First off, a very Happy Father's Day weekend to all my fellow Dawgs out there. Anyone have any big plans?

My wife (as per usual) outdid me this year and got us tour tickets to Buffalo Trace, along with a tasting. We're heading to Lexington for the weekend to check out a couple other distilleries, too. I imagine Buffalo Trace will be mobbed, especially when the line forms in the morning.

How about the rest of you? Fishing plans? Trips? Anything else fun?

Heading to Florida on Sunday to make the every 6 week or so check on my mother in law....not exactly a big time.

Will spend Sunday night in Gainesville because we like Gainesville, then Monday night in Ybor City because i like Cuban food.

Have fun on the Bourboin trail. My wife and I have been to a good number of them. The Trace was very nice. Our favorite was Makers Mark. At the end, if you opt, you get to dip your own bottle in the red wax. If you do, dip it 2-3 inches deeper than instructed so you get wax running way down the bottle...makes for a great conversation piece.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I hope people see the humor in this.

Last Fathers Day my daughter got me a gift certificate at the "Healing Massage Spa."

It was amazing. I want to go back.

I don't make any plans for Fathers Day. My wife and daughter do. They always keep it a secret so I never know. I like it that way. They are the two people that probably know me the best since both of my parents passed away long ago. I'll let you know when it's over.

That's awesome. I went to Makers about 6 years ago and did the dip. I also joined their Ambassador. I think my barrel will be matured in the next year or two.

Have fun in Florida. My sister-in-law is a physician there and my parents-in-law live in Tampa. Have fun in Ybor. Great place for cigars, too.

I have gotten maybe a dozen massages over time.

This place stands alone. It is Chinese. Best ever no doubt; a dollar a minute. They heat stones that are egg size and add oil.

After 90 minutes you feel like a million. The last time I went. I thought about Watson. Then about George Costanza.

I know the other topics are serious and I do consider them so. But there is a part of me that thinks like Larry David.

I am sorry I can't help it.

I'm shocked you didn't run into a hooker. It seems to happen to some people a LOT!

I see a Curb episode where there is a trial.

Where in testimony the accusers are asked to describe DW's junk. And then all have to compare notes to see if there are descripancies.

He may have to drop his drawers.

I know. I am sorry but it just slips into my brain.

I have watched Curb to many times. Pubic hair in the throat cough cough.

Or, the one where Larry at a pool party says "hey, that's some penis on your son."

Okay, I just did not find Pit and OCD's trashing of Watson funny. I'm sorry.

About Father's Day. Not sure what the kids have planned for me this year. Last year, we smoked some ribs and had more fixings than one can imagine. My daughter had gotten married in April and they waited until then to start trying to have kids. Her and her husband announced they were pregnant. The kids bought me a new griddle for Father's Day. I remember saying this was perhaps the best Father's Day ever. Later, my daughter miscarried. They tried again and another miscarriage. Devastating to us all. She is pregnant again and this time she is far enough along that they know it is a girl and she is the right size. Still some issues as she has something on the back of her neck and it might indicate problems. But, the news has been getting better. I ask for prayers for them. They are good kids and will make wonderful parents and I will be the best damn Pops in the world.

Lastly, like pretty much every year.......>>I want to take this opportunity on Father's Day to not think about what the kids will do for me, but instead, thank them for being two of the greatest kids a man like me could ever have. They are so much better than I deserve and I am so thankful to have two such wonderful, well-adjusted, loving children.

That is all.

That's very nice perspective, Vers. Terribly sorry to hear about your daughter. I will pray that your granddaughter is born happy and healthy.

Vers, I will keep your daughter and granddaughter in my prayers. I wish nothing but the best for them. I have a wonderful son and daughter. Both well-educated and good kids. I became a grandfather for the first-time last October. My son and his wife are the parents. My wife and I were thrilled. Unfortunately, my wife passed away in February due to cancer that rotten miserable disease. She beat breast cancer 10 years ago and was OK for about 7and a half years then it came back in a different area. She fought hard for a year and a half but it was aggressive and just too much for her. My family and I take solace that she isn't suffering anymore. It just breaks our hearts that she isn't here to see our grandson grow up. Family is the most important thing and I thank God I have a very good one. Again, your family will be in my prayers. I've said a lot of them over the past 2 years.

