a meager 23 seconds and NBC Nightly News offered the most: two minutes and 23 seconds. Though much of that was on the move by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to send processed migrants to Washington D.C.
NBC reporter Kelly O’Donnell on Saturday conceded, “Attempted crossings at the southern border hit a 22-year high in March. Homeland Security found more than 221,000 non-citizens trying to enter. Under a Trump-era public health rule to limit COVID spread called Title 42, more than 123,000 of those migrants were barred from the U.S., but that rule ends in May.”

Next here, there is news of a major increase of migrants arriving at the US border with Mexico in recent weeks. US Customs and Border Protection encountered more than 221,000 migrants last month, the third-highest number, ever. And that is only expected to increase next month, when the US lifts Title 42, the controversial policy which expels migrants at the border due to pandemic concerns.
In all of March, there was nine minutes and four seconds of coverage on the three evening newscasts on the border crisis. As I wrote on April 4, 2022:
Most of that coverage (eight minutes and 15 seconds) was understandably sympathetic stories about Ukrainians trying to cross the U.S. southern border after fleeing war in Europe. Given that most Americans side with the plight of the Ukrainian people, the networks apparently found this an acceptable type of border coverage. (The remaining 49 seconds was related to Title 42.)
On Monday, Nightly News returned to the border crisis, warning of a “massive surge” of migrants with the lifting of Title 42. (To put it another way: That would be a surge on top of a surge.)
The situation at the border is a full-on crisis and it’s about to get worse. Expect the corrupt evening newscasts to continue to try and hide this disaster.

That's true. I certainly didn't read over the article carefully. But can you tell me how that changes the fact that Republicans fought mask and vaccine mandates tooth and nail and have been raising hell because brown people crossing the border aren't getting vaccinated? A topic usually covers several points. I'm freely willing to admit I made an error in posting that article. So would you care to discuss why Republicans only care if Brown people should be forced to get vaccinated to enter our country when they have fought against vaccine mandates?
