Have a safe trip OSU and to all others traveling.....We will have between 6-8 people over for the T-Giving Holiday....my wife cooks enough for 600 however, like last year with the ham and turkey, I estimated that there was 4-5 lbs of meat per person, not to mention all the fixings, it's a wonder I'm not fat.......OK fatter than I am!!!!

I'm a little sad at this Thanksgiving but I'm sure I'll enjoy my time with my family at my parents house.

My wife is out of town. My friends are out of town. I guess I'll be spending my holiday alone... with the NFL and no distractions. I'll get by.

Down here in Florida, were 2000 miles away from relatives, so it's prolly another buffet Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant.

I don't mind, that way I don't have dishes.

AHH yes another meal at my mother-in-laws. I think most of you remember my stories of that Steeler lover don't you. The wonderful burnt rolls, extra, extra dry turkey, generic corn, watery gravey, bland noodles, and thats just the best part of her meals. The lady can burn water She can boil ten pounds of potatoes into nothing but steam.

Oh yes crappy food, and crappy steeler stuff all over the house. Yet another year of eating lunch BEFORE I go and cooking my own dinner later in the day

I think hers is just warm tap water with a hint of dirt thrown in to give it some color, and it can't be liquid meat since, since all the water in with the dried turkey jerky was boiled out days ago.

Man law 69.a2

Mother-in-law visits......Men will not and do not have to attend any family function at the mother-in-laws that the wife does not attend, or shows up after his arrival by more than one (1) hour, this includes funnerals, cookouts, garage sales, graduations and any holiday function. This rule can be waived due to father-in-law being present but on the basis of all attending men understanding beer will be served, limited conversation will be expected and tabacoo products will be allowed. this law is not limited just to the mother-in-laws place of residents it will apply to all places a mother-in-law is present.

I like that law, it will be printed and posted

Just thought I would throw this tidbit out there since we a talking Turkey day food and in-laws.

While my mother-in-laws food is not bad, it IS southern. That makes things different, and the one thing I have the hardest time with is the stuffin. Down here in the south the stuffing is baked in a pan and is flat and hard, kinda like a ............I am having a hard time describing it, but I am sure someone out there knows what I am talking about. I just can't get used to hard, flat stuffing, and what is thankgiving dinner without a good stuffing?

We rotate yrs., and this yr it's the hard and flat yr...........

At least they are now used to me bringing alcohol .

We cook for 40 people at my 'rents house. Usually 2 turkey's, and my old man cooks venison on the smoker.

Plenty of good food----thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

thats exactly how my mother makes stuffing, The best parts are the brown parts around the edges of the pan, kinda chewy an full of flavor...She adds in the gizzards, heart & liver.....good stuff.....

Well, this year I think I'm getting off easy. My wife should be home right now with the in-laws and children doing all the prep work. By the time I get home, it should be supper time, than TV time, so I will probably have to eat, sit on the couch and watch TV. Tomorrow will be tougher. I have to get up early to go play in the FireDept's annual charity football game. Afterwards, we have to go to the winners fire house and start drinking. Eventually, my wife will call and tell me everyone's waiting on me toget home so they can eat (we'll have somewhere around 20 or 25 people over). I'll get home, eat, sit, watch football, eat desert, sit, watch football..... Oh sorry, dozed off there, must be that turkey.....

Don't get me wrong, that's a blood and guts game. I'll usually feel that one for a couple months. But I'd take that any day over peeling potatos for the mum-in-law.

I am fortunate enough to be spending my very first Thanksgiving with the love of my life....who, coincidentally, happens to be the very thing that I am the most thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

I'm heading home to Toledo and smoking a Turducken for Thanksgiving dinner. My folks have never had one, and I thought I'd treat them and the rest of the familiy to something different this year. Mmmmmm.

I'll be heading to my in-laws for dinner on Thursday, my grandmother's for dessert and poker w/ my uncles, and then spending the rest of the weekend drinking beer and getting ready for the opening of PA's rifle deer season. Since I got a buck during archery, I'll be doing plenty of walking/pushing for the others, which should allow me to burn off all the turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I hope that on Sunday night we can all give thanks for another Browns' victory!

I'll be working. The nursing home I work at never closes. Only good side is that I'll get fed lunch. Don't have family close by so I'll have to find something at home (read leftovers) for dinner.

I'll save you some of the stuffing be served tomarrow. You can drink it with a straw, but forget about using a fork.

You too OSU.

My youngest is set to arrive sometime tonight..my others are starting their own deal just as I did many years ago, so i understand.

Doing the turkey and the whole shebang .

I love Thanksgiving....I don't see why we shouldn't have 2 a year.

Many people have different religious views, but the concept of giving thanks transcends all of that....doesn't matter what you believe in or if you don't believe in any God at all ....all people grasp the concept of giving thanks.

When you get right down to it, it might be the most religious of all our holidays. It touches nearly everyone.

Sorry to hear that man...I know I have at least 5 more spots at the table since there will only be 3.

I didn't buy the biggest turkey in the world, but it is big enough for a few more plates.

If you can make it to Chattanooga, I know I can find enough to dish up another plate and pour a few extra glasses of wine.

Actually, the wine we are good....I have about 60 bottles in the cellar.

So sorry to hear you will spend it alone man!

I have done that a few times, and it is not fun!

Maybe someone on this website lives close by and offers a invite for you....if not get on your local chats and let people know man................so many kind people in this world are more then willing to invite a nice person into their home to share a meal at this time of the year!

Do not be shy......Thanksgiving Day is an awesome day....so many people will respond to share a meal.............I know that from my military experience being all over this great county as a single guy!

Do not be alone...........you can do better then that on this great day of Thanksgiving!

No matter what we feel about this country in this day and age........there are at least one hundred thousand people that would give you a seat at their table...go for it man!

Thanksgiving is all about sharing.......with family and friends, but meeting new friends is always a good thing! hope you have a great Turkey Day!