Hope everything works out for your daughter.

Nothing better than being a poppi.

I have lived with my two grandsons since their first breath of air. One was born in my house.

Like being a father for two generations.

I hope and pray she carries this one to term and that the neck issue is minor. There is nothing worse than that "eating your guts out" feeling when worrying about your kids.

Damn Homes. I'm so sorry that your wife passed away. She probably wanted to be a grandma for a long time. At least she got to spend a few months w/the baby. Very sad, though and I wish you nothing but the best moving forward. I saw you mention on another thread that you watch your grandson. I bet being around him helps you a lot.

And thanks to you all who wished my daughter and her husband good luck w/the baby.

Thank you Vers. Yes, I watch my grandson 3 days a week and I really enjoy it. Anything to help my children out. I worked 2 jobs for many years to help educate them and I'd do it all over again. My wife and I were to babysit my grandson together, but it didn't work out that way. She was really looking forward to it and loved him very much. We all know life isn't fair. You work hard all your life to get to a certain point and what you expected things to be aren't. That's why family is so important.

That is the way it should be. My son and step-son turned out to be great men and fathers despite me. My father has been gone since 2007, so fathers' day isn't the same without him.

I put aside a deer roast that I got on the family farm in Ohio. I plan on putting it in the smoker with a bacon wrap. Everything goes better with bacon.
I hope you have a great fathers day.

Primary plans are to not kill the kids... it's close to 100 every day this weekend... when it's too hot to go swimming you know it's hot...

will probably do some house work and try to find some fun indoor activities to do... probably skillet a steak, because again... too hot to grill...

Yes ! big plans on spending lots of money !

My three daughters who some of you know, love me and love fathers day because we do lots of fun stuff, eating and having a drink !

Dad pays for it all ! Love my three wonderful Browns fan daughters !

Yes it is a happy fathers day to be a father to them ! I want them to do nothing for me but love me, be my best friends and root for the Browns !

Hopefully we will have some time on the lake fishing we as a family loves to do !

We don't make plans, we just love to just do ! makes it interesting.

Sometimes making plans ahead will result in sadness. like renting a boat for the day weeks ahead, and that day it storms. plan on a day at the pool and it storms, plan a day at the New port Aquarium, oh crap ! granddaughter has them ! lol

I enjoy when they are all here and I'm busting my butt cooking for them all !! because as a father it's how it's always been and I love it !!!

That’s awesome man! Sounds like you got yourself one hell of a great situation with three lovely girls.

We just hit up Buffalo Trace today and got a couple bottles of Weller. Also their Wheatley Vodka. I also got to tour the property and some of the Rick houses. One of the Rick houses had a couple barrels of what will be Eagle Double Rare. A quick google search shows that ABC values one bottle at $2K but secondary websites have it valued at $15K+!!! I can’t imagine…

The funny thing is they send most of it to charity auctions, which is pretty darn cool.

They also have a legit arboretum on property and a really nice playground. My kids loved it because they were the only ones using it (makes sense being a distillery and all). Finished up by heading to Crank & Boom ice cream which is insanely delicious. Everyone had a great day. More to come…

There has been nothing in my life that compares to being a father. Nothing.

From the moment my first child was born my heart was given away. I knew there and then that I would do anything for my children.

Today is bitter and sweet. I am extremely close to my daughter and son. We will honor this day.

At he same time I am shaken to the core of my soul about school shootings. It is not move on. I can not come to grips with this. I think of those fathers today and I am overwhelmed by tears.

I want this to end so badly. I don't want to ever read about children in school and guns. It must end.

Happy Father's day to all the dads out there. It is great to be a dad. I couldn't agree more with your post bone. These school shootings sicken me. I can't imagine the pain these family's feel when a child is killed. Absolutely awful.
