I've been a fan since the Miracle at Richfield days, but for some reason, I just can't get into them this year. Is it because Ferry hasn't been able to do much with the lineup? The Lebron hat fiasco? The fact that the Tribe and Browns are doing/did well? Or is it just too early in the season? I can't put my finger on it but I'm just not excited about this team, this year. Anyone have similar feelings/thoughts?

I;ve been saying it since before the season, but alot of people argue over it,

Cavs are not a good team...average at best, everybody can say this or that about them but bottom line is what thier doing on the court....and thats not much, this is gonna be a off year, save money sign nobdy, get rid of people after the season year, rebuilding starts next summer.

i think everyone in cleveland remembers that it wasnt that long ago we were in the finals...and the new season is starting already!

its too long to get too involved early.

also, you are right. all over the league the teams are showing off their new players...and we are showing off...devon brown, and no andy varejao.

and also, when is the last time the browns were playing meaningful games in november? (how sad is that!?)

I was indifferent to them last year, so this year, same thing.

I want them to do well, but I certainly don't follow them.

I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

I'm with you. I'm not all that into it, largely for the reasons stated. I expect this team to squeek into the playoffs and get bounced in the first round.

With that said, this could be a valuable year of growth for the team... and by that I mean, LeBron is carrying this team to whatever extent he can. He's putting up sick numbers and trying to singlehandedly win games. This "take the team on your back" approach is something I think LeBron has needed for a while and if he can get it and keep it next year when he hopefully has more talent around him, the Cavs could be awesome... not to mention Gibson is getting a full year of experience. If Ferry can work some magic in the offseason, this team could be really good next year. I'm not sure there is enough he can do before the trade deadline this year to help.

Funny you posted this DC. I was going to post something similar this morning. A year ago, even early in the season, I was hyped and watched almost every game. Add all my watching together and I probably don't have 48 minutes worth yet.

When they did nothing in the off season to improve the team, I figured we would be a 7th seed in the playoffs this year. Getting a year older is only good for LBJ, Booby, Gooden, and possibly Sasha. Being a year older did nothing but hurt Z, Snow, Marshall, Jones...they're past their prime. Larry Hughs is a bust. He was a good pick up on paper, but they didn't form a style of play like he had in Washington and he's been a zero since we got him.

Maybe once football season is over I can get the B-Ball juices flowing again. Maybe I'm just sported out after the the ride this year of Cavs, Indians, Browns and now Cavs again.

I'm definately having a tough time this season.......I'm a little embarrassed to say but the "hat" incident bothered me more than I thought it would initially.

I can't help it but I've lost SOOO much respect for Lebron it aint funny.

I agree we will be a lower seed in the playoffs. However, I think we will be a team to be reckoned with. All of the top teams are non-defensive playing, mainly jump shooting teams. Also, none of them have much playoff experience.

I am also assuming we will get Andy back sometime this year. I also expect a move to be made before the trade deadline that will improve the roster.

Devin Brown is fitting in. Larry should be back towards the end of the year.

I would love to be a 6 seed and surprise some teams with our team defense and experience.

A lot of what is happening now is experimenting with different line-ups. We have not been even close to full strength. It'll come together.

Not me. Probably since I am a hoops junkie. Love the Cavs. Thing is, for those that have not watched much this year, LBJ is playing the best basketball of his career. That in itself is a reason to watch IMO.

He is going to the rack more than ever, and playing all pro level defense. Their have actually been a lot of good signs the casual fan probably has not picked up on yet.

1) we are running more than ever.
2) the running is because of more risk taking on defense, thus our defense has struggled getting accustomed to running up and down more, and not just playing half court ball.
3) if the defense can come around at all to the level it was last year we will be fine. Probably around 47 wins or more.

I know it's tough for a lot of people to get into the NBA early on in the season, (my dad is like this) especially coming off the Indians run and with the Browns success of late.

I am pumped for tonite, my only chance of the regular season to see the Cavs in person. If we lose to the TImberwolves this evening, I am gonna be very disappointed as we are coming off a home loss last nite.

If there on TV I'll watch them, but till the Browns win the super bowl this year I don't get into basketball till football is all over with.

the cavs are fine... they just need to get the entire team back, this varejao thing is ridiculous... if he was in the lineup, we don't lose last night, and ther are probably 2 or 3 other games that we don't lose...

yahoo's rumors section says that he's close to giving up on the cavs, what i find funny is that he'll probably come crawling back when he realizes nobody is going to give him 10 million a year.

but to answer your question, i think you, and probably most other cleveland fans are turning a blind eye to the cavs because the browns are doing so well, th same thing happened in april/may, the tribe was playing great baseball, but nobody cared because the cavs were rocking in the playoffs...

but when the browns do well, no other team in town will top that, not when you're a football town in a football crazed state, maybe the biggest football crazed state.

although i heard the hanson brothers are going to be at the Q saturday night for the monsters game, that's big time

I usually don't get into the NBA season until Jan-Feb when it starts getting real good.

