Go Tech. By the way ..... that Crabtree guy ...... somewhere 2010 or 2011 ...... we gotta get that guy!

I really would like to hear the story behind this guy. He's listed as being a 20 year old freshman.

Redshirt freshman, high school class of '06. Nothing unusual there. Born September 1987. He can continue to shred OU's defense all night...I'm perfectly OK with that.

We MAY not need to see as many as we think,...
You have to figure that Ohio State can be considered a "poll darling." I mean they got a lot of love there while unbeaten, probably undeservedly,...what I'm thinking is maybe, just maybe another close call for West Virginia (last night's game wasn't close, but Cincy was in it due to 'Neers VERY POOR PLAY,....) and another game like that against UConn OR Pitt might do some damage.
We'll get a better judge of that after today's release.
As for Oklahoma, WOW, now it doesn't matter who wins --never did -- the Mizz-Kansas game, EXCEPT that a Kansas loss in the Big 12 Title Game COULD leave them and Ohio State as the Nations's only one-loss "superpowers," pending Neer and AzState outcomes. I presume Kansas would fall like a rock, but to WHERE ? if everybody else has 2 losses.
Nas said in the other thread, Arizona State is gonna be trouble; most especially now with a new shot at moving up. They're in about the same boat as the Buckeyes now.
Go you Razorbacks, GO !!
And, no I haven't forgotten Hawaii,....
It might be blasphemy, but it's kinda nice to be in a position where you can move up without having to play.

Strictly speaking about people calling in to local/regional sports talk radio, people are tired of hearing about the Buckeyes.
One thing to remember...losing a championship game at the end isn't a death blow. It is one of those games that helps a great deal and isn't the killer blow as is a reg season loss.
My guess is WV is going to be in the final game.
The other will be Kansas or LSU.
Why in the heck is the Big 10 done playing while everybody else has 1 or 2 more games??
Sorry folks. The Big 10 shoots themself in the foot with their goofy scheduling.
Just an opinion here.....but the perception is the Big 10 tries to sneak into the BSC...even if it isn't true. Sitting on the sidelines watching while everybody else is sorting things out makes it look the big 10 took their ball and went home early or is somehow trying to avoid messing things up with a late loss..
Yes....I know...they don't take a bye....but it is perception I am talking about.

So ti would be different if Big 10 teams were scheduling FAU at the end of the season? Didn't the gators do that last year too. Nice tough opponents at the end of the year.

I don't see O-State as a "poll darling" at all. They dropped from 1st to 7th with a single loss to a once-ranked (and now ranked again) Illinois team. IMO the Bucks are paying the price for a cream puff non-conference schedule (Kent, Akron, Youngstown State) - perhaps rightfully. I don't really see the point of playing a post season conference tournament; isn't that what the season's for?
I will refrain from my rant regarding the ease with which the NCAA could incorporate a 3-tier, 8 team tournament that wouldn't interfer with their precious New Years Day Bowl games ...

SEC people never had any respect for the Big Ten... and they probably lost a lot after UF destroyed them last year.

In terms of a NC it is... you lose your conference champ this year and you have no shot at the NC game.... OSU won their 'old school' conference championship game. Part of me would love to see a conference title game in the Big Ten.... but I love how it is set up now with OSU/UM being the last game of the year and basically the game that decides the Big Ten Title.

Goofy scheduling? They've been this way forever... just because the Big Ten doesn't feel like they need to take a week off before playing a conference foe....

sounds like a SEC perception to me....

So they don't play 'late' games? Illinosis was a late game for them.... they messed up... and now have to see if they can get some help. They had their destiny in their own hands and screwed up..... now there are 5 teams ahead of them that have their destiny in their hands...... won't be OSU's fault if they can't cut it.... and right now IMO the only team that has a legit argument over OSU for being in the champ game is Kansas.... they are the only team without a loss..... after that you have to start to argue whose loss was worse and who has looked good overall...
last year and in 02 OSU didn't back into anything. So the 'perception' is from ignorant fans IMO

Nice retort there, 'Bird.
Kinda early yet, by a week, to look at one-loss losses and try to determine the "one" that might be what I would call a "quality loss."
Funny, the wife asked me last night,...."Why are we watching this one ??" i.e. Oklahoma -- TTech. Of course,..."To root for a 2 loss Big 12 South to take out the winner of the Kansas-Mizz game next week."
So her next question is "Why is everyone else still playing if the Buckeyes are done ?"
I'm still grinning,....that you can watch everyone else lose.

I am not saying they backed into anything.
I guess I shouldn't expect people in Big 10 country to understand the point.

Can't remember who we played the week before Fla St.
All I remember is how so many people were complaining about the long lay off the Bucks had before the Championship game.
It was a problem then and now it isn't???
The Big 10 needs to get their schedule in line with the rest major college football.
Now, it will be 5-6 weeks before they play again.

