Here's another "goodie" for you -- suppose Mizz and Ohio State are the only 2 winnng one-loss teams left after today,...?? Does Ohio State maybe pass Mizz in the polls ?? And just what guarantee is there that the Buckeyes pass Kansas in the wake of, say, a 28-27 loss to Missouri ??
How could OSU possibly pass Missou if they beat Kansas?
I don't think it's even plausible (in any scenario) that a team currently ranked ahead of another could beat the #2 ranked team in the country and have someone who is idle jump ahead of them.
As of today, OSU only has one team on their schedule that's ranked in to the top 25 (Illinois) and they lost to them. I'm guessing they're not a poll favorite. They could get in because everyone else loses but I don't see a scenario in which they jump someone ahead of them as long as those higher ranked teams continue to win.

No i'm not going to get my hopes up either but I like the fact that our regular season is over and we still have a chance to get in. If this would have been any one of the last three or four years (or god knows how long ago) we would have had to settle for our bowl game. The fact that we are still alive makes it exciting.

Because if they are close enough to be the only 2 one-loss teams that won or were idle this weekend, then you have no idea how the poll voters are going to rank them, in addition to how the computers come out.

Hey, suppose Mizz beats Kansas 50-48 in a 3OT thriller (like last nite),...who says Ohio State jumps Kansas,....??
You guys gotta wait for the pollsters to talk first, but I appreciate that you wonder about me,...

That would be more plausible than having us jump Mizzu.... however, if the pollsters do what they typically do then Kansas will drop out of the top 5 if they lose. Just the way it goes. They will probably drop to the bottom of the 1 loss teams... that's how it usually goes. Late losses really drop you down.

Well, if Michigan was in this same situation I would be pretty damn optimistic.
OSU needs 2 of 3 teams (WVU, Kansas and Missouri) to lose to be in. 1 is guaranteed to lose tonight (Kansas or Missouri) and the winner still has to play a top 10 team in Oklahoma.
It's not a slam dunk but I don't see how OSU could be in a better position at this point with LSU going down. Given the fact that they lost in their second to last week of football, at home, to an unranked team makes it absolutely amazing really. Just about everything that OSU has needed to happen has thus far. IMO the toughest dominoes were Oregon and LSU....in the grand scheme of things, the most likely scenario 3 weeks ago was Kansas or Missouri losing in the Big 12 championship, so you never know. The toughest hurdles have already been jumped. If Oklahoma can come through, OSU will be in.

Not to get cocky but I don't see how Oklahoma doesn't beat either one of these teams when they play.

The great thing about it is -- optimism, and being an Ohio State fane aside -- it makes every game count for something to somebody,...there are still like 64 different possible National Title game matchups IF you include the possibility that any of the 2 loss Oklahoma, VT, USC, LSU, Georgia and Tennessee teams could get in the mix.

It's a win-win situation for OSU... they either get to go to the national championship game or the Rose Bowl... no OSU fan should be upset.

I also don't think the pollsters would even entertain the idea of Kansas staying ahead of Ohio State because of the potential outcome. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
It would open up the possibility of the Big 12 once again screwing the BCS pooch. If Missouri would turn around and lose to Oklahoma it would set up the possibility of yet another Big 12 team (Kansas) going to the national title game without winning their conference.

I can't wait for the game tonight - it's not as big as UM/OSU last year, but pretty damn close!
Basically it's a game for the #1 spot on a neutral field!!!

I would actually love to see an OSU vs. Michigan game played at either Ford Field or CBS. If they could work out an even ticket split, it would be a phenomenal atmosphere. Each team gets a sideline (lower bowl and upper deck) and the two end zones are then sold as first come first serve. Would probably be a riot type atmosphere.

Part of me agrees with you... but there's something to be said about having the game either at home or in the Big House... both the Shoe and Big house are phenomenal stadiums and create a great atmosphere... plus CBS can't hold as many fans haha

That's the really scary possibly outcome. Kansas wins tonight and then loses to OU in the B12 championship game. But they don't fall past #2 or #3. Then, if WVU loses, KU is gonna be in the BCS Title game having not won their own conference.
Wasn't it in 2001 that Nebraska, who got smoked by Colorado in the B12 game but still hung on to #2, got trounced by Miami in the title game? Crazy how this can all work out.
(ps...told ya OU was gonna be in the game this year)

there is no way in hell that kansas stays ahead of ohio state if they lose tonight...
ohio state got screwed by losing late, so if kansas goes down tonight, they should fall as much as ohio state did... especially if you consider that kansas wouldn't be playing for a conference title.
after the illinois loss, i said there was no way in hell that ohio state would have a chance to make it to the big game, shame on me, i think they have an unbelievable chance...
i just don't want to hear the whining from the sec fans, i'm sorry guys, but your conference was overrated this year, lsu was vastly overrated... good football team, not as good as they were made out to be... good defense, but not a great defense, definitely not a championship defense... the sec has a very small chance to get back into the title picture, and it ain't gonna happen...

WVU's offense is looking very dangerous. UCONN is on the ropes in the 1st half. Could get very ugly.

Looks as though USC is going to the Rose Bowl. Oregon is down 6-0 in the second quarter and they're on their 3rd string QB. Guy is 1/4 for 5 yards and 1 INT. Still early but that team just is not the same without Dixon. OSU vs. USC would be a great match-up if someone doesn't lose.

Glad you're thinking on the positive side of things... we were suppose to finish 3rd in the Big Ten as well.

UK/TENN heading to the 4th OT, tied at 44 still. Tennessee just got a 40-yard TD. What a game so far!

You think WVU realizes what they're playing for? They've dropped 52 on UCONN......at the start of the 4th quarter.

Kentucky...all they had to do was nail a 30 yard FG to win it...or punch the ball in from the 1 on another occasion...and couldn't get it done.

Great game by WVU... and what a game by UT and UK
Great game by WVU...
Pat White has been unbelievable. He's approaching 200 yards.....rushing.
UK really blew it. Reminded me of the Oakland game. Do everything right to come back and then forget to block on a routine field goal.

saw a quote on ESPN.com that summed it up perfectly...
"UT wanted to give it away... but Kentucky said no thanks... you keep it."
UK should have won that game.... oh well.