But, the way the Browns are playing and the Indians played, there isn't much attention focused on the Cavs right now.

Always has been, always will be, Brownstown. Thats just the way it is. Hell, it's been 5 years since we even smelled playoffs. Were on the eve of something great here. The Browns are going to be a contender, the CAVS and Indians are, all is good!! Till the damn Lake Effect starts going that is "Wind Chill", blah. (Sorry just watching the weather hehe)

I am but I think it has more to do with the Browns and less to do with the Cavs.

It's been 5 years since the Brownies have even been treading water at this point in the season!

It's the same with college basketball. I probably won't really get in to it untill the NFL season is over.

A little bit, yes. I was at the Cavs game last night, and it just wasn't the same feeling. Rather than the Browns being better as the reason as has been stated, I think (for me, anyway) its more getting over the Indians still. I'm rooting and following the Cavs, and I'm sure I'll be picking it up more as the season goes along, but its just not the same to me.

maybe the cavs are tanking games on purpose like they did in '02-'03

you've got some pretty big names coming out this year, possibly

i really like derrick rose, who plays for memphis, i saw him play a few times on tv when he played his highschool ball in chicago...

I think tanking games after going to the NBA finals is out of the question. The main difference thus far has been our unwillingness to play defense. We're scoring points (100.3 PPG) but we're also giving up way too many (103 PPG). That's just not going to get it done.

I was just mentioning this to some of my friends this week. Perhaps its a hangover from last season, or I'm just having too much fun following the Browns this year, but I'll probably start checking them out after the end of football season. For now, I'm pretty much apathetic towards them.

I've never been able to really get into basketball until playoff time. I'm not sure if it's 'cause I'm used to not having the Browns to watch, or that the level of play steps up so much in the playoffs...

Regular Season basketball just kinda bores me for the most part...

a lot of people can't get into the nba's regular season, and it's because the season is too long, and too many teams are allowed to make the playoffs...

baseball has a long season, but if you think about it, only 8 teams make the playoffs, so really, games in april and may matter just as the ones in august and september...

but in the nba, you have a lot of mediocrity getting into the playoffs, and it isn't just the eastern conference, i know that golden state upset dallas, but they were still a mediocre team, and that's why they ran and jacked up bad 3 pointers the entire series, it just happened to work, and dallas never adjusted, they were still mediocre, the lakers, who were also a low seed, were an average team...

i do think the nba would be more exciting if only 8 teams made the playoffs, the nba won't do it because they love the tv revenue from all the first round games...

While I do still catch a basketball game here and there around this time, I don't REALLY get into it until January; college or pro.

I watch just about every game.

I'm extremely dissapointed that they could't bring in any new faces. But there is something about this team this year that just isn't as exciting as it has been. Maybe it's because Hughes has been hurt/ not producing, Snow has been hurt, AV has had contract disputes so on and so forth. There are a bunch of bums out on the court right now and it's really shows.

I still follow the Cavs in the box scores, and catch a game here or there. But nobody is going to put a vested interest into the Cavs or even the Indians until the playoffs are on the horizon. The seasons are just too long.

I'm indifferent simply because they did very very little to improve during the offseason, in terms of adding talent.

That said, Lebron's output lately has been phenomenal.

I'm indifferent towards the Cavs every year.

Making the playoffs last season made for some very interesting games. I watched all most all of those including the last four.

Now I'm back to being indifferent.

I'm always indifferent about them.... if they do decently and are in it in February, then I might get interested.

Basketball is something that helps bridge the gap between the Super Bowl and Draft Day. Then we have Baseball to get us from Draft Day to Training Camp.

In short... the Browns are doing well.... I have no use for a sideshow that isn't all that good.

Browns is the Browns

That's kind of how I feel about baseball.

It's weird because I never really used to watch much Cleveland basketball until LeBron came to Cleveland, I actually liked the Magic when Penny and Shaq were there but when they left I kind of quit watching. But when LeBron came I started watching to see what the hype was all about and have been hooked ever since. I used to watch alot of the Indians back then but haven't watched them much the last few years. Baseball to me is probably one of the most boring sports aside from Hockey, at-least until the 9th inning of a close game.