Well, I ain't afraid to say they might "back" into this one,...and if they do, so be it. And if they get left out because Georgia or Tennessee manages to beat LSU, leaving West Virginia, Arizona State and either a Kansas/Mizz winner to fight for two spots, fine. It is what it is.
It's all in the fun of watching college football and hoping for the upsets. For me it has nothing to do with conferences and schedule strength. You play the cards you are dealt, and you either win or lose with what's dealt you.

the big ten isn't backing into anything...
if anything, the buckeyes would gain a lot from having another game to play, when you lose late in the year, you want more games, to better yourself...
i love some of these sec fans that think they are the only ones who know football...
sec people tired of hearing about the buckeyes? the buckeyes were hardly talked about... even at #1 people were saying they weren't that great and didn't deserve to be there... to be honest, nobody really has...
if somehow, ohio state ends up in the national championship, they didn't back in...
they got there, because the teams ahead of them, couldn't take care of their business... and jim tressel isn't going to be like these whiny sec coaches, campaigning to move up at much as possible (see tommy tuberville, see urban meyer) i guarantee you jim tressel just talks about how honored he is to be playing in the rose bowl.
i love sec football, but seriously, some of their fans think their crap doesn't stink...
also, from what i hear, the big ten ends their season this week because they want their kids to be home for thanksgiving weekend...
although i would have no problem if they took 1 or 2 byes a year, so they have later games to play, and so they don't have 2 months off, should they ever get back in the championship game.
i also disagree about losing the conference championship game, it is the death blow, just like i said about a osu/um rematch last year, you don't deserve to play for a title if you don't win your conference, and the same goes for lsu, if they don't win their conference, they should not be playing for a title.

I agree with that......I retract my previous statement.
I also agree the Big 10 would benefit with another game. In essence, that is what I am talking about....they need to add a team and add a championship game....or if nothing else, take a bye and stretch the season a week.
While they are sitting at home, other teams are still playing...again, this whole rant is about perception.
I thought I made that clear in the beginning??
And really, the reality is it is easier to get into position without a championship game.
I don't think anybody can say it isn't.
This argument the entire season is a championship game is weak.

One of the reasons I believe you're not seeing an agreesive approach to this, is " they " can seem to figure out how to split the conference up to preserve the Ohio State-Michigan regular season rivalry. I am all for separating them into the "proposed" 2 divisions, and hoping for The Game to be the new "Conference Championship." I would have no problem with it. With as weak as the Big Ten is, it'd happen more times than not. I know I'll get bashed for that,...so what. The Citadel has women; some things need changed.

i'd love to see that, but i don't think the big ten sees it that way, and i do hate the big ten as much as i love it...
they should add/remove a team from the conference, split it into two, and play championship
i think you can do that and still have most of your rivalry games, although if you still had osu and um play before the championship, and then have them meet again a week or two later, then you're watering down the conference and the rivalry, which is over 100 years old, and something that you don't want to ruin...
i just don't believe that ohio state is bettering themselves by sitting at home, i believe it's the complete opposite, and i guess it's a matter of how you look at it
yes, some teams can lose and ohio state can move up, but they cannot play, and they cannot impress anyone by just sitting at home
i do think that most people's argument for a playoff should be showing pretty strong this year, you're going to have a pool of about 5 teams (6 if kansas loses at some point) all looking worthy of playing a championship game... if there was a year where these schools and the ncaa looked at themselves and said "maybe we're not doing this right" this would be the year, no doubt.

Gotta disagree there,...let's just suppose for example that every major college team in the country that has one loss COULD get that win back,...
Missouri (to Oklahoma) LSU -- (to Kentucky) Ohio State (to Illinois) Arizona State (to Oregon) West Virginia (to South Florida)
EVERY week is championship week in major college football when you're talking about playing for the National Title.
I believe that ANY one of these schools at 11/12-0 gets ranked higher than the current 11/12-0 of Kansas.

I just look at what happened in the Big 12,....the Oklahoma-Nebraska rivalry is completely dead now with 2 divisions, compared to what is used to be like. Off track, but I would be more inclined to see a "Super-Conference" whose membership and scheduling was based on how you finished last year,....or better yet, do away with conferences altogether and have schedules built strictly on poll results from the year before,...i.e. # 1 would have to play # ' s 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29, 33, 37, etc. Just an out-of-the-box thought,....

That's easy enough.
You put OSU and Michigan in the same division, still play the game the last week of the regular season and it means just as much. It's for a trip to the Big Ten championship game. The championship game can then be played in the RCA dome or Ford Field following the last week of the regular season.
Also, the Nebraska / Oklahoma rivalry now sucks because Nebraska hasn't been any good for sometime. Not because they went to a division format.

I don't think it would mean just as much if they were in the same division. Put them in separate divisions and call their matchup what it is every year.... the conference championship game.
